The slow descent to the ocean floor reveals a changing kaleidoscope of colors and movement as tropical fish weave through their underwater environment. A huge school of anchovies swiftly changes direction in a slick, silvery line as a large barracuda makes its entrance, while yellow grunts and sturgeon fish swim unconcerned nearby. Closer near the seabed, thousands of tiny coral colonies wind and twist over every surface creating a textured array of impressively large examples of boulder coral, brain coral and pillar coral. The seeming tranquility of the environment is heightened by the waving sea fans and purple soft coral slowly undulating with the tide. A sudden movement catches the eye as a hawksbill turtle emerges from the sea grass and glides sedately out of view. The wonders of Aruba's underwater environment are accessible even to non-swimmers with Aruba's options of submarine, semi-submarine and sea trek adventures. The remains of shipwrecks, spectacular coral reefs and an abundance of colorful sea life comes into even sharper view with the aid of a fully narrated tour.

Atlantis Submarine - Aruba Excursion
A quick overview of our excursion on the Atlantis Submarine in Aruba. We booked the excursion through Carnival at a cost of $99.99 per adult and $79.99 per child. It was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed the experience.

Atlantis Submarines is a Canadian passenger submarine company. The company currently has 12 submarines and operates undersea tours in Grand Cayman, Barbados, Aruba, Guam, St. Thomas, Cozumel and in Hawaii at Kona, Maui and Oahu.
In order for passengers to reach the submarine they board a shuttle ferry, then they enter the submarine via steep stairs. When the submarine goes down they see corals, sunken ships, treasures, and fish through large viewports. When the submarine ride is finished the passengers are returned by the ferry to shore where they are given dive certificates. Some 12 million passengers have taken the Atlantis submarine tour to date.

DePalm Atlantis Submarine in Aruba offers an experience to those that want to see what is under the water in this amazing ocean. You go down 139' and will experience 2 shipwrecks...all while staying dry and from the comfort of looking out your very own window to the sea world. You take a boat ride out to meet the submarine, get on top and then climb down in and take your seat. Then let the diving begin. You pass 2 ship wrecks and go down to 130' and stop on the ocean floor. However, we went to 139 feet!!!

Aruba is an island- country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the southern Caribbean Sea, located about 1,000 km west of the main part of the Lesser Antilles and 29 km north of the coast of Venezuela. It measures 32 km long from its northwestern to its southeastern end and 10 km across at its widest point. Together with Bonaire and Curaçao, Aruba forms a group referred to as the ABC islands. Aruba and the other Dutch islands in the Caribbean are often called the Dutch Caribbean.
This flat island with no rivers is renowned for its white sand beaches and tropical climate moderated by constant trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean. The temperature is almost constant at about 27°C (81°F) and the yearly rainfall usually does not exceed 20”. Aruba lies outside the Caribbean hurricane belt. This beautiful island offers many activities and attractions for people of all ages.Aruba is divided into the northeast and southwest coasts. The southwest has the white sand beaches, turquoise seas, and warm waters. The northeast coast, exposed to the Atlantic, has a few white sand beaches, cacti, rough seas with treacherous currents, and a rocky coastline,
Discovered and claimed for Spain in 1499, Aruba was acquired by the Dutch in 1636. In 1986, Aruba seceded from the Netherlands Antilles and became a separate, autonomous member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Movement toward full independence was halted at Aruba's request in 1990. The island's economy has traditionally been dominated by three main industries. A 19th century gold rush was followed by prosperity brought on by the opening in 1924 of an oil refinery. The last decades of the 20th century saw a boom in the tourism industry. Aruba of today has become more and more popular, many reputable travel sites rating Aruba's beaches in the top 10 of the world constantly and the best cruising ports of the Caribbean.
