BOTSWANA TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY | 4x4 Safari Road Trip feat. Victoria Falls

Follow us on our road trip safari through southern Africa's wildlife paradise Botswana. We drove through most of Botswana, including all the wildlife-rich areas like the Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe Nationalpark including the Chobe Riverfront and the Kalahari. We explored the Makgadikgadi salt pans in the center of the country, the Gcwihaba Caverns in the West and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the south. We also shortly ventured into Zimbabwe to marvel upon the majestic Victoria Falls. We were lucky enough to spot most of the big, and many small, animals which call Botswana home. These include elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, kudus, oryx, ostriches, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, serval cats, warthogs, springboks, impalas and many more.

Overlanding BOTSWANA | Okavango Delta & the Moremi Game Reserve | Adventure In the Wet season | Ep1

Overlanding BOTSWANA | Okavango Delta & The Moremi Game Reserve | Adventure In the Wet Season

The Okavango Delta is Africa's Garden of Eden. It's a place filled with mystery at every corner, an adventurer's paradise, and a wildlife haven. This is a destination that we continually find ourselves wanting to go back to. And in this episode, we make the excuse to off-road adventure travel this amazing place.

Overlanding in Botswana and adventure traveling in the month of February to the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, isn't alwyas advised when the rain is falling. But, ol Ed and I pack up and make this 18 day adventure one to remember.

We visit, Woodlands Lodge and bush campsites, make a stop at Nata Bird Sanctuary just outside of Nata town, spend a night at Planet Baobab, and then, finally, we make it to the Moremi where we spend our first night at South gate, Maqwee campsites in the wilds of Botswana. Waking up the following day we make the drive through mud and water to Third bridge, in the NW of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. This is a specail place to wild camp, and we are in our absolute element with widlife sightings and the bush at their best.

What an offroad adventure expedition, and a big shout out to the ladies from the Xomae group for assisting us with campsite bookings both in the Moremi and the Nxai Pan National Parks.

This adventure supported by Lacie, Indeflate, and Cross Country Insurance from the financial consultants Netsure.

The Okavango Delta Moremi Game Reserve Overlanding Adventure. ROAM Overlanding 2022 Dry Season Ep1

The Okavango Delta is a global Overlanding destination, it's an area of the world packed with unbelievable amounts of biodiversity and is a dream for many to come and explore. The typical way to explore is through a self drive safari, so we packed our rigs and head for the border where we would be spending 3 weeks exploring eveywhere between Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai Magotho, and Savuti in the Chobe National Park. This was sure to be an amazing expedition! We begin our journey in Nata at the Nata Lodge, before heading to Maun for a couple days at Audi Camp to gather ourselves and resupply before heading into the Okavango Delta it's self with a helicopter flight over the Delta, we then head to camp in Moremi, at the famous Third Bridge where we would camp a couple evenings in rooftoptents, listening to the wild sounds of the animals; Lions, Elephants, Hippo's, Hyena's and more. The following morning we head out to game drive the Mboma loop, and take a boat on the channels of the Okavango delta its self. This is where we would get charged by a Hippo in our boat, which certain shook things up for us a bit! The next day we head to Xakanaka to on our way out of the park, en route to Khwai Magotho.

Top 5 Places To Visit in BOTSWANA | Africa Safari

#botswana #africa #africasafari

Here are the top attractions in Botswana Africa

THE OKAVANGO DELTA

The Okavango Delta, one of the largest freshwater wetlands and inland deltas, remains an extensive and unspoiled wilderness area that has garnered global acclaim. In addition to being recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Delta earned a spot among the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa in 2013.

Spanning between 6,000 and 15,000 square kilometers of the Kalahari Desert in northern Botswana, the Okavango Delta owes its existence to the Okavango (Kavango) River. This remarkable river traverses the heart of the Kalahari Desert, creating a unique inland water system that sustains a rich diversity of bird and wildlife species, as well as the Okavango Delta's dynamic ecosystem.

CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

Chobe National Park is situated within the Okavango Delta in Botswana and encompasses four distinct ecological systems. It is a renowned destination that boasts over 120,000 African elephants, making it one of the top places on earth to witness these majestic animals in their natural habitat. The optimal time to observe these gentle giants of the African bushveld is during the dry season, which falls between May and September, when huge herds gather along the banks of the Chobe River for spectacular sightings.

The untainted wilderness of Chobe National Park not only hosts the world’s largest group of African elephants but also a vast variety of wildlife and birdlife, including numerous buffalo. The Savuti Marsh is known for its incredible wildlife concentration throughout the year, making it one of the best destinations to observe animals in Africa.

Mashatu Game Reserve

Situated in eastern Botswana, the Tuli Block is an awe-inspiring expanse of land that borders South Africa and Zimbabwe, where the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers converge. It is a region replete with abundant wildlife, featuring towering baobab trees, thick riverine forests and dramatic rocky landscapes. In the past, the Tuli Block was comprised of private farms, but it was transformed into a well-maintained conservation area and wildlife sanctuary a few decades ago. Today, the Tuli Block comprises of numerous reserves, including the Mashatu Game Reserve and the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, which is one of the largest privately-owned game reserves in Southern Africa.

MAKGADIKGADI SALT PANS

Makgadikgadi, one of the world's largest salt pans, was formerly a lake spanning an immense 10,000 square kilometers in the north-eastern region of Botswana. Despite its arid and fissured appearance, visitors to this extraordinary part of Botswana will be pleasantly surprised by the abundant wildlife that inhabits it.

In the summer, the bleak and parched landscape of Makgadikgadi transforms into a thriving grassland, which attracts a diverse range of wildlife, including springbok, wildebeest, and zebra, as well as lion and cheetah. Countless flamingos flock to the shallow waters that flood the vast salt pans, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

MOREMI GAME RESERVE

The Moremi Game Reserve, also called the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, is a small yet significant reserve located in Botswana. It covers one third of the Okavango Delta and is adjacent to the Chobe National Park. The reserve is known for its vast diversity and high concentration of African wildlife, which makes it a top tourist attraction in Botswana for wildlife enthusiasts.

The Moremi Game Reserve and its neighboring private land concessions in the Okavango are known for providing an exceptional environment to see rare wildlife species in their natural habitat. This includes the endangered Wild Dogs as well as other unique species such as the Black-maned Kalahari Lion, Sitatunga, Puku and Red Lechwe antelope, Brown Hyena, the African Skimmer and Aardvark.

Botswana | Road Trip | 2019: (S02 E06)

In the final episode of season 2, I take a road trip from South Africa to Botswana with my good friends, Nic and Richard. The main focus of this trip was to experience the Okavango Delta, little did we know that getting there would be a remarkable experience of its own.
The trip started in Johannesburg, South Africa and we crossed into Botswana through the Groblersbrug border gate. Having JUST arrived in time before the border gate closes, our journey had officially began!
Having being warned about animals running across the roads at night, we decided to avoid driving at night and had our first pit stop in Serowe.
The following morning we woke up before sunrise and hit the road! As the sun rose over the savanna landscapes, we had to pull over to appreciate the beauty and put our cameras and drone to good use.
Driving between towns I was personally fascinated as to how raw Botswana actually is, way above my expectations. As you drive you realize that there are no fences separating you from raw nature. When some friends warned us about the animals prior to our road trip, we realized that they were not exaggerating. It is scarce to cover a stretch of road WITHOUT encountering any animal. Even though the more common animals are wild cows and donkeys, we did encounter wild pigs, meerkats, vultures and elephants. Thats right, there are elephants roaming freely as you drive between towns.
Richard's Toyota Hilux D4D was the perfect vehicle for this sort of road trip. It was comfortable and being a 4x4, it gave us the opportunity to wander off from the main roads into the unknown and experience natural beauty at its fullest, which we did.
After a scenic drive, we finally reached our main destination, Maun. This is the closest town within the Okavango Delta. We slept the night there and headed off on a tour of the Delta early the following morning. We began the tour with a drive to the delta in an open safari 4x4, Toyota of course. We were fortunate enough to be able to get the full Okavango Delta experience in a local Mokoro (canoe) and be able to enjoy the peace, quietness and sight of wildlife such as elephants, crocodiles and hippos. After about an hour on the Mokoro we were back on land well within the Okavango Delta and setting off on a hike before a delicious lunch and well needed refreshments to cool off from the blistering African heat. During our lunch break and I did manage to shoot some awesome footage of the Delta with my drone, but unfortunately had to cut the video short as my Parot became the target of a lurking Fish Eagle.
After spending a couple of days in the North of Botswana it was time to head back to Johannesburg. We decided to drive back down via a different rout, namely on the A3 freeway, on the West side of the Central Kalahari Nature Reserve.
We had our final pit stop in Kang where we enjoyed an evening barbecue to end our journey and recap on the experience.
