Vienna 4K - Austria Capital - Driving Downtown

Weekday afternoon drive around the center of Vienna Austria on my recent visit. A global European city similar to London and Paris. Don't leave Vienna off your list when traveling through Europe!
Starting Point: .
Vienna, Austria’s capital, lies in the country’s east on the Danube River. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. In the Museums Quartier district, historic and contemporary buildings display works by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and other artists. ― Google

Vienna (Wien) is the capital, largest city, and one of nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's most populous city, with about two million inhabitants (2.9 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of the country's population), and its cultural, economic, and political center. It is the 6th-largest city proper by population in the European Union and the largest of all cities on Danube river.

Today, it is the second-largest German-speaking city after Berlin. Vienna is host to many major international organizations, including the United Nations, OPEC and the OSCE. The city is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. These regions work together in a European Centrope border region. Along with nearby Bratislava, Vienna forms a metropolitan region with 3 million inhabitants. In 2001, the city center was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, Vienna is known as the City of Music due to its musical legacy, as many famous classical musicians such as Beethoven and Mozart called Vienna home. Vienna is also said to be the City of Dreams because it was home to the world's first psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud. Vienna's ancestral roots lie in early Celtic and Roman settlements that transformed into a Medieval and Baroque city. It is well known for having played a pivotal role as a leading European music center, from the age of Viennese Classicism through the early part of the 20th century. The historic center of Vienna is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque palaces and gardens, and the late-19th-century Ringstraße lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks.

Vienna is known for its high quality of life. In a 2005 study of 127 world cities, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked the city first (in a tie with Vancouver and San Francisco) for the world's most livable cities. Between 2011 and 2015, Vienna was ranked second, behind Melbourne. Monocle's 2015 Quality of Life Survey ranked Vienna second on a list of the top 25 cities in the world to make a base within. Monocle's 2012 Quality of Life Survey ranked Vienna fourth on a list of the top 25 cities in the world to make a base within (up from sixth in 2011 and eighth in 2010). The UN-Habitat classified Vienna as the most prosperous city in the world in 2012–2013. The city was ranked 1st globally for its culture of innovation in 2007 and 2008, and sixth globally (out of 256 cities) in the 2014 Innovation Cities Index, which analyzed 162 indicators in covering three areas: culture, infrastructure, and markets. Vienna regularly hosts urban planning conferences and is often used as a case study by urban planners. Between 2005 and 2010, Vienna was the world's number-one destination for international congresses and conventions. It attracts over 6.8 million tourists a year.

~ Even the most brief of experiences, can change your life. No way of travel is right or wrong, it's all how you imagine and experience it for yourself. So forego what others might have to say, disparaging where you want to travel, what you want to do there or how long you want to spend in a place, it's your decision as to how much you will make the most of your time there, no one elses. Remember that. Your experience is sacred and unique, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. ~

*Kindly note that all comments are held for review and are filtered by my assistants. If you choose to post something hateful (either to me, or someone in the comment section), know that not only will it will never cross my line of sight, but your comment will not be published and you will be blocked and reported. As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety, and the thousands of others who might be watching, I do not tolerate any hate speech or degrading constructive criticism, and I can not bear to read it (about myself or others), thus, I will only read and respond to the positive comments that have been filtered through by my team. Just looking out for myself, my brothers and sisters of the world. Thank you for your understanding.*

Great European Road Trip - Part 1: Czech Republic, Germany & Austria

Great European Road Trip - Part 1: Czech Republic, Germany & Austria
Few trips are on more travellers bucket lists than a European road trip, and with good reason! Getting lost in the tiny towns and through the stunning nature of these amazing countries is the experience of a lifetime!

Great European Road Trip: The Plan!
Half the fun of going on a European road trip is planning one and we spent months and months staring at huge maps of Europe trying to plot our perfect route through the most beautiful countries, cities and nature we could find. The only problem, as you’ll soon find out, is that there is simply way too much to see and never enough time to see it all, so you’ve got to plan smart.

We’re huge road trip fans, so when it came to planning our Great European Road Trip we had a handful of countries that we knew no European road trip was complete without, including Germany, Austria and Italy - but we also wanted to add some new ones we’d never been to.

We’ve always loved Prague but always found ourselves walking around the same parts of the old city every time we visited and never getting out to explore the rest of the country. No road trip is complete without a car, and so Prague became our starting point and the spot where we launched off after picking up our trusty car, which Anne named Roger, and heading all through the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia - a journey through six countries, over twenty-three days and over 3,100km.

Great European Road Trip: The Rental Car!
Anne and I have been lucky to travel to over 40 countries together in the last five years, but until last June when we did our “Great American Road Trip” we hadn’t ever done a proper road trip together, and sadly just stayed close in to the city center areas or spent a day on a tour without getting out into the countryside to explore more.

Picking the right rental car is key, because if you travel like we do you’ll pretty much live in it. We’ve been Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members for years now and the perks of the membership simply make it a no brainer. Not only do we get the pick any car we want, but you can get access to the Hertz Connect device with wifi, phone calls and city guides as well as adding a second driver for free and earning Emirates Skywards Miles.

As with any traveling, it is the small things, perks, extras and benefits which add up to make all the difference, and this is one of them.

Anne picked a beautiful rust colored SUV, named him Roger and off we went to start our 23-day adventure!

Great European Road Trip: Czech Republic
Heading out of Prague was simple enough with our navigation and we knew what our first stop would end up being: to get a cooler! A quick stop at the local Czech shopping mall and Lidl, and we were packed with groceries, a full cooler and were heading north to czech out (see what I did there) the Sedlec Ossuari, a literal church made of bones.

According to history, so many people wanted to be buried on this site that starting in the 15th Century they ran out of space in the cemetery and simply started to use the human skeletal bones to build the church - which now contains the remains of between 40,000-70,000 individuals. Nice start to a romantic European road trip, huh?

If you have followed us for awhile you’ll know we rarely plan anything out at all, even where we’re staying at night. Anne managed to find the most random place we’ve ever slept tucked deep in the Czech countryside where a woman had renovated a horse trailer on her farm and listed it on AirBnb for $18/night - sold!

After a peaceful and quiet night we awoke to horses, goats, sheep, cats and one judgemental llama. Quick stop in the eco toilet and a breakfast from our cooler we were off to visit the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, a beautiful forest which is ironically on the border with Germany and the Czech Republic, nowhere near Switzerland.

Operation “Less Fat Jeff” was in full effect as we set off on the first hike of our Great European Road Trip through a stunning forest - the actual filming location for Narnia - and made our way up to the top to the largest sandstone arch in Europe, which isn’t as impressive as the hike itself, but well worth doing the hike.

Great European Road Trip: The Cooler & The Backpack!
Now, if you’ve followed us on our travels for very long you’ll know were hobo travellers and don’t much care to be fancy or spend a lot of money, so we always buy as much food as we can at any market or grocery store and pack...

FIRST CLASS OVERNIGHT TRAIN TRAVEL | AUSTRIA TO ROMANIAN EUROPEAN SLEEPER CABIN| Immy and Tani #Firstclasstrain #overnighttrain #traintravelvlog #europeanfirstclass #sleepercabin #immyandtani #travelvlog

Hello! Do you enjoy travel day videos? LET US KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW AND DO GIVE THIS VIDEO A LIKE!
Today we will be taking you guys along with us on an INSANE 4 COUNTRY 24+ hour travel day. We started our journey at the High Tetras mountains in Slovakia. We drove from the high Tetras to Bratislava in our rental car which we returned back to SIXT CAR RENTAL at Bratislava Airport. We then had to catch a cab to the train station from where we caught out first train (not shown). We caught a train from Bratislava to Vienna (Austria) which was roughly 1 hour.

From Vienna (Austria) - Wien Hauptbahnhof Central station, we picked up our first ultimate luxury train tickets as mentioned below:
RAILJET XPRESS #63
Vienna Hbf - Budapest -keleti Pu
First class $125 AUD pp (kids free- food not inc)
This journey was around 3 hours long. We arrived at Budapest (Hungary) train station around 16:30. We had less than 30 minutes to grab our overnight train tickets and rush to our next sleeper train.

The overnight train we caught was the Budapest-Keleti - Bucresti Nord Romanian Railway #473 . This sleeper cabin cost us $140 AUD pp but food was also not included. This train is roughly 15 hours and stops at the Hungary/Romania border for one hour for customs. Usually with overnight trains food is included but it wasn't on this train. We would advise you buy your own food and take it onboard! Tea and coffee is usually available at the dining car but we had our own food so didn't end up going there.

Hope you all enjoyed our intense travel day as much as we did! Let us know in the comments section of which train, plane or boat (or other) transport system we should explore.

Vienna Video Guide ???????? Austria Capital City Tourist Guide

In 1440 Vienna became the resident city of the Habsburg dynasty. It eventually grew to become the de facto capital of the Holy Roman Empire (800–1806) in 1437 and a cultural centre for arts and science, music and fine cuisine. Hungary occupied the city between 1485 and 1490.

In the 16th and 17th centuries Christian forces stopped Ottoman armies twice outside Vienna (see Siege of Vienna, 1529 and Battle of Vienna, 1683). A plague epidemic ravaged Vienna in 1679, killing nearly a third of its population.

4K City Walks: Vienna Austria - Ring Road to Old Center - Virtual Walk Treadmill City Guide & Tour

We've moved on to Vienna, or Wien, and it's truly the city of Mozart. In 4K City Walks: Vienna Austria - Ring Road to Old Center - Virtual Walk Treadmill City Guide & Tour, TravelingMel takes you from the Josef Strauss Park near the Thaliastrasse Ubahn stop in to the Burggarten behind the Hofburg Palace on Burgring strasse. Vienna is such a beautiful city. The architecture is similar to Budapest which makes sense but much cleaner and with more trees. It was a sunny winter day in the capital of Austria which sits on the Danube river. It's a fine city with many famous museums and hotels and restaurants. There are many activities for families and others to take advantage of in the largest city in Austria. The wind comes down from the Alps which makes things much colder. It's easy to get around Vienna in the metro or ride shares.

Wikipedia:
Vienna is the national capital, largest city, and one of nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's most populous city, with about 1.9 million inhabitants (2.6 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of the country's population), and its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 6th-largest city by population within city limits in the European Union.

Until the beginning of the 20th century, it was the largest German-speaking city in the world, and before the splitting of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in World War I, the city had 2 million inhabitants. Today, it is the second-largest German-speaking city after Berlin. Vienna is host to many major international organizations, including the United Nations, OPEC, and the OSCE. In July 2017 it was moved to the list of World Heritage in Danger.

Austria is one of the most exciting place I have visited and Austrian Alps are just as much adventure as relaxation. The Austrian Alps have a variety of adventures that will keep you occupied during summer and winter.I have visited a few different destinations in the Austrian Alps and I loved all of them. Distances in Austria aren’t particularly long so you can drive around the country.Wherever you choose to start from you , will be sure to have a great trip. The central Austrian Alps from the eastern part of the Alpine divide, its central chain of mountains , as well as those ranges that extend or accompany it to the north and south. The highest mountain in the Austrian Central Alps is Grossglockner at 3787 metres (12461 ft.)
