I show you how to arrive at an Indian airport for the first time, how to get a SIM card, and how to avoid scammers and get to your hotel safely.

We start as I land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India. I landed at 2AM in the morning after a long 19-hour journey from my home of New Zealand. I've arrived at the Delhi International Airport countless times, same with Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
The first step after you exit the plane is to head to Immigration where they'll check you have the correct VISA. Some travellers to India can get a VISA on Arrival and others will need to get their VISA in advance from their country of residence. Then I go through Duty-Free Shopping, pick up my bags, then finally through Indian Customs.
After this, I show you how to get an Indian SIM card in India at the airport. Then I show you how to get to your hotel safely from the airport with Uber or the Pre-Paid Taxi Stand outside the airport.
While we travel throughout the New Delhi International Airport, I give you the history behind the famous name, Indira Gandhi, that the airport is named after.

The SCAM I Could Never Capture on Camera (and How to Avoid It!)
A beautiful girl approached me in the spice aisle of a supermarket while I was travelling in Pakistan and asked if I wanted to go back to her house. What would you do? I'll tell you what I did and why you should be wary of such propositions while travelling overseas.
There are two scams that can happen to you. These two scams I could never capture myself because they're too risky. They are the Black Widow scam and the Honey Trap. Both are similar where a target is seduced then robbed, extorted, or blackmailed.
While making friends overseas be sure to spend some time with them before going back to their houses. And always make sure you send your GPS location to someone while you're travelling overseas, especially when going anywhere with a stranger.
The black widow scams usually only happen to men. But both men and women have been caught up in honey traps.

Don't Buy FAKE WATER in India! ⛔
Unbelievably, counterfeit water is a thing you need to avoid while travelling in India! Bootleggers slightly modify a legitimate water brand to fool you and the store owners sell it because they earn more profit from this cheaper product.
Some of the fake brands include Bilseir, Bisferi, Bisllari, Beslare, Belsri, Brislei, Blissli, and many more.
The genuine brands are Bisleri (Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd), Aquafina (PepsiCo), and Kinley (The Coca-Cola Company).
I bought 3 fake bottles of mineral water on a 4-hour road trip from Haryana to my Wife's Mother's village in Rajasthan and I could not find a real bottle on that trip!
Water is water, and I have by mistake drunk this water before and it was fine, but when you're putting something into your body, are you going to trust counterfeiters or a reputable drink manufacturer?
To avoid contaminated water, please be double-check all bottles you buy. Or better yet, buy a reusable bottle and fill it up directly from a water filter at your hotel.
Nowadays, there are also drink bottles that include filters so you can fill up water from uncertain sources. But these bottles are hard to suck water through, and the filter is so large that you get less water in your bottle.

Confronting an Indian SCAMMER (How to Buy REAL Cashmere)
I got sick of seeing people being scammed by scammers selling fake cashmere and pashminas in India so I went and got scammed to show you how to avoid it and how you can buy real cashmere! Then watch the scammer lie through his teeth that what he's selling is 100% pure cashmere from Keralan monkeys - unbelievable.
Cashmere or Kashmir is the most luxurious wool in the world. It's produced in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India, hence the name. It comes from the neck region of cashmere goats who only shed once a year. It's known for being extremely thin yet warm. It's the most expensive type of wool in the world. But most small stores selling garments and handicrafts will sell you cheap silk or viscose at insane prices. They'll lie to you and tell you it's 100% pure cashmere or pashmina.
There are a few ways you can tell real cashmere. Firstly it looks like animal hair and not perfectly produced strands of wool. It's super light and warm compared to the fake products. And it always has a matt finish, it's never shiny like silk. Sometimes it is mixed with silk, but the label will tell you that if it's a cashmere silk blend.
At the end of the video, I go to confront the scammer and show you how to get a refund in India! It's no easy feat! They HATE giving refunds.

Avoid These Guys When BUYING GOLD in Dubai (Fake ???? Scam)
The fake gold scam is famous in Dubai's Gold Souk where salesmen on the street approach you and take you into the alleyways to buy counterfeit gold. In the store, they show you real gold, but while they package it they swap it with either fake gold or a gold-plated product. When you get home you realise you've been scammed.
It's very difficult to test the purity of gold yourself. The best way to test at least if what you've been sold is of karat quality is by using a strong magnet. Karat quality gold will not be picked up by a magnet!
This test, like others, is not fool-proof! Shop at reputable stores with good reviews. If you're unsure, take your purchase to another jeweller and have them appraise it for you. Keep all your receipts, it's illegal to sell counterfeit gold. Go straight to the Dubai Police if you find you've been sold fake gold.
Hallmarks on gold items are quite useless too. They're inscriptions on the gold itself that show the purity. They can easily be faked.

■ INDIA, VARANASI: When I think of India I think of Varanasi. My expectations were thus high for my first ever visit. I knew I had to swim in the river or my visit would simply not be complete.
But other than a holy river Ganges swim my plans were open ended. A historic hotel would be the icing on the cake I thought so I opted for renting the most expensive hotel room I've ever seen in India.
After checking in I went exploring the mean streets of Varanasi to see if this ancient Indian city lived up to expectations....

Dubai is full of scammers targeting tourists! Don't believe all the professional beggars you'll meet on the streets there. I bump into one in Bur Dubai and show you his exact script, then explain the difference between professional beggars and corner beggars run by gangs.
Beggars are sent to Dubai en masse just before Ramadam every year to pray on Muslims' goodwill during this time. Col Mohammad Akeel says, “Most of the beggars were visitors. They come down during Ramadan for easy money as they know people here are helpful and sympathetic. We have a team of officers to crack down on beggars at residential areas and near mosques. (Gulf News)
Bur Dubai is by far the worst place to experience scams in Dubai. You'll find beggars, magic potion sellers, counterfeit goods sellers, fake gold scammers, massage parlours galore, and more all at Meena Bazaar.
I reported this man to the Dubai Police afterwards. Report beggars by calling Dubai Police on 901 or Al Ameen Service on 800 4888. Report online via or Police Eye in the Dubai Police app.
Only donate to registered charities in Dubai. Charities are regulated in UAE so you can have faith your money is going to good use.

When I asked viewers for recommendations on my recent drive back from Mangalore, a few recommended that I visit Shenoy Restaurant in Guruvayanakere. Open since 1932, this modest eatery is run by the very hospitable Shenoy family who dish out a range of vegetarian delicacies breakfast through lunch and evening snacks. The food is the sort that’s homely, wholesome making use of produce in season. On this visit, I sampled a few of their snacks including the best biscoot rotti I have ever eaten. The flavours were the sort that hit home, also compelling me to make note to return here for a more substantial meal.
This is definitely one of those hidden spots that needs to be on every travellers list when driving towards Mangalore on the Charmady route. Hope you enjoy this episode. Take care; stay safe and strong. Happy eating!
