The Bahamas Out Islands are way off the beaten path and are amazing places to explore. After an amazing few days on Conception Island we decide it is time to get on the move and set sail. We aim for Rum Cay and decide to continue on sailing to Clarence Town, Long Island. Halfway there we change our minds and decide to head even further south all the way to Crooked Island!

PARADISE FOUND! DESERTED BAHAMIAN OUT ISLAND ALL TO OURSELVES!
Conception Island is definitely the definition of a paradise island to us. Amazing pristine wildlife, long white sandy beach, and almost nobody around. Although there were a couple other boats anchored there with us we barely even saw the people aboard. We had an absolute blast checking out the long tail tropical birds of the island as wall as the green turtles in the flats!

Sailing Deserted Islands - Bahamas
Have you ever wanted to have a tropical island to yourself? We think the Bahamas is one of the few cruising destinations where this is possible! The Plana Cays lie 20 miles from the nearest settlement, and they are uninhabited.
One theory is that this was Columbus' first landfall in the Caribbean. We can't get over the fabulous colour of the water and the miles of white sand beach. There is an off-lying reef so we anchor outside and bring the dinghy in to shore.

Explore Exuma Islands, The Bahamas
This is a short video on Exuma travel & tourism. Go through for detailed information.
Exuma is a laidback Bahamian out-island...in fact a cluster of 365 islands and cays. George Town overlooking the Elizabeth harbour is the main township and the capital of Exuma. There are several lovely pristine beaches scattered all around Exuma. You should take a boat tour to visit the chain of cays. Staniel Cay is the main hub of the cays. Thunderball Grotto located near Staniel Cay is an underwater cavern teeming with corals and marine life... it's ideal for snorkelling and diving.
Visit the pig beach to see and feed swimming pigs, Allen cay to see and feed the endangered Iguanas (large lizard-like creatures), Compass cay to swim with Nurse sharks, the scenic sandbars at Pike Cay, and so much more. Take your lunch at Staniel Cay Yacht Club.
You can also take a sailing trip to the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park... a 176 sq. miles national park covering the protected land and sea area in the cays that has exotic marine life, corals and amazing landscapes and bio-diversity.
There are nice hotels and resorts in Great Exuma (many of them in and around George town). The Fish Fry shacks have eateries that offer amazing local seafood. Conch Salad is very popular here. You should also visit Stocking Island located in the Elizabeth harbour and easily reachable from George Town by water taxi. Other than wonderful beaches, Stocking Island has well-known beach bars like the famous Chat 'n' Chill.
International and domestic flights arrive at Exuma International Airport located near George town. Transportation between the islands of Exuma is mainly by boats. There are taxis in Great and Little Exuma, but no public bus.

Cat Island,The Bahamas.Trip Report with Travel Tips.Part I.
We are inviting you to travel with us to one of the Bahamas remote but very magnificent place Cat island. If you think that real bahamas look like county with bunch of luxury hotels, restaurants casinos and beaches full of people you might be wrong. All of this you can definitely find on the main island Nassau. Where we are going to start our journey. In reality real Bahamas is archipelagos with 700 island large and small and only 30 of them inhabited . To get to one of them we have to take a local air flight on the small plane and we booked Bahamas Western Air to get to the Cat island. Nassau airport is well designed international and local flights located in one terminal that is really convenient. We have a few hours to wait before we catch our flight to Cat island. Flight delays are very common for local flights, do not be surprised. There is another terminal for US flight only. Majority of the visitors and tourist coming to Bahamas from US and it is very convenient because they can clear American custom and fly anywhere in states.Flight is by itself interesting discovery and very intertaining. They find a conch shell to show the camera man. Upon examination, they are surprised when the shell's inhabitant comes out when disturbed. A small Octopus is living in this abandoned conch shell in the Out Islands. This was an unexpected, but thrilling find.
