Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America.
Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not!

Welcome to Untie The Lines! my name is Nike, I bought an aluminum 37 foot sailboat in Panama in 2013 that I named KARL. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean.
In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America.
In this Episode, Paul, Luca and I go on a Little dinghi excursion to a beautiful small island close to our anchorage Espiritu Santo (Panama). We snorkel but unfortunately we find find nothing to eat underwater.
Back on board, I tackle a boat repair project, building a new hatch cover for my aft cabin. Since it’s rainy season, I have to take a bottle break from my outside project and decide to build a cute woven shelf basket from recycled ocean plastic. In 2017 we bought our first sprinter van and spent 30 days renovating it into our dream tiny home. The plan was to van life around the world and we'd made it all the way from Canada to Africa. Fast forward to COVID...us abandoning our van in a Moroccan parking lot, flying home to Canada, converting yet another van, and then moving to our cabin in the woods. Now, we're taking the plunge into BOAT LIFE!
We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. And as much as we love cabin life we've definitely been craving an adventure so we moved onto a boat for 72 hours to explore the Rideau Canal system!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ????????????

We thought it would be fun to give you an inside look on how we live intentionally each day by making our morning routines productive while living onboard of our sailboat full-time. Being a liveaboard of a floating tiny home means an ever-changing schedule but these are some of the things we incorporate into our lives most mornings.
