Australia - The Blue Mountains - Three Sisters & Scenic World

For our last full day in Australia we decided to head somewhere special while on the way to Sydney from Canberra.... The Blue Mountains. We firstly made our way to Katoomba and then to Scenic World, we took the Steepest Railway in the world down to the valley floor and walked the longest elevated Boardwalk in Australia. We then took the Largest Cable car in Australia back to the top and then Australia's highest cable car over to see the Three Sisters. After that we made our way to Wentworth Falls where we got breathtaking views as the sun went down.... My favourite day of the trip? It's a close one.

Scenic World BLUE MOUNTAINS Australia | Scenic Railway, Skyway, Cableway & Scenic Walkway

Scenic World is located in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia, about 100 kilometres west of Sydney. Scenic World is home to four attractions, the Scenic Railway, the Scenic Skyway, the Scenic Cableway and Scenic Walkway a 2.4 km elevated boardwalk through ancient rainforest.

The Scenic Railway is an incline railway now used for tourism. The steepest section of track is on an incline of 52 degrees (128% gradient) contained within a total distance of 310 metres (1,020 ft). It was originally constructed for a coal and oil shale mining operation in the Jamison Valley in the 1880s, in order to haul the coal and shale from the valley floor up to the escarpment above. From 1928 to 1945, it carried coal during the week and passengers at weekends. The coal mine was closed in 1945 after which it remained as a tourist attraction. The Scenic Railway makes many claims to be the steepest passenger railway, the steepest funicular and the steepest incline in the world. However the railway uses a winch system and no counterbalancing carriage, therefore it is an inclined lift rather than a funicular.

Built in 1958, the Scenic Skyway is another cable-driven conveyance at Scenic World. It travels across the gorge above the Katoomba Falls, 270 metres (886 feet) above the valley floor. The original Scenic Skyway was withdrawn on 4 April 2004 after 587,401 crossings and now sits in the picnic area at Scenic World. It was replaced by a new cabin in December of the same year. The new Skyway features a 72-person cabin with sections of liquid crystal glass that turns a raised section of the floor transparent as the ride progresses. In November 2005, a second station on the opposite cliff-face opened, allowing Skyway passengers to disembark and follow bush walking trails to the nearby Echo Point. In November 2017, the latest Scenic Skyway cabin was launched. This Skyway cabin is 30% bigger than its predecessor, offering visitors a more spacious ride with easier boarding, as well as free Wi-Fi.

In 2000, Scenic World installed the Sceniscender, now called Scenic Cableway, 84-passenger cable car from Doppelmayr that passes over a 25-metre-high (82 ft) tower on the edge of the cliff, and then 510 metres (1,673 feet) to the Bottom Station in the Jamison Valley 200 m (656 ft) below. The Cableway had a replacement of its cabin in 2018.

Blue Mountains Australia Vlog (It's Crazy!) | Sydney 3 of 3

One of the BEST things we've ever done! We're in the Blue Mountains Australia, just outside of Sydney, checking out the Three Sisters and Scenic World - you won't believe... Get Surfshark VPN at — Enter promo code DANDS for 85% off and 3 extra months for FREE!... ⬇ More Below ⬇

Welcome back to our final Sydney episode and our last time in Australia for a while. In this vlog we're in the Blue Mountains checking out the Three Sisters and heading into Scenic World - it's EPIC!

The Blue Mountains National Park is a World Heritage area about 90 min drive west of Sydney out to Katoomba. The Blue Mountains get their name from the natural blue haze created by surrounding eucalypt forests and the area is famous for its natural attractions: rugged sandstone tablelands, dramatic peaks and valleys, waterfalls, rainforests, lookouts and canyons. The National Park spans across 267,954 hectares of land with over 140 kilometres of walking trails.

The highlight of the area is known to be the Three Sisters, but the REAL highlight is Scenic World! Scenic World has all the same epic views with the bonus of some world class attractions — like the world's steepest railway and the 2.4 kilometre walkway, the longest boardwalk in the Southern Hemisphere. But the real winner is the Scenic Skyway!

We actually did the upgraded Beyond Skyway experience, it's the same 270 metre cable across the Jamison Valley with the glass bottom, but you get to climb up onto the roof as well! As Stace said, this was one of the best experiences we've ever done. Check out Scenic World here —

Don't forget to pick up Surfshark VPN here — and enter the promo code DANDS for 85% off and 3 extra months for FREE!

In this video, we spend an entire day at the Blue Mountains here in Sydney Australia.

Getting there:
Getting to the Blue Mountains from Sydney is easy by car, bus or train. The drive from Sydney to Katoomba is just 90 minutes. Alternatively, if you prefer the train, they regularly depart from Central Station, and you get off at Katoomba station and get a bus to Echo Point Lookout, Scenic world and back
TIP: If you're taking the train, visit on a Sunday because the Opal card caps fares at $2.80 for the entire day!

I would suggest heading to Scenic World first, as their rides are open only from 9AM - 5PM (with the last rides going at 4:50PM). The rides are sold together as a part of a discovery package, and you get unlimited access to the below rides for the entire day. Head to Leura, a suburb in the Blue Mountains for a quick bite to eat; we went to Lily Pad cafe (address: 19 Grose St, Leura) but i've also heard good things about Leura Garage (Address:84 Railway Parade, Leura ) so check that place out and let me know what you think!

After all that, i'd head on to Echo Point, where you can take really awesome pictures of the Three Sisters. Depending on how much time you have left, why not give one of their walks a go, but if you are strapped for time, head to the Three Sisters & Honeymoon Bridge. it's about a 20 minute walk from Echo Point (there are very steep steps though) and you get really close to the Three Sisters!

Scenic World rides: Entire package is $49 AUD (for adults)
1. Scenic Skyway - Walk on air on the Scenic Skyway's glass floor as you glide between cliff tops above the Jamison Valley. At 270 metres, it is the highest cable care in Australia

2. Scenic Railway - At a 52 degree incline, the Scenic Railway is the stepest passenger train in the world.

3. Scenic Cableway - Carrying 84 people, the Scenic Cableway is Australia's biggest cable car. Descend the 545 metres into the Jamison Valley or return back up to the top of the escarpment

4. Scenic Walkway - Spend ten minutes or a full hour strolling among ancient,m temperate rain forest. With a selection of walks totaling 2.4kms, the Walkway is the longest elevated boardwalk in Australia.

This is a very long description - but if you are reading THIS, damn - let me know in the comments and say but are the mountains blue?

Beyond Skyway at Scenic World

Enjoy the sunset atop the iconic Skyway cable car. It's like nothing else on earth.

[4k] Katoomba attractions | Three Sisters | Scenic World | Blue Mountains attractions

Katoomba is the most visited town in the Blue Mountains. It wasn’t until 1879 that the town of Katoomba became known when J.B. North opened the Katoomba Coal Mine. Coal was obtained from the side of the mountain near Orphan Rock using a cable car to bring the coal to the top. The now famous Scenic Railway operates in the original cutting in the mountain side.
