Quepos Complete Guided Waking Tour | Welcome to Paradise In Costa Rica

All You Need to Know about Quepos near Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica. Guided Walking Tour + Marina Pez Vela. Welcome to Paradise in Central America.

Today I take you around Quepos in Puntarenas province near Manuel Antonio National Park on a walking tour guide. We visit downtown Quepos and the best attractions in the area. Starting from the Pacific Ocean walk from the beautiful Quepos sign (perfect place to take souvenir pictures). We then get to Marina Pez Vela, one of the best harbors in Central America. Is it worth mooring there? We shall find out. I show you the best and cheapest restaurant for cocktails. We spot many animals along the way such as iguanas.

Later we get to Parque Nahomi in Quepos, the perfect place for swimming and snorkelling, even for kids. The water here is crystal clear with buoys strung together by rope, to create safe swimming area. We also discuss the issue of no pavements / sidewalks in Costa Rica, making certain destinations unsafe to do on foot.

At the end of the day, I show you the very town centre of Quepos, the place of many shops, restaurants, churches, bars and clubs. Afterwards heading back to my favorite apartment / accommodation in Quepos called Pura Vida Guesthouse, taking a rural, country road.

The Pacific Coast of Costa Rica offers a wide range of Highlights that define the country as a dream destination. From green jungles with waterfalls and raging rivers to numerous beautiful beaches and an enormous variety of wildlife.

During my 4 week lasting trip through Costa Rica I spent the majority of my time in this part of the country. After joining an active tour that focused on rafting, hiking and local living, I got to explore the Pacific Coast from Santa Teresa all the way down to Uvita independently. Besides surfing I used my time to visit a few national parks along the way and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere in the smaller beach villages a bit off the tourist route.

Things to do in Costa Rica as shown in this episode:
- Santa Teresa
- Montezuma
- Mal Pais
- Manuel Antonio National Park
- Dominical
- Rio Savegre
- Uvita

UPDATE JUNE 2021: Traveling to Costa Rica During Covid

Here is the COVID update as of June 2021. In brief YES come to Costa Rica. There are minor inconveniences due to COVID restrictions but it is a brilliant time to travel. Availability at hotels, vacation rentals, cars available to rent. Less traffic, empty beaches. Below I have put links to all the key resources you need before you travel, and the procedures for testing prior to your return.
1. Beforeyoufly
Please check your embassy’s current advice, see the links below. Most countries allow you to visit Costa RIca, and Costa Rica allows most nationalities in. You need to buy insurance approved by the Costa Rican government, Trawick is constantly recommended but there are others below that work well and are reasonably priced. Guide insurance rates are under $200 for a 90 day stay but depends on your age/ price of airline ticket etc.
You then need to fill in the Costa Rican travel passport, see the link below. No need to print it, but have it saved on your phone.
No COVID test is required when you are flying in to Costa Rica.
2. Flying to Costa Rica - Airports and Immigration
Airports seem to be returning to normality. Most shops and restaurants are now open in the terminals. You need to wear a mask from when you arrive at the airport, through when you leave the Costa Rican airport, so it could be many hours, i found the cheap masks rubbing behind my ears. Often the airlines won't let you check in online and sail through; they want a face to face meet in order to check your insurance and travel passport.
Costa Rican immigration wait time and checks don't seem to have changed. They check you meet the requirements, but there are less travellers, so on balance the time waiting in line hasn't changed much
3. Day to Day living in CR under COVID
COVID rules are countrywide, but restrictions in the capital San Jose seem to be more strict, because they are enforced. At the beaches everything is open as normal and the attitude much more relaxed, but they do have to close at 9pm.. If you want to continue past 9pm there always seem to be pop up parties on the street, in villas or on the beach. There is some nominal effort to social distance but no one seems to care so it doesn't really happen. In general there is slightly less tourism, so beaches are empty, and there is always availability at hotels, car hire places and vacation rentals. The only places that seem to implement mask wearing are the supermarkets and stores.

There are vehicular restrictions, odd and even days depending on the last number on your license plate. This does not apply to hire cars, who can drive every day.
4. Preparing to return home
You need to book the COVID test about a week ahead of your departure date. You need to do a test within 3 days of your departure. US only requires the rapid/antigen/flow test, which returns results in a matter of hours. The UK requires a PCR test and here it gets complicated because it can take up to 48 hours to get the result. Another complication is that the beaches don't have test centers, so they send the samples to San Jose so that can add to the time. Mysteriously my results came back in under 24 hours so not sure what happened there. When you go for the test then take your passport and flight info. You will need to fill in a badly organized questionnaire called mipreubacovid (my Covid test). Double check you fill in what you are supposed to, it is easy to miss a section, click send and then it throws you back to the start, i had to do it 5 or 6 times
5. Costa Rica airports
I wasn't allowed to check in online, because they want to check your COVID test before you get your boarding pass. The planes were about half full and were somewhat back to normal. Both Costa Rica airports are scandalously expensive so eat and drink before you arrive. Eg. $6 for a bottle of water that is $2 in a supermarket

COLORFUL WALK ???? Stroll Through QUEPOS, Costa Rica ???????? (2021)

This is Quepos, Costa Rica, which is a smaller fishing town on the Pacific Side and south of San Jose ????????

→ We'll start at the Marina, which is on the south end of town. There are a few hotels and short term rentals up the hill behind the Marina, with lots of wildlife around including monkeys.

→ Continue north and you'll find a skate park and walking path along the water. Lots of benches and sitting areas, as well as people fishing off the rocks.

→ We turn right on Av. 2, which is where there's a Farmers Market on Friday's at around 4pm. It'll be across from the very colorful Parque Central de Quepos. This street is where you'll start finding lots of restaurants and shops. Further down Av. 2, there's a soccer field and an intersection with Calle 5. If you turn right on Calle 5 you'll head towards Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio, which is highly recommended. You can catch a bus from Quepos to Manuel Antonia for about 330 colones(very cheap). The bus stops all along the route.

→ Down Calle 5 we'll see Parroquia Inmaculada Concepción de María, a church with great architecture. At the corner of Calle 5 and Av. 5 there's car rentals and Hotel Le Priss Inn, a very cool looking hotel. Calle 5 / Av. 5 is very busy and seems chaotic, but is orderly if you're confident with driving.

→ Turning left down Av. 5, there's more supermarkets for stocking up on your food or housing needs while you're here. We'll go by La Madre Park as well, which has a path that will take you over to more local restaurants and hotels. Check out the food at De La Finca for sure.

→ Back towards the water, and we'll hit highway 235. On this strip there's a tackle shop for fishing, coffee shops and hotels. The Quepos welcome sign is here, which is great for a photo. At night there's lots of fishing near this sign while it's high tide. During the day you can watch surfers in the ocean as well.

Travelling in Costa Rica is much easier when you know some conversational Spanish. Many locals will understand English, but it will ease your experience by knowing some basic Spanish in advance. You'll be able to ask better questions and understand signs/shop owners. I recommend using Rosetta Stone before you even leave for your trip, and when you arrive you can refine your conversational skills.

BEST & FREE Things TO DO In Manuel Antonio | Cheap Costa Rica Travel Guide

Manuel Antonio Tour. Best things to do for free & cheap in Costa Rica. Low Budget Travel Guide & Advice. Free beaches, surfing, diving & snorkelling spots, best restaurants, Playa Espadilla. Top money saving tips while visiting Costa Rica. Things to do in Puntarenas beside the Manuel Antonio National Park.

Today we take the bus from Quepos to Manuel Antonio. The journey to get there is short and cheap, under 500 Colones per person. We get out near El Avion restaurant, the most famous restaurant in the area. The restaurant is in a shape of an airplane and is very well known for its beautiful views and wonderful sunset setting. We’ve been wanting to go to El Avion for quite sometime as we’ve heard a lot about it but once we get there we realise the restaurant is extremely overpriced, the customer service there was also not the kindest, the staff was rude and not accommodating. We decided to keep walking and we found an amazing restaurant called Raphael’s Terrazas. Raphael’s Terrazas is cheaper than El Avion, with incredible customer service and the most stunning view over the Pacific Coast.

However, later we take you around the down town of Manuel Antonio, near the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park. Here I show you the cheapest & tastiest food / restaurant in Costa Rica. Watch to find out the name of it. We also take a walk down Playa Espadilla, the beautiful beach by the national park which is free to enter - perfect surf and snorkel spot. We also go on a bush walk down the river where we can see some exotic animals. Today we can really feel the rainy season in Costa Rica. Watch to find out what the rainy season in Costa Rica looks like and what we end up doing next. We also tell you about our next plans - starting Workaway in exchange for free accommodation and food.

Manuel Antonio National Park | Tour & Beaches | Costa Rica | Ep. 152

#manualantonionationalparkguidedtour#manualantonionationalparkguidedtourComing to Manuel Antonio National Park, what are the things to do? Of course is to check out some animals. Personally, I am looking for sloths, as I think they are the cutest animals ever! I joined a guided walking tour so I won't miss them. In fact, I could see more things than I was expecting such as differnet kinds of monkeys.

Inside the Manuel Antional National Park, there are 4 beaches. People comment that they are nicer than the public beaches outside, but the park ticket is $18 and you are not allow to bring food in. If you are hungry, a cafeteria in the park is available.

Manuel Antonio National Park is closed every Tuesday. It can be accessed easily by bus.

According to the official website, ticket can only be purchased online with passport number. In fact, you can also purchase the ticekt at the gate with card (no cash).

Manuel Antonio/Quepos Zip Coaster in Costa Rica

In July 2021 we visited the Quepos/ Manuel Antonio area of Costa Rica. We had looked on the internet for something fun to do in the area with our 10 and 13 year old boys and they found the Zip Coaster. We decided one morning we would go and check it out. They loved it! The ride is pretty quick, only about 1-2 minutes long, but a new experience. They both enjoy roller coaster and zip lining, so they thought it was a great idea to combine the two. They had so much fun, they were able to convince mom to go and give it a try. She screamed nearly half way down and had a great time. If you have an hour or so to do something unique, check out the Zip Coaster in Manuel Antonio/Quepos.
