Mumbai International Airport (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) Terminal 2 Departure Tour - Prakhar Sahay

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is One of the best airport in the world and was inaugurated in Januarry 2014.

The airport has two main passenger terminal complexes. Terminal 1 at Santacruz is dedicated for domestic passengers. The new Terminal 2 which is an integrated terminal catering to both international and domestic passengers but now a days flights terminal can change from domestic to internation according to which airline you are travelling.

I’ve travelled many airports in India and abroad but this one has some specialty in it. I can very confidently say that if you have a transit in this airport you will not be bored easily as there is a lot of things to look out for. Also you may easily spot celebrities here.

A modern airport which is designed with a basic shape of a feather of peacock. Incidentally peacock is the national bird of India. This shape is repeated in many components of this beautiful structure of this airport building. These include columns, ceilings, logo, panels etc. The new international terminal T2 is nothing short of a marvel, a fusion of art and technology. The terminal is on of the best in the world and puts India on the world map.

The new Terminal - T-2 is mesmerising and offers a lot to the people. This airport exhibits many cultural and contemporary art works. It is worth watching the airport just roaming inside, if you have time before boarding a flight. Quite nicely decorated and it's huge. Relevant signs at every location to guide you through the way. They provide services to keep you entertained until your boarding starts.

The facilities at this airport are of international level, Check in and luggage collection was well organised and smooth. There are many international brands options to choose from for shoppers, it is like one big shopping mall. Duty free shops are also world class, one big part is its food zone having mouthwatering delicious food option. There are ample food joints and lounges, and the shops are good value for last minute gifts. Smoking zones are clean and well ventilated.

There are nice areas to relax if you have long time transit. The overall atmosphere was calm and serene - unlike most airports. Ground staffs, securities, police everybody are very helpful.

I am amazed at the choice of theme it has. The inclusion of Art and artefacts, installations, sculptures and the sheer grandeur through the exotic interior is breathtaking! A unique airport that celebrates the country's traditions, arts and crafts!

Though there can be long Queue in the security and immigration depending on the time of the day. It gets really busy between 9:00 pm to 2:00 am when many International flights depart.

Airport has lot of parking space there are many five star hotels just outside the airport which is very convenient for businessman and travellers. It has the best connectivity across the globe. The huge Airport witness hundreds of flight everyday from across the globe. There are a lot of approach routes and the traffic to and fro to the airport is also managed well.

The world class airport making travel more easier and enjoyable.

The aquamarine road documentary of Patrick Voillot

English :
Deutsch :

Spanish :

Japanese :
The thread underlying the story of this film is the quest for a precious stone, exceptional in its form and its azure blue colour : the aquamarine.

In the valleys of the Karakoram range in northern Pakistan, an extension of the Himalayas where mountains reach more than 8,000 metres, one finds these wonderful stones in a mine perched high above.

This journey will take us across Pakistan passing through Lahore, a city which is the abode of wrestlers who resemble the sumos : their traditions are ancestral and their practices are astonishing ; lions are their companions.

The roads which lead to the North are lined with trucks decorated like objects of art, reminiscent of ancient caravans.

At the end of the journey, in a village perched at a height of over 3,000 metres, shepherds turned miners exploit the mine of Chumar Bakar.

They extract aquamarine crystals, some weighing several kilograms. Their ancient beliefs lead them to consult a shaman to protect themselves from the wrath of the fairies who reign over these mountains.

The stones which are found follow the same route back, ending their journey at the jewelers of the Place Vendôme in Paris.

BBC's Great Indian Railway Journeys from Amritsar to Shimla Part1 of 4

BBC Great Indian Railway Journeys
Part 1 of Part 4
1) Amritsar to Shimla
Beginning in the Sikh holy city, Michael is dazzled by the beauty of the Golden Temple and awed by the scale of its langar - the world's largest free kitchen. His route then takes him through the Punjab, India's breadbasket. Michael samples traditional chapattis, has a colourful kurta made up in one of the Punjab's biggest cloth markets, and can't resist the foot-tapping rhythms of Punjabi bhangra dancing, made famous by Bollywood. At Kalka, Michael glimpses the Himalayas for the first time and joins the 1906-built mountain railway for a stunning climb to Shimla.

Yes that’s True i have never had a sweet as tasty as Jal Bhara Sandesh in my life. There is more to Kolkata than what meets the eye. If you have missed episode 1 of Kolkata series, you may have a look at it through Playlist.

Following are the details of the places visited by as part of this Kolkat tour.

I think i got little more excited after drinking kesar chai but that’s true i enjoyed the taste and chai after kachori was like beautiful start to the day.

Jalebi Rs. 12
Kesar Chai Rs. 40
Address: 55C, sambhunath pandit lane, bhawanipur
Location:

Victoria Memorial : This is a must visit place, you can spend 2 hours here and learn about the history of Kolkata. I would suggest you to go here early in morning at around 10 am, so you can go along with the first batch of guide, you don’t have to pay any extra cost for the guide.

Ticket Rs. 30 for gallery & garden
Timings 10am to 6 pm
Monday close
Location:

Abar Baithak: More than the taste i enjoyed the cafe ambience, though taste was also great.
Fish & Chips Rs. 290

Location:

Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick: I did a mistake by not visiting this shop again, i wanted to get some parcel done for taking along sweets for my home but eventually bought sandesh for my home from Airport by paying higher price, that was obvious.

I am not exaggerating by saying that if you have Jal Bhara sandesh in Kolkata you will become big fan of this sweet, Not only that but more sweets as well.

Baked Rossogolla Rs. 16 per pcs
Jalbhara Sandesh Rs. 20 per pcs
Mango Curd Rs. 28 per pcs
Address: 2, Paddapukur Road
Location:

6 Ballygunge Place: Though cost of food at this restaurant is high but if you are comfortable paying high price for food you will be deeply impressed by the taste of Bengali food at this fine dining restaurant.

Mochar Paturi Rs. 200
Daab Chingri Rs. 525
Address: 6 ballygunge place
Location:

Hope you enjoyed watching this Episode 2 of our Kolkata, West Bengal food and travel series.

I am deeply impressed by the West Bengal food cuisine, It will not be wrong to say that Kolkata food is underrated… There is so much more that we missed, there wasa 2 day strike in Kolkata when we were there.

We missed those 2 working days, but yes we did our best on available time.

My sincere thanks to all the subscribers of visa2explore who met me there at Kolkata and guided me on tour planning… thanks a lot for your guidance.

Thanks, regards, Harish Bali
