The Biggest Market of Meat, Fish and More in Minsk, Belarus

Komarovsky Rynok ( Market ) is Minsk’s landmark.
It is the main food market of Belarus, bringing together under its roof the majority of Belarusian producers.
In this huge food market one will find a wide range of fresh meat and fish (grown by local fisheries), cheese, dairy products, vegetables and greenery, fruits and berries, honey.
Besides, fresh products are brought to Komarovka by farmers and private farmsteads.
The unique indoor pavilion of Komarovsky Rynok, built in 1980, is a specimen of architecture and urban planning

Abandoned Russian village where my father was born

The village of Egoshino is a typical Russian village in the center of the European part of Russia. Before the revolution, it was part of the Vyatka province. Until 1987, Vyatka Province was the second most populated province of the Russian Empire, second only to the Kiev Province.
After the revolution, the village of Egoshino became part of the newly formed region - the Mari ASSR (now the Republic of Mari El).

Life in the village of Egoshino, as in most of the surrounding villages, began to fade away even in Soviet times. Young people went to study in the cities and never returned. Among these young people was my father.

The collapse of the Soviet Union was fatal for all the surrounding villages. Collective farms began to die, and people began to move to larger settlements.

For the first time, my father showed me and my brother the place where he was born in 1998. At that time, people lived only in four houses, the rest of the houses were abandoned. At the end of the 90s, we were children and did not fully realize what had happened. My brother and I did not understand how my father and grandfather felt when they walked through the overgrown streets of the village between abandoned houses.

The second time we came to the village in 2009. At that time only one house remained inhabited, and the surrounding fields were already actively overgrown with forest.

In 2018, there was no one left in the village. All the houses are abandoned, and a forest appeared on the agricultural lands. We went into some houses and captured the latest testimonies of people's lives. Nature slowly but surely returns everything back.

During our trips, we also regularly visited the village of Bakhtino and holy water springs, as well as the village of Maskanur (rural administrative center). Now the process of depopulation has covered larger settlements. Now it is the turn of the rural administrative centers to return to nature everything that was taken from her earlier.

It's true, there is no lockdown here in Belarus: officially pandemic isn't really here - if you rent or have interest rate to pay to a bank, it all mostly stands (rent may be delayed in some cases). How's travel if one gets stuck and what's the likely development for the 14-day self-isolation?

Minsk in One day - Trip Belarus | Wanderer's Bag

When nearly all Belarusians fly from Vilnius or Riga, the two of us landed a great ticket for Sri Lanka..from MINSK! We hopped on an early morning train from Vilnius, equipped with transit visas for Belarus and in just 2,5h we were ready to explore Minsk. Politics aside, it is a super cozy and one of the cleanest cities I have been to and makes for a wonderful weekend city break. While if you ever FLY from or to Belarus, the airport is about an 1h ride - there are minibuses departing central bus station for a few bucks per person.

TIP: On our way back from Sri Lanka, at the Minsk airport they stamped my passport as visa upon arrival, with which I can only leave the country through Minsk's airport. I had a double entry transit visa, and the officer for some reason ignored it, but luckily noticed her mistake and stamped the visa, else I would have been turned around at the border - we were taking a bus back home to Vilnius.

WHAT IS LIFE LIKE IN UKRAINE? | Chernivtsi, Ukraine

Going to major cities in Ukraine doesn't always give you the full picture of how life is for the average person and what lies beneath the surface. I decided to go to a mid range city in Western Ukraine called Chernivtsi to get a more inside look and chat with the locals about their opinion on things. I was born in Ukraine myself, but moved to Canada at the age of 5 and would only go for a weeks to visit every couple of years. Even though I think I have more insight than most people about what life is like there, I still have a lot to learn and a lot of the country left to explore.

I hope you guys will find this video interesting and please let me know if you would like to see more of this style of content from me.

Why I Don't Like This Country ????????

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are few places that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of Brunei is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I was pushed to make this video.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.
