The Best BARCELONA Free Walking Tour! (Gothic Quarter, Barcelona Old Town, and El Born)

The best way to get to know a city is to wander around for the sights, the smells, and the interesting people you meet. The drawback to aimless wandering is that you have no idea what that beautiful building is called, why they decided to build a fountain there, and who the heck that statue is of. And that’s why we went on a Barcelona free walking tour.

Our intrepid guide Gustavo walked us through the Gothic Quarter, Barcelona Old Town, and El Born, pointing out all of the interesting buildings and explaining the history of Barcelona and Catalonia. The day of our tour was a public holiday and the streets were packed with people enjoying the beautiful weather and street musicians filling the air with song.

Our tour was through the company Guru Walk. You can check out their free tour options here:
Although tours are free, you are expected to pay what you feel is fair to your guide at the end. We each paid our guide EUR10, which seemed to be pretty standard, just to give you an idea.

After the tour, we went to the seaside to try one of the local foods our guide told us about, fideuà. Think paella but with noodles instead of rice. It is delicious. And very fishy, if you can believe that.

After lunch, we walked through the La Barceloneta neighborhood and ran into multiple raucous parades!

On Sunday morning, we got dressed up to go to Mass at La Sagrada Familia. We tried our best to get there by 9AM for the service, but the line was too long and we didn’t get in.

If you want to attend the Sunday service at Sagrada Familia we recommend arriving by 8am so you can get in line early. Luckily, there was a restaurant nearby where we could eat consolation churros and stare at the Sagrada Familia in the bright morning sun.

We love Barcelona and can’t wait to get back there!

Hi guys, welcome to aclaireytale welcome to a brand new city break in Barcelona, Spain!! I show you all the top tips, travel advice in this travel guide of 3 days in Barcelona!! Where to stay in Barcelona, what to do, where to eat. I hope you enjoy!

The reason for this trip is that Simon's family are on the 2 week transatlantic Disney cruise on the Disney Dream and it finishes at Barcelona! We will be meeting them there for this city break!

We start off at the airport. We fly with Ryainair from Liverpool John Lennon Airport into Barcelona. We fly home via Easyjet as the timings where much better for the long weekend as we didn't have to wake up crazy early either way!

We land in Barcelona and I show you how to get from Barcelona airport into Barcelona city centre by train. We purchase the Hola Barcelona travel cards and I give you more information about these. You get the R2 Nord Train straight into Barcelona. I show you where to pick up the Hola Barcelona card. The price includes transport in the city plus the airport trains.

We get to the centre of Barcelona and walk to our Hotel. We are staying at Room Mate Carla on Rue de Mallorca. It was such a wonderful hotel and I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Barcelona! I show you the room and its amenities.

We then head our for some Tapas at Tapas de Madre and then walk around a bit and get our bearings. We go to La Rambla and spot some of the main shops for shopping. I pick up the Barcelona Starbucks you are here mug and then the Hard Rock Cafe pin in the shape of Sagrada Familia! We go past the Gaudi building Casa Batllo.

The next morning we have Room Mate Carla breakfast and it was amazing!! We head out to the Sagrada Familia! I give you a bit of an in depth tour of the cathedral, I hope you enjoy! We use the app as a tour guide and learn so much! We do a tour up the Nativity Tower and let you know whether it is worth it.

We then meet up with Simon's family and I don't film as much from now on but I show you La Boqueria - a huge food market! It's one of the best markets! Very busy though! We picked up some food bits you've got to get in Barcelona! We had the meat cone (charcuterie cone) and the cheese cone. They were delicious! We showed you El Quim and the oyster bar. We went to a rooftop bar and you could see the Disney Dream!!! I show you the red mickey funnels! We walk to the Arc de Triomf no not the one in Paris!! I show you some bits from the Disney Dream! We walked to the end of La Rambla where the Christopher Columbus column is. We went to Barceloneta Beach to eat but I didn't film as we were with family.

The next day, we head to Gaudi's Park Guell. I show you how to get to Park Guell on the metro. I show you around Park Guell one of the most beautiful public parks. We grab some ice creams and the head to La Rambla del mar. I finish the vlog there.

I really hope you enjoyed coming along with us on this trip to Barcelona! Hope you find it helpful if you have a trip booked. Do let me know below if you have any questions!

4K Barcelona (Spain) Park Güell Walking Tour • May 2023

???????? Walking tour of Park Güell. It is located in the upper part of Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain) and was created by the famous Spanish architect Antonio Gaudí in 1900-1914. It is a combination of gardens and residential areas in the Art Nouveau style, made in the fashionable at that time urban concept of «The city-garden». However, this project did not have commercial success, so the unfinished object was sold to the Barcelona City Hall, which turned it into a city park - a place of pilgrimage for tourists from all over the world.
