What I'm going to tell you today is a sweet story.
The story of the fragrant and sweet soil of Marayoor.
When we say about Marayoor, the sweetness of jaggery on the tongue is what everyone feels.
Yes, it is the world famous Marayoor jaggery produced in Kerala. Before we learn about jaggery production, let us first go to the sugarcane field.
When I came to Marayoor, I thought of seeing a jaggery factory. I came to know Kanthlloor Jaggery that is ruined by Omana Balasubhramanyama couples was the famous and one one of theist jaggery factories in Marayoor.
And then I got there without delay.
This is Balan Chettan.
He is now taking us to the garden he leased and is now being harvested.
Balan Chettan was a farmer who stood with us one day without any hesitation when we presented the subject of our filming.
Balan Chetan told us first that there was a little more walk to the farm.
So we followed his steps and started walking.
It is said that maize is cultivated to provide for livestock.
The sugar cane plantation has begun.
Now we walk through the post-harvest farm.
Here the farmers are harvesting.
The cuttings are then made into small bundles.
Using a small axe, they cut the cane out of the cane.
The leaves are then removed with knives, and each bundle of 15 cane stalks is cut.
They are specially trained employees.
Their work is moving fast.
In it a farmer is introduced to how to plant it.
There is also a method of planting sugar cane for the week.
The fields are reconfigured with a trailer and after that the ridge is cut and the sugar cane planting path is cut.
Sugarcane is planted at a distance of 2 feet after digging the bed.
In the rural language, the planting of cuttings is done afterwards.
That is, planting the topmost part of the cane.
One of the reasons is that three plantings are mixed and one plant is planted on top and the other three are planted in the ground.
Similar spacing can also be planted at a distance of half a foot.
The first application of fertilizer is made after 30 days.
It uses chemical fertilizers such as factum phosphorus, urea and potash.
Water is the most important requirement for sugarcane and the water from the dam is brought to the garden. There are special canals for this purpose.
Some people here are preparing cute sugarcane.
Sugarcane leaves are used to tie them. The bundles are then towed to the vehicle and then transported to the jaggery factory.
This is the couple's jaggery manufacturing center.
It is a small cottage which sugar cane is fed and a jaggery crushing center.
All the sugarcane stalks coming from the farm are humidified with this crusher.
It is a diesel-powered machine.
The collected juice is then transported to a large drum adjacent to the jar making oven with the help of a pump set.
It takes about two and a half hours to fill the drum.
This is the first stage of sugarcane making.
This is then used as fuel to prepare the fire needed for jaggery production.
After that we move on to the second stage where a large pot is needed to cook the jaggery.
It is called Copra.
It has to be washed and cleaned like this. It's a bit of a laborious task.
Yet Omana Chechi does it effortlessly.
After washing with good clean water, the collected sugarcane juice is transferred to the copra.
One should pour all the drums ie 750 liters of sugar cane juice to make jaggery once.
Then the fire is lit.
Afterwards, 150 g of lime is added to the boiling point to remove the dirt from the sugar cane.
It is added to separate the dirt from the sugarcane juice.

MUNNAR: #Munnar is a town in the Western Ghats mountain range in India’s Kerala state. A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, it's surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century. Eravikulam National Park, a habitat for the endangered mountain goat Nilgiri tahr, is home to the Lakkam Waterfalls, hiking trails and 2,695m-tall Anamudi Peak.
The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport, which is 110 kilometres away by road. From Cochin, you can hire a cab to get to Munnar. The Madurai International Airport is 140 kilometres away from Munnar.
