- My name is Margaret Manning, and I'm a digital entrepreneur. The pandemic hit, and I read this amazing article about Barbados's crazy idea to offer a digital nomad visa, now called the Welcome Stamp. And quite frankly, for me, it was an absolute, total no-brainer. It came at a perfect time in my career. I was looking for new opportunities, new ideas, new innovations. And it struck me that because of the Welcome Stamp, Barbados would be filled with like-minded individuals, innovators, entrepreneurs, with a lot of ideas, a melting pot of ideas. Came over here, and found that's exactly what we've got. I've been in Barbados now for six months, and I have met so many interesting people, of many, many, many different nationalities. And actually my surprise was also across all age groups. There are people from 18 to not quite 80, but it's getting on that way, and people from all walks of life, people who are owning their own businesses, people who've never ever run a business. And that's what has been fantastic, seeing those people that have come here, and have changed their life story because of what they've found here. So the people that I've met here have actually found an enormous range of things. They've found obviously fantastic weather, they've found great fun, but they've also found inspiration. They're finding inspiration from each other. They're learning from each other. And so I came here looking for inspiration, and I found inspiration. The Welcome Stamp as a 12-month program was extremely interesting, but what it has definitely done is it's morphed the idea of what tourism is, what tourism could be, and what tourism should be in the future. The change in the way that we work actually meets the change in the way that we want to undertake leisure. So those two things together are creating a hugely interesting pivotal point for tourism. And you're seeing many different ideas coming out from a lotta different people, from the concept of co-working spaces for the long-term stay people, the digital nomad concept for, a lot of digital nomads are actually freelancers. But now you see bankers coming away for six months. It's not just the freelancers. It's moved from techs to creatives, to consultants and to bankers. So it's a very wide spectrum of people that are actually taking advantage of a new way of working, but also very importantly, a new way of leisure. If anyone's thinking about coming to a place like Barbados on a visa like the Welcome Stamp visa, I am going to give you a quote that I was just given. This is an incredibly welcoming place. The community looks after newcomers. You're immediately brought into a community of very, very like-minded people. It is an incredible experience. Barbados not only has the Welcome Stamp. It also has the infrastructure around the Welcome Stamp...

- My name is Paula Heaney, and I am the Founder of Skinny Malinkys cold-pressed juice.

- My name is Darragh Everard, I'm the Managing Director of Eirkoo and Cantillon. The reason for relocating to Barbados was that I wanted to experience the life, that I'm trying to introduce to our candidates. And I believe that basing myself here in Barbados gives me a platform to visit other countries here in the Caribbean, which will allow me to properly educate people on what the differences are between living in the different countries.

- So I have come on the 12-month Barbados Welcome Stamp, And it just means that people who can work remotely from anywhere in the world can actually come and stay here for three, six, nine, up to a year. In the first two weeks, I was still a bit uncertain thinking, is this actually possible that I can work remotely, but I do the exact same Irish hours as soon as I do from home. I'm finished by lunchtime, and then I'm on the beach by two o'clock. So I've made definitely the right decision.

- It came at a perfect time in my career, I was looking for new opportunities, new ideas, new innovations. And it struck me that because of the welcome stamp, Barbados would be filled with like-minded individuals.

- There's people here running multinational businesses, SMEs, there's people working remotely for all sorts of different types of businesses.

- Most of the island is fibre wired, I always have 4G. On the islands, I feel super safe, I really, the people are so lovely, genuinely friendly, to anyone even considering coming out here for a few months let alone a year, the only thing I can say is do it.

- It is an incredible experience. If you can, if you do have that opportunity, just take that leap. It's incredible, you won't regret it.

- My name is Paula Heaney and I'm the founder of Skinny Malinkys cold-pressed juice. So I applied for the 12 month visa, which I have. But to be honest, I don't know if I want to ever go back right now But I'll definitely stay the full 12, I'll return a couple of times. I've got some weddings at home in the summer, but yeah I'm Bajan by choice now. So my usual day here in Barbados is a little bit different, slightly different to when I was back in the UK. But I get up most mornings about six and I've started to push it to 6:30. If I need to, I'll be in a nine o'clock meeting in the UK which means I have to be online at 5:00 AM. But I mean, it's worth it to be able to finish and come here after. So my latest time I work to is probably 3:00 PM every day. Then I hit the beach. Part of the reason Barbados offered the welcome stamp and part of the reason I came here is because they have some of the best internet in the world. Most of the Island is fibre wired. I always have 4G, and here yeah the Internet's brilliant everywhere you go. On the island I feel super safe. I really. The people are so lovely, genuinely friendly. There's an affinity with the Irish as well for sure. People love to talk very, we're similar for sure. Yeah. I mean I feel safe, but like everywhere, you still need to be slightly cautious, but for me, yeah, I feel safe where I live. I love the people who live around me, my neighbours. I have a real mixed group of friends like between ex-pats, welcome stampers and Bajans. So yeah I love it. To anyone even considering coming out here for a few months, let alone a year of only thing I can say is do it. It is the most amazing thing I've done. I love every day. And I just think why be stuck at home with the restrictions in place when you could be here going to the beach everyday after work surfing whenever you want.

- My name is Laura Bonner, and I'm the CEO of The Muff Liquor Company. I am in Barbados, working remotely. Thanks to COVID, I've realised that you can actually work from anywhere, so given the opportunity to come work here, why not? So I have come on the 12-month Barbados Welcome Stamp. It just means that people who can work remotely from anywhere in the world can actually come and stay here for three, six, nine, up to a year. I am here six weeks. The first two weeks I was still a bit uncertain, thinking is this actually possible that I could work remotely. But I do the exact same Irish hours as I do from home. I'm finished by lunchtime, and then I'm on the beach by two o'clock. So I've made definitely the right decision, for me anyway. The Muff Liquor Company produces premium Irish spirits. We're a potato-based company in Donegal, we mainly export our products globally. Obviously, with COVID, that stopped us so it gave us a bit of time to reset ourselves. So when this kinda came across, I thought why not go to the Caribbean, which is mostly COVID-free and try and expand my business here. My whole idea is have an option to come out here, I'm going to hopefully source my sugarcane to make my Muff Rum. Must be our next portfolio project. So Barbados has the number one sugarcane in the world, so what better place to do my research. So hopefully in the new year, our new project will be a better research of sugarcane and where best to make Rum with the experts here on island. Rum is obviously the home of Barbados. It was made here, it's in everybody's blood, so it's a great place for us to learn.

My name is Darragh Everard. I'm the managing director of Eirkoo And Cantillon. The reason for relocating to Barbados was that I wanted to experience the life that I'm trying to introduce to our candidates. And I believe that basing myself here in Barbados gives me a platform to visit other countries here in the Caribbean, which will allow me to properly educate people on what the differences are between living in the different countries. So I've really enjoyed life here. It's certainly a different pace of life. The weather makes a huge difference. The expat community are very welcoming. So like, I'm only here probably seven or eight weeks, but at this point in time, I'm in six different WhatsApp groups for tennis, for surfing, for golf, for drinks, for all sorts of different things. The business community here is more welcoming than I expected. I didn't really expect to be as integrated as I am. I've met a number of different people here who are doing different things. And it's the one thing that I really enjoy here, is that the caliber of person you meet is very high and very interesting because everyone's in the position where they can relocate here, so they've some level of autonomy but they also are doing something, everyone's doing something interesting, which allows you to then learn from them. The welcome stamps certainly facilitates people from all backgrounds, which is one thing that I was quite surprised by. Like I expected to meet, you know, 90% of the people here working in the IT field, or like working for a software company. But there's people here running multinational businesses, SMEs, there's people working remotely for all sorts of different types of businesses. So I chose the office here in Regus because I feel that the standard of the office is quite high the location is very good. And I believe it's an opportunity to integrate myself with other companies here, which I'm very interested in doing and meeting new people. I'm really happy that I relocated here. I think there was a moment in Dublin where I just found myself, I had, I can actually tell you the moment that I really wanted to come here. I was cycling through Dublin on the way to work. I had knocked my alarm off like an hour beforehand, where I had planned to go for a run. I'd woken up, it was dark, it was raining. I cycled to work in the rain. I was so downtrodden by the time I got to my office, and I really enjoy my job, that I just thought, life's gotta be different. It's gotta be different. And a friend of mine had sent me the information, of the welcome stamp, so I decided to pursue it. And yeah, I'm very happy I made the decision. So I've come here obviously, on like a trial basis, but I've already made the decision that this is where I'm gonna base myself for the next few years. It's a really good place to live because obviously, the weather's quite good. It's an excellent place to improve your mental health as well...
