This shows what a secondary school (our equivalent of high school) looks like on the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean. This shows students along the road plus the outside of the buildings of the Babonneau Secondary School located in Babonneau, St. Lucia on March 2, 2018. Considering how dilapidated so many of the houses and general infrastructure appear, this school, built in 1999, looks to be in very nice condition. One more detail for anyone interested--although there is no signage anywhere indicating it, according to Google maps, the road this school is on actually does have a name, Plateau Rd.

This is a driver view narrated bus ride from Sir Arthur Lewis Community College to about the middle of the campus of the Babonneau Secondary School on St. Lucia on March 2, 2018. When posting this I wanted to give some street or road names because I've learned that even though nothing is usually posted anywhere on the roads themselves, some of them actually do have names. Not so much in this case--Google Maps directions says the best route is unnamed roads between these places. However, the road that the school is located on does have a name after further research, Plateau Rd.

The lack of names of streets and roads and signage therefor is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to St. Lucia's economic prosperity. As this bus ride shows, there simply is not a lot of economic prosperity on St. Lucia. Indeed, the difference in prosperity between St. Lucia, which went the independence from Britain route in 1979, and Guadeloupe, which stayed affiliated with France and whose residents are actually EU citizens with the full panoply of rights that brings, and is not independent, is visible everywhere. French assistance in the form of money, vehicles, technical assistance and general presence make for a much higher standard of living on Guadeloupe as compared with other Caribbean islands we visited which went independent. In fact, it just struck me but Britain itself right now (December 2022) is learning more and more every day about just how much less prosperous they already are financially and are going to continue to be not being a part of the EU or at least the customs union like Switzerland. Just an observation that small countries totally on their own don't seem to fare well economically is my point, and this is just an observation, not a criticism. St. Lucia has every right to conduct its affairs the way they see fit.

Stony Hill is best known as being a really amazing Caribbean wedding venue. The date is 3/2/18 and this is part of Viking's panoramic bus tour of St. Lucia during a West Indies Explorer cruise. As is typical on St. Lucia, I could ascertain no signs indicating road names, street names, highway numbers or anything directional during this ride. It appears one simply needs to know or have access to a good navigation system while driving anywhere.

This video shows a narrated driver bus ride west along the Alan Bousquet Hwy. from the Babonneau Police Station in Babonneau, St. Lucia (where Ti Chimen Rd. ends) as far as the Castries-Gros Islet Hwy. in Choc, St. Lucia on 3/2/18. Because there is essentially only road directly from the Babonneau Police Station to the Castries-Gros Islet Hwy., for at least most of the way, after looking at sources beyond Google and Bing Maps, I am fairly confident that at least a huge part of this road does have the name Alan Bousquet Hwy. It was frustrating that no source I could find showed the highway going as far east as Babonneau but no other names appeared so whatever part is not the Alan Bousquet Hwy. apparently does not have an assigned name. Given how difficult it was to find this name, I'm pretty sure this is the first video on YouTube showing any part of the Allan Bousquet Hwy. on St. Lucia. As I have mentioned many times, on the ground St. Lucia posts the fewest street and road name signs or road or destination information signs of any place I have visited, including Costa Rica where road signage was also sorely lacking.
