Bratislava is located in southwestern Slovakia at the foot of the Little Carpathians, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bratislava received its contemporary name in 1919. Until then, it was mostly known by its German name, Pressburg.

First Thoughts on Slovakia | We Spent 48 Hours in Bratislava
We are so excited to be here in Slovakia, we have 48 hours in Bratislava to see and do and eat as much as possible before our road trip around the country begins!

DAY TRIPPIN' BETWEEN THE WORLD'S 2 CLOSEST CAPITALS (Vienna to Bratislava)
In this video, we take a day trip between 2 of the world's closest capitals: Vienna, Austria and Bratislava, Slovakia! We were very excited for this trip because all the good things we've heard about Bratislava!
We start off traveling by train between the two cities. The total trip only takes about an hour so it's the perfect day trip from Vienna! After we got off the train we were able to enjoy the beautiful walk into the downtown area and see St. Michael's gate, which stands out with its unique architecture and teal color. Unfortunately, it started to rain on us but we still enjoyed our time as much as possible by going to Primate's Palace. We also had the palace all to ourselves and were able to walk around and take many videos and pictures.
After Primate's, we headed over to the BLUE CHURCH which is a unique and colorful building that slightly resembled a marshmallow candy! Next, we went to St. Martin's Cathedral and toured the Crypts underneath the church.
One amazing thing about Bratislava was that a lot of the tourist attractions were affordable (1-3 euros) and informative. It was such a cool experience to be able to hop on a train and within a short hour we entered a completely new country with a different country with its very own language, architecture, culture, and food.
We had an amazing time and would love to explore more of the country (and maybe we will soon hehehe)

Hey y’all, we’re Alyssa & Noah, we’re Canadians who travel vlog & blog while we backpack around the world. We have a passion for travel, so much so that we have transitioned to a long-term travel lifestyle, but we’re broke post-grads so everything we do is on a budget!
Our travel journey started in 2018 when we took our first trip together. Immediately, we both caught the travel bug and we started planning our next trip on the flight home. From 2018-2020 we did the normal thing that university students / people with full-time jobs do, we took our 2-3 week vacations each year and we had the best times of our lives backpacking. Eventually, the short trips just weren’t enough for us and we really craved more of an immersive experience, to really live in different countries and fully experience the cultures. We both expressed this interest to travel more and we were so relieved that we felt the same. Ever since, travel has become an integral part of who we are individually and has come to play an important role in our relationship. Once we had both finished our university degrees, we decided it was finally time and we transitioned to a long-term travel lifestyle. As of September 2020, we have been backpacking through Europe, experiencing other cultures, staying in hostels & AirBnBs, and traveling on a budget.
This last year has been really difficult due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. When we first left Canada in 2020, we were told that everything would be okay and there were no problems with traveling to Italy. Of course, everything got a lot worse than any of us could ever imagine or expect. Unfortunately, we quit our jobs, gave up our apartment, and all of our belongings are in our parents’ house. So, it’s not an option for us to go back home to Canada, so we are in Europe trying to make the best of a bad situation. We are following health & safety regulations for each country, traveling as safely as we possibly can: wearing our masks all the time and constantly staying updated on travel advisories and travel updates.
Over the years, we’ve learned a lot about traveling and we want to share all our tips and trick as well as our ongoing backpacking adventures with you! We hope to inspire you to travel and help you to plan your next adventure!

How Do Slovak Villagers React To a Black Foreigner??
A foreigner travelling in the most remote villages tourists don’t go. Borinka is a village and municipality in western Slovakia in Malacky District in the Bratislava Region, at the foothills of the Little Carpathians, best known for the Pajštún Castle, and has many weekend homes. Dračí hrádok are another castle ruins located in its vicinity. People would like to know about my travels in Europe if I have ever came across any racism or do I find it hard, well here it is. This is the case in most of my travels in the villages and going remote places and literally just anywhere in general. You will find the answer in this video.

We've been backpacking Eastern Europe for over a month now and one of the major stop that popped up on our route was Bratislava. Do you know what multiple people told us? Skip it. We weren't convinced and decided to visit anyways. Slovakia is a unique country and has a lot to offer. We had so much fun running around Bratislava, seeing amazing castles, the old town and eating A LOT of cheese!(: We hope this travel guide helps you decide what to do in Bratislava!

In this video I will talk about the best areas in Bratislava where you can stay as a tourist.
$ 0 City tour in Bratislava | Bratislava Walking tour 4k | Honest guide
we spent $ 0 to have an old town tour in bratislava.
we did not pay for any entrance ticket and still visited many places. we traveled there from vienna and booked flixbus, ticket costs were only 5 euro one way/person. the bus ride took around 1 hour and was comfortable.
we took the bus around 08.00 am. first we visited all the churches in the old town, which were free to enter, understandably i did not record anything inside.
a thing i realised while we were walking around, is, that there are name boards nearly everywhere that lead you and to find all the places easily. we spend 3 hours inside the old town and decided to have our first meal at starbucks, the staff was very friendly and spoke english as well. afterwards we went on and walked a bit outside of the old town.
bratislava is not that much of a big city and you need only a few hours to visit all places. around 2 o'clock we checked into the hotel which was located 1.5 km away from the city and took 15 minutes to reach by foot.
we requested a room with a balcony and got a view over another part of the city. I'm gonna upload another video with the view from the balcony, while the sun was setting. in the evening we went out again for dinner and i need to suggest everyone, if you wanna go to a traditional slovakian restaurant, you should reserve a table beforehand.
there were not alot tourists during day time, but alot at night. we could not have dinner where we planned to go, but we found another tasty chinese restaurant near. usually the food as well as drinks are a bit cheaper than in vienna.
on the second day we had breakfast in our hotel which was delicious due to alot options to choose from.
after we checked out we wanted to visit devin castle, 12 km away from our hotel, we ordered a bolt taxi. we had a convenient drive, it was about noon when we arrived. if you plan to visit this castle, do not go between noon and 13.00 pm because they close it for sanitation. we decided to not go inside as it had 33° celsius that day and that was definitely too hot for us. our bus back departed at 18:00 pm at SPN Most but we decided to visit the famous aupark shopping mall for lunch first. we went to an asian restaurant, where we had a buffet. the flixbus station was a bit hard to find as you cant find any sign for the departing spot. if you take flixbus, make sure to ask someone there. all in all i can tell bratislava was worth a visit and it was cheaper than in vienna, but if you are vegan it will be a bit hard to find great plant based meals.

24 Hours in the Most UNDERRATED City - Bratislava ????????
As a short stop on our Interrail adventure, we visit Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia!
Everywhere we had read that one day is more than enough, and some people even suggest to only visit it as a daytrip from Vienna, so we decided to stay for 24 hours.
But man, those people have no idea what they're talking about!
Our 24 hours in the cozy little city just gives us an appetite for more, and we can say that this is perhaps the most underrated city in the whole region!

Bratislava Slovakia (Sightseeing,Best Things to do)
Bratislava is the capital and largest city of Slovakia. Officially, the population of the city is about 440,000 however, it is estimated to be more than 660,000. Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia at the foot of the Little Carpathians, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two sovereign states.
The city's history has been influenced by people of many nations and religions, including Austrians, Bulgarians, Croats, Czechs, Germans, Hungarians, Jews, Serbs and Slovaks. It was the coronation site and legislative center and capital of the Kingdom of Hungary from 1536 to 1783 eleven Hungarian kings and eight queens were crowned in St. Martin's Cathedral. Most Hungarian parliament assemblies were held here from the 17th century until the Hungarian Reform Era, and the city has been home to many Hungarian, German and Slovak historical figures.
