We found a bunch of unique and delicious Vietnamese street foods that you really need to try, all around Hanoi's old quarter! Despite this area being quite tourist, we found a lot of delicious food, so far, this has been the BEST street food city I've visited in Southeast asia!

In this Vietnam Street Food tour video, Myself (Trevor James, The Food Ranger), am taking you on a food street journey to many delicious, mouthwatering street food places around Hanoi in Northern Vietnam. If you're deciding whether or not to travel to Vietnam for the street food, you really need to come visit Hanoi. You can enjoy unique Vietnamese street foods hidden in Hanoi's old quarter alleyways and try classic Vietnam cuisine specialties like Pho for Breakfast, Bun Cha for lunch, A ton of different rice noodle dishes, and a ton of other hidden delights.

Over the past 3 years, I've filmed and eaten street food around China, including locations like Chengdu, Lanzhou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Beijing, Wuhan, Leshan, Shanghai, and Xinjiang's Silk Road. So far, the street food in each of these locations has been the best street food around the world! BUT, I haven't shot a ton of street food in Southeast Asia, so we made it our goal to come to Vietnam to try the street foods. So far, it has totally been worth it!

Vietnamese cuisine is so delicious, and even though I've only been here a short while, I'm sure that it would really need a lifetime to eat all of it. I've decided to stay living in China, and move around to other countries like Vietnam for another year or two or even more, shooting delicious street food in china for you and across asia as well!

Here are the addresses and locations and restaurant names for the Vietnam street food I had in this Hanoi, Vietnam travel video. Most locations were deep in Hanoi's old quarter alleyways!

1) Famous Vietnamese Breakfast Pho @
Pho thin 13 lo duc
2) Delicious Bun Cha AKA Vermicelli Noodles with BBQ pork:
Bún Chả Hàng Quạt, 74 Hang Quat, Hanoi, Vietnam
3) Very delicious Bahn Xeo (rice flour crepes/pancakes)

EXTREME Vietnamese Street Food - 5 Must Eat Foods in Hanoi!!

???????? Vietnam Street Food - Ultimate Pho Tour:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

HANOI, VIETNAM - Today we’re going on an ultimate Vietnamese street food tour to eat 5 of the must eat Vietnamese foods in Hanoi, that are not pho. I’m hanging out with local food expert @Hanoifood from Hanoi Food. We’re eating some local favorite Vietnamese dishes and some extreme dishes as well. It’s going to be delicious!

Thank you to @Hanoifood for taking me on this amazing Hanoi street food tour:

Here are all the places we ate:

1. Xôi Xéo
Location: Xôi Mây (
Price: 15,000 VND ($0.63) per bowl
One of the common breakfasts in northern Vietnam is sticky rice with toppings. She has to be one of the fastest food assemblers in all of Vietnam!

2. Bún Riêu
Location: Bún riêu Hàng Lược (
Price: 75,000 VND ($3.15) for fully loaded bowl
Pho is extremely common in Vietnam, but there are so many other noodle soups, and bun rieu is one of the best. This place is extremely popular and we ordered it fully loaded!

3. Bún Chả
Bún Chả Hàng Quạt (
Price: 45,000 VND ($1.89) per portion
If there’s one dish that you have to eat when you’re in Hanoi, Vietnam, it would be bun cha for lunch. The combination of grilled pork in a soup of fish sauce with noodles and vegetables is heavenly.

4. Bún ốc
Location: Bún ốc cô Huệ (
Price: 40,000 VND ($1.68) per bowl
One of Khoa’s favorite local dishes is bun oc, or snails and noodles. We specifically tried the cold version with giant snails!

5. Cháo
Location: Cháo Sườn Sụn Huyền Anh Đồng Xuân (
Price: 35,000 VND ($1.47) per bowl
Another common dish in Vietnam is chao, or congee, rice porridge. Rather than being chunk with rice grains, this was one of the smoothest bowls of congee ever.

6. Chả Rươi
Location: Cửa Hàng Chả Rươi Hưng Thịnh (
Price: 35,000 VND ($1.47) per piece, we ate 5
One more extreme Vietnamese food we had to try was cha ruoi, a sandworm pancake. A little bizarre, but proved to be one of the best meals of the day!

Thank you for watching this ultimate Vietnamese street food tour in Hanoi!

Ting Ting and I (Trevor James, The Food Ranger), made our way to Vietnam solely to eat street food. Since we love street food around the world, we decided that Vietnam was the perfect holiday destination for street food to try, because it's supposed to be the best and we love watching new street food recipes and street food flavors as we adventure down deep, back alleyways, getting lost into new street food worlds. So far, in our Vietnamese street food tour series, we've eaten street food in Hanoi, and then we took the sleeper train south 12 hours to Hue. Hue is the old ancient capital of Vietnam, and is packed full of different street food to try. We spent 4 days here eating and couldn't get enough of all the street food. Asian street food is the best, and in Vietnam, it doesn't get any better!

We found 11 different Vietnamese street foods in this video. If you arrive here looking to eat, you can follow along with these addresses:

1) Bun Bo hue @02:44- The specialty street food Beef and pork broth noodle soup of Hue, Vietnam - It’s absolutely rich and delicious! Found at the Dong Ba market early morning around 730am. Go to the outside of the street market and find the old ladies with big pots of good street food and you’ll discover a ton!
2) Bun Hen @ 06:10 Spicy Clam noodle soup - Also found at the Dong Ba Market in Hue, Vietnam, in the early morning! Just look around the outside of the market, the perimeter, not on the inside.
3) Banh Tam Banana Leaf @ 09:44 wrapped around marinated shrimp - Found directly beside the Bun Hen at Dong Ba market
4) Veg Soup @ 11:27 - Also found at Dong Ba Street Food Market in Hue, Vietnam
5) Bun Tith Nuong @ 14:37 Grilled pork over top of rice noodles. These was my favorite meal from Hue, and so cheap at 10,000 Vietnamese dong! Bun Thit Nuong 66 Bạch Đằng
6) Banh Mi Vietnamese Sandwich @ 17:55- This one was quite average. But still fun to eat! This one was at the intersection of Xuan 68 and Le Thanh Ton street inside Hue’s old city.
7) Douhua Silken Tofu @ 21:27 - This was a street food vendor carrying the food on wooden poles, so you have to be lucky at the right place at the right time. We were at the location below around 4:30 PM and she came along.
8) Banh Tran Truong “Vietnamese Pizza made from rice paper” @ 22:54. You can find this one inside the old city on 14 Le Thanh Ton Street in Hue, Vietnam
9) Banh Ep - Flattened rice paper dough with raw egg grilled @ 22:54 - Same location as the Vietnamese rice paper pizza
10) Nem Lui Vietnamese Pork Skewers @ 25:56 - These were found at 241 Huynh Thuc Khang - TP, Hue, Vietnam
11) Banh Xeo Vietnamese pancakes @ 25:56 - Same location as above, 241 Hyun Thuc Khang - TP. Hue, Vietnam

Unique WHOLE DUCK Barbecue!! ???????? Vietnamese Food in Rural Village, Ha Giang!!

???????? Vietnamese Street Food Tour:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

HA GIANG VIETNAM - Welcome to Ha Giang, in the mountains of northern Vietnam, on the border of China. Today we’re with Mr. Thien at his homestay where he and his family will be cooking a full Tay People festival meal - including a five colored sticky rice, a whole duck, a whole pig, and a fish.

A big thank you to YESD Travel Vietnam for making this happen: Highly recommended for authentic and responsible tours in Vietnam.

When we arrived they were already beginning the meal preparations. We were lucky to see the entire cooking process from start to finish. One of the traditional foods of the Tay People is five colored sticky rice, each color made from a natural coloring and steamed. Along with the sticky rice we had a huge assortment of pork dishes, including fresh blood and organ sausage, boiled meat, grilled meat, and probably my favorite of the meal - roasted duck stuffed with Kumquat leaves.

When the food was ready, they presented it on trays over banana leaves with a chili dipping sauce. Food in Northern Vietnam is not only about eating, but it’s about socializing, talking, drinking, and eating together.

Hanoi street food tour 2023, Hanoi Vietnam

Authentic street food must try in Hanoi, Vietnam, the top 5 must try for your visit in Vietnam #hanoi #hanoifood #vietnam #vietnamfood #hanoitravel #hanoifoodtour
Details & addresses:

Pho, which is usually considered Vietnam's national cuisine, stands out as the most renowned street food in Hanoi. This yummy beef noodle soup consists of a flavorful broth, rice noodles, and thinly sliced beef served with a variety of fresh herbs, raw vegetables, and lime wedges. Pho can be found in almost every corner of Hanoi. Vietnamese people can eat Pho all day, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Two well-known places are Phở Thìn Bờ Hồ & Pho Thin 13 Lo Duc Str (Phở Thìn 13 Lò Đúc). Having the same name, they are completely different. The owners of both stores coincidentally have the same last name.

Phở Thìn Bờ Hồ is located opposite Ngoc Son temple in Sword Lake. The store was established nearly 70 years ago in 1955 by a man named Thin. The store serves traditional styles including rare, well-done, or nam gau beef noodles. This store in fact still remains the same as it was created 70 years ago sharing a tiny lane with local people inside. It doesn’t have a proper bathroom though.

Pho Thin 13 Lo Duc Str was established 24 years later in 1979. It does not serve traditional styles, instead, the beef is cut thinly and stir-fried, and beef noodles are served with a lot of green shallot.

Bun Cha is a popular lunch choice for locals and can be found in most districts of Hanoi.
Bun Cha is a dish of grilled pork with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, and sauce with carrot and green papaya. The pork mince and sliced pork belly are marinated with fish sauce, sugar, onion, and garlic.
You can try Bun Cha at Bun Cha Huong Lien which is widely known as “Obama Bun Cha” since the former US president – Barack Obama and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain dined there during their visit to Hanoi. The shop actually put the dining set served on that night in a grass box and photos of the events are hung around the shop. You can order the bun cha by itself or the combo bu cha with the crispy fried seafood roll and a can of Hanoi beer. We went there during lunch time and the restaurant was packed with many locals and visitors.

Kem Ice Cream
If you are around the center of Hanoi or around Sword Lake, you definitely should try out the delicious local Vietnamese Ice cream here. Kem Trang Tien was founded 65 years ago in 1958. You can order ice cream in a cone, stick, or cup or buy a mochi or an ice cream box. There are different flavors of ice cream to choose from including green bean, rice flake, taro, coconut milk, and cocoa. You can choose to have vanilla, coffee, green tea, or strawberry mochi.

Bun Dau Mam Tom is a famous Hanoi street food made of tofu, rice vermicelli noodles, and boiled pork served with fermented shrimp paste on the side. If the fermented shrimp paste is too strong in smell and flavor for you, you can have it with fish sauce. This place Bun Dau Co Tuyen is recommended by some of my local friends. It is right near Sword Lake.

Banh Tom Ho Tay, Prawn Cake at West Lake, located at West Lake is a popular restaurant for locals due to its location and beautiful lake view. This dish is a deep-fried prawn with sweet potato served with rice vermicelli, salad, and sweet and sour sauce. The restaurant has many other dishes on the menu too.

HANOI BEST WALKING FOOD TOUR, VIETNAM????????

Our shared love for Vietnamese cuisine naturally led us to one of Hanoi's best walking food tours.

We met up with our fantastic tour guide, Anne, as she welcomed us and led us through the bustling streets of Hanoi. We went from station to station as Anne taught us the history of each dish and what's involved in making them. Every bite was a differnt to the last, showcasing the diverse and delicious nature of Hanoian cuisine.

We tasted dishes ranging from our personal favorites like Phở to unique dried beef salad dishes. Each bite was a delicious adventure, and we finished our tour with one of Hanoi's most popular drinks, the egg coffee!
