A380 wheels close-up

The world's largest production aircraft needs a lot of wheels to support its max takeoff and landing weights of around 600 tonnes and 400 tonnes respectively.

It's almost like visual music watching the complex movements of the undercarriage/landing gear as it neatly folds away or absorbs huge landing punishment.

Update 27.2.22 - According to a tweet from Ukraine's minister of foreign affairs, this aircraft has been destroyed at Hostomel Airport outside Kyiv due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. ????

Here we have a very special video - The World's Largest Aircraft, the Antonov An-255 Mriya, taking off from RAF Brize Norton, UK.

In this video you will see the 6 engine beast startup and taxi to runway 25 at Royal Air Force Brize Norton (BZZ/EGVN). After receiving their ATC clearance they line up on the runway and perform engine runs for a few minutes, causing us spectators to duck for cover from the immense thrust and debris! Check out the whole aircraft wobbling, particularly the tailplane, as they engines are powered up! Full ATC is included in the video ????????

The Antonov 225 (UR-82060) landed at around 20:30 local time on the 29th August 2018 from Kiev's Hostomel Airport (GML/UKKM). After a brief night stop it then departed to Athens (ATH/LGAV) on the 30th August 2018 at around 16:00 local time.

The AN-225 is the largest aircraft in the world and is the only aircraft that features six turbofan engines. It has the capability to transport up to 250 tonnes of cargo, including single pieces weighing up to 200 tonnes over short and medium haul routes.

A321 TOGA and Tail Strike!

Our feed is always around 20 seconds out after we hit the ‘go live’ button (quite a bit more complexed than that). But as we started the feed, this A321neo from Aberdeen was on approach so we went for it. But the feed went ‘live’ to the viewers as the jet was climbing-out. So here it is! A full-on Touch and go, with a tail strike - checkout the paint dust after contact! You can also see the empennage shaking as it drags.
I thought the pilot had it, but the wind was swirling over the Office buildings on the Bath Road. And there’s a gap between the open reach building and the next set of office buildings, which allows the gusts to flow unrestricted across the runway.
In my view, the pilot deserves a medal! @BritishAirways training could use this in a scenario - happy to supply the footage FOC chaps ???? but seriously, well done that Pilot.
I have to say, I had no chance to watch it back during the live, but Gilly had a quick look and called Tail Strike. I knew it was close, but due to the small monitor and being ‘in the moment’ I missed the tail drag. So good spot GP.
This has to go down as one of our best moments, just a shame we were 20 seconds late. Still, here’s how it’s played-out

Lukla Airport.. Landing & Takeoff October 14, 2022 | Most dangerous Airport in the world

Lukla Airport is one of the busiest airports in Nepal. This airport is situated at an altitude of 2,845 meters above sea level in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It serves as the gateway to the Everest region and is the starting point for treks to Mount Everest Base Camp. In this video, we can see the plane landing and takeoff at Lukla airport which is the world's most dangerous airport due to its location in the Himalayas and its short, sloping runway.

The airport's runway is quite short, measuring about 527 meters (1,729 feet) in length, and it has a significant slope, making it one of the most difficult runways in the world. The runway is built into the mountainside, and its steep incline helps planes slow down upon landing and gain speed during takeoff.

Lukla Airport primarily serves as a domestic airport, connecting Kathmandu (Tribhuvan International Airport) with Lukla. It is a crucial transportation link for trekkers and climbers heading to the Everest region.

Tenzing-Hillary airport is named after Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa of Nepal, who were the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953.

Weather Challenges in Lukla Airport is prone to adverse weather conditions, including fog, high winds, and low visibility, which can lead to flight delays and cancellations. Due to these challenges, it's essential for travelers to be flexible with their plans when flying to or from Lukla.

The airport plays a significant role in the tourism industry of Nepal, as it provides access to the Khumbu region, which is a popular destination for trekkers, mountaineers, and adventure enthusiasts. Many treks in the Everest region start or end at Lukla.
