With the CMA Export Manager Flavio Urizzi’s interview, the Astoria project comes to life and gains meaning:

#TheCoffeeRoad.

A project with China in its sights, aiming at consolidating an already strong tie that has for over two decades been linking this Italian company, leader in the manufacture of quality professional espresso coffee machines, to one of the most fascinating and certainly most powerful countries in Asia.

It was in fact in the mid-Nineties that Astoria became one of the first companies in the coffee machine sector to propose its products to China: since then, not only did the Chinese economy became stronger and increasingly flourishing, but a transformation was also experienced in the tastes of the Chinese themselves.

Attracted by western lifestyles, their tastes began to change, with coffee starting to be preferred to tea, the classical and traditional oriental beverage.

The economic growth of the former Celestial Empire has therefore gone hand-in-hand with that of Astoria on the Chinese market. And now, for the second consecutive year, by sponsoring the finals for the World Latte Art Championship and “World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship being programmed in Shanghai within the “Hotelex” venue, from March 29 to April 1, 2016, a whole series of new challenges have presented themselves.

Un progetto che guarda alla Cina e mira a consolidare il legame già profondo che unisce, da oltre un ventennio, l’azienda italiana leader nella produzione di macchine professionali di qualità per caffè espresso ad uno degli stati più affascinanti e sicuramente il più potente dell'Asia.

A metà degli anni '90, infatti, Astoria fu tra le prime aziende nel settore delle macchine per caffè a proporre i suoi prodotti in Cina e da allora, non solo l’economia cinese è diventata sempre più forte e fiorente, ma si sono trasformati anche i gusti della popolazione che, attratta dallo stile di vita occidentale, ha iniziato a preferire il caffè al tè, classica bevanda della tradizione orientale.

La crescita economica dell'ex Impero Celeste, quindi, è andata di pari passo con quella di Astoria sul mercato cinese. E adesso, la sponsorizzazione, per il secondo anno consecutivo, delle finali World Latte Art
Championship e World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship in programma a Shangai all’interno di Hotelex dal 29 marzo al 1 aprile 2016, apre la strada a nuove sfide.

#TheCoffeeRoad: Astoria pays tribute to China through illustration

The scene is set: the World Latte Art Championship and the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship at the Hotelex Shanghai international trade fair taking place from 29th March to 1st April 2016. Centre stage – and ready to shine – are 12 coffee machines personalised with 12 different illustrations dedicated to the history and culture of China.

Just as true espresso champions turn to art as a limitless source of inspiration for their own creations, Astoria has chosen to pay tribute to the fascinating region of East Asia by personalising the livery of the Plus4Champions – the official coffee machine of these two important World Coffee Events – with original designs.

The result is a moving journey through past and present to discover the symbols and landmarks which are most evocative of China, starting with Marco Polo, the first European to give a detailed account of his experiences of the Orient and his travels on the famous Silk Road. Amongst the cast of the 12 artworks are some essential players: the legendary Terracotta Army, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China and the Oriental Pearl Tower.

#TheCoffeeRoad: Astoria rende omaggio alla Cina attraverso l’illustrazione


Sul palco del World Latte Art Championship e World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship in programma a Shanghai dal 29 marzo al 1 aprile nell’ambito di Hotelex 2016, brilleranno 12 macchine da caffè personalizzate con 12 diverse illustrazioni dedicate alla storia e alla cultura cinese.

Così come i veri fuoriclasse dell’espresso trovano nell’arte una inesauribile fonte di ispirazione per le loro creazioni, Astoria ha voluto rendere omaggio all’affascinante stato dell'Asia orientale personalizzando con grafiche d’autore la livrea della Plus4Champions, macchina ufficiale dei due importanti eventi targati World Coffee Events.

I soggetti protagonisti dei 12 artworks sono: Marco Polo (il primo europeo a lasciare una cronaca dettagliata dei suoi viaggi in Cina lungo la famosa Via della Seta), l’Esercito di Terracotta (la collezione di statue in terracotta raffiguranti l’esercito di Qin Shi Huang, il primo imperatore cinese), la Provincia dello Yunnan (l’area di produzione di caffè più grande della Cina), l’Oriental Pearl Tower (la nota torre televisiva di Shanghai), la Provincia di Guilin (una delle mete più suggestive della Cina), Bruce Lee (esperto di arti marziali di Hong Kong e vera e propria icona pop del 20esimo secolo), l’Opera del Sichuan (una delle maggiori scuole d’opera della Cina), il Panda Gigante (animale simbolo della Cina, tra i più adorati e a rischio estinzione del mondo), La Grande Muraglia Cinese (straordinaria opera d’ingegneria), la
Città Proibita (il palazzo imperiale meglio conservato in Cina e Patrimonio Unesco), il Drago Cinese (creature leggendarie della mitologia e del folklore cinese) e il San Xing (personificazione delle tre divinità della mitologia cinese).

ASTORIA MACCHINE PER CAFFÈ REVEALS ITS NEW LOGO

FORWARD THINKING COMBINES INNOVATION AND CHANGE WITH RESPECT FOR ASTORIA TRADITION

Astoria Macchine per Caffè is set to update its image and launch a new logo in a strategic move that reflects the company’s growth and its vision of the future. These aspects, together with the company’s willingness to experiment and try out new ideas, confirm its position as one of the leading brands in the international coffee business.

Continuity and the company’s longstanding manufacturing heritage are represented by the traditional Astoria red and the retention of the original “A” with its distinctive flourish, which has been part of the company’s history since its creation in 1969. The flourish has been elongated and streamlined to make it softer and more sinuous. The lettering of the rest of the logo, meanwhile, has been completely updated to give a look that is dynamic, incisive and modern and that truly conveys the identity of a company that is launching itself wholeheartedly towards tomorrow.

In addition to the new logo, the company has also introduced a new distinguishing feature, a company emblem. The emblem encapsulates the entire history of the brand. In it, the “A” of Astoria, unique, unmistakable and iconic, forms the distinctive symbol of the company, preserving its heritage and at the same time leading the company towards new goals.

“Our new logo and emblem represent our desire to constantly improve and aim for excellence through an evolving journey rich in new ideas and sources of inspiration that come from all around us – from the experience we have gained through almost 50 years in business and from our ability to work and share our values with people who bring so much passion and skill to our business to create wonderful coffee machines,” emphasises Astoria’s President, Federico Gallia.

Astoria at Cheese 2017 as Slow Food Strategic Partner!

Cheese 2017 is another event during that let the strategic partnership between Astoria and Slow Food carry on with a common vision of excellence that aims to restore the right value to coffee culture.

From 15 to 18 September 2017, the Astoria Coffee Truck functioned as Slow Food Cafeteria, offering visitors the experience of excellent espresso coffee with the top of the Plus 4 You TS.

Astoria’s Slow Espresso Experience was also be the focus at Caffè Letterario of Palazzo Garrone, that in the afternoon, turned into a lounge area with musical accompaniment, where another Plus 4 You TS served coffee.
