Bangabandhu Safari Park 2016 (বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব সাফারী পার্ক)
Bangabandhu Safari Park also known as Dhaka Safari Park is a safari park in Bangladesh, considered as one of the best Bangladeshi Safari Park. It was inaugurated on 2013. Bongobondhu Safari Park in Gazipur has many natural beasts, birds and animals including, tiger, lion, zebra, deer, butterfly, duck, kangaroo, gharial. Gazipur Safari Park represents the natural beauty of Bangladesh. It is full of Nature and life in Safari Park.
Safari Park Location: Sreepur Thana of Gazipur district. It is about a 2/3 hours’ drive from Dhaka city (based on traffic).
Transportation: If you are planning a family trip then the best choice is to hire a rent-a-car. It may cost you around 2500 to 3000 BDT for a round trip. An alternative is to take a bus to Gazipur. In this case you will have to get to the main road then take another vehicle (auto-rickshaw or taxi).
Time: Park is closed on Tuesday. The park is open from 9am-5pm for tourists except Tuesday.
Ticket price: Entry ticket- 50 BDT/ person
Parking – 60 BDT per car
Bus ride inside core safari- 100 BDT per person
Activities: The Park is divided into two parts: 1) core safari and 2) safari kingdom.
You will have to buy separate tickets for each amenity inside the park ranging from 20 – 100 BDT per person.
Core safari – Core safari begins at 11am in the morning. An air-conditioned mini bus takes the tourists inside the safari for a 20minute long ride. As the bus passes through the forest and captivities you will observe wild animals moving around in the open. You can see giraffes, zebras, deer, and bison. Then the bus moves into the carnivorous closures, and you will be excited to see tigers, lions, bears. If you are lucky you may even get to witness tiger sex or tiger mating. Tiger and Lion territories are the most famous and thrilling.
Safari kingdom- this part of the park has different birds including Macaw, parrots, hornbill, Peacocks and many other kind of birds. There is a small butterfly in closure, carp pond, fish aquarium, swan and duck pond and an alligator pond. There is a national history museum as well and a boat ride too.
গাজীপুর জেলার শ্রীপুর উপজেলাধীন মাওনা ইউনিয়নের বড় রাথুরা মৌজা ও সদর উপজেলার পীরুজালী ইউনিয়নের পীরুজালী মৌজার খন্ড খন্ড শাল বনের ৪৯০৯.০ একর বন ভূমি ছোট বড় বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির প্রাণির জন্য নিরাপদ আবাসস্থল হিসাবে পরিচিত। এর মধ্যে ৩৮১০.০ একর এলাকাকে সাফারী পার্কের মাস্টার প্ল্যানের আওতাভূক্ত করা হয়েছে। বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব সাফারী পার্ক শীর্ষক প্রকল্পটি ২০১০ সালে ৬৩.৯৯ কোটি টাকা প্রাক্কলিত ব্যয়ে একনেক কর্তৃক অনুমোদিত হয় এবং পার্ক প্রতিষ্ঠা কার্যক্রম শুরু হয় এবং ২০১১ সালের ২ ফেব্র“য়ারী বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব সাফারী পার্ক, গাজীপুর এর আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে নির্মাণ কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়। প্রকল্পের শুরুতে কোন মাষ্টার প্লান প্রণয়ন করা সম্ভব হয়নি। পরবর্তীতে দেশী-বিদেশী বিশেষজ্ঞদের সহায়তায় আন্তর্জাতিক মানের সাফারী পার্কে উন্নীত করার লক্ষ্যে একটি মাষ্টার প্লান তৈরী করা হয়। মাষ্টার প্লানে বর্ণিত কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়ন ও ভূমি অধিগ্রহনের জটিলতা নিরসনের লক্ষ্যে ৪ অক্টোবর ২০১১ তারিখে ’’বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব সাফারী পার্ক, গাজীপুর (১ম সংশোধিত) প্রকল্পটি একনেক কর্তৃক বর্ধিত আকারে ২১৯.৮৯ কোটি টাকা প্রাক্কলিত ব্যয়ে অনুমোদিত হয়।পরবর্তীতে অক্টোবর / ২০১৩ মাসে একনেক কর্তৃক ২৬৩.০০ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে ” বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখমুজিব সরকারী পার্ক , গাজীপূর (২য় সংশোধন) প্রকল্প পাশ হয় ।
সাফারী পার্কটি দক্ষিণ এশীয় মডেল বিশেষ করে থাইল্যান্ডের সাফারী ওয়ার্ল্ড এর সাথে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে স্থাপন করা হয়েছে। এছাড়াও ইন্দোনেশিয়ার বালি সাফারী পার্কের কতিপয় ধারনা সন্নিবেশিত করা হয়েছে। সাফারী পার্কের চারদিকে নির্মাণ করা হচ্ছে স্থায়ী ঘেরাা এবং উহার মধ্যে দেশী/বিদেশী বন্যপ্রাণীর বংশবৃদ্ধি ও অবাধ বিচরণের সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে যাতে পর্যটকগণ চলমান যানবাহনে অথবা পায়ে হেঁটে ভ্রমণ করে শিক্ষা, গবেষণা ও চিত্তবিনোদনের সুযোগ লাভ করবেন। সাফারী পার্কের ধারনা চিড়িয়াখানা হতে ভিন্নতর। চিড়িয়াখানায় জীবজন্তুসমূহ আবদ্ধ অবস্থায় থাকে এবং দর্শনার্থীগণ মুক্ত অবস্থায় থেকে জীবজন্তু পরিদর্শন করেন। কিন্তু সাফারী পার্কে বন্যপ্রাণীসমূহ উন্মুক্ত অবস্থায় বনজঙ্গলে বিচরণ করবে এবং মানুষ সতর্কতার সহিত চলমান যানবাহনে

বঙ্গবন্ধু সাফারি পার্ক || Bangabandhu Safari Park || Cox's Bazar || The Traveller
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park at Dulahazra, Cox'sbazar is the first Safari Park in Bangladesh. It is one of the reserves and conservation project to protect rare wildlife and bird populations, and one of the breathtaking Eco-tourism initiative in Bangladesh. It is well known as Dulahazra Safari Park.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park was developed on an undulating landscape of around 2,224 acres of area at Chakaria Upazila in Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh, some 107 km away from the port city Chattogram, with an objective to create facilities for Eco-tourism, research work and entertainment aside from conserving wild animals in a natural environment.
Between the years 2000 and 2001 the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park started its journey. The government began to play an active role in the development of the park in 2007, ensuring that illegally owned wildlife was seized and taken to the park, with many of the animals also being donated by their owners. This has allowed the park’s population to grow to nearly four thousand animals, providing visitors with 165 species to marvel at.
The variety of animals that have been seized and donated is astounding, with the park taking in saltwater crocodiles, barking deer, black bears, spotted deer, emus, pythons, freshwater crocodiles, pheasants and peacocks.
All the animals have been given large areas to roam freely, with lush forests and brush for their habitats. Some animals are kept at a distance from visitors for safety reasons. The Dhaka Zoo has also assisted in growing the number of wildlife in Dulahazra Safari Park through their breeding program, enabling visitors to view other wildlife such as lions, monkeys, parrots, giraffes, horses, tigers, lizards, elephants, zebras and frogs. Some of the elephants at the park are tame and visitors are able to interact with them.
Tourists can be driven through the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park by jeep to explore the extraordinary wildlife, and there is a specially constructed tower for tourists where they are able to look out over the park and view numerous animals. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park is really the ideal attraction for a family outing, as it is also a research center that focuses on conserving the environment as well as educating the public.

Such an exciting journey to move through the Sundarban forest in ship, To be honest animal visibility was low during this journey but i enjoyed lot of food on the ship together with freshness of the air.

We got our tickets done from West Bengal tourism, ticket cost summary below. We did the journey in AC section.
1 Night 2 Days Tour
AC Berth Rs 6,050/ person + GST
Non AC Berth Rs 4,730/ person +GST
All costs included in the above fare, like bus, food, guide, etc.
Journey starts from Kolkata and ends in Kolkata.
You may also want to do a 2 night and 3 day tour on ship, they have option for that as well.
If you are planning to travel with government you need to book in advance, plus journey dates are pre fixed.
In case Govt reservations are full for Sundarban Safari. Then you can take Private Boats too for Sundarban Safari.
The charges for Private Boats can be approx Rs. 6,000 to 7,000 per person.
They also offer full day tour too. I don’t have any details to share with you but these are estimates that i got from few people.
Note: According to Govt rules small boats are not allowed for tour purpose plus it is not safe also.
You can do booking of the trip in advance through the below website and also connect with tourism office over phone for more information in this regard.
West Bengal Tourism:
P.S: You can’t get down to the forest area and do any safari there like there is no jeep safari or Elephant safari. Only way you travel to Sundarbans is by ship or large size boat….
Note: If you can carry Binoculars along you will enjoy this journey more.
During April to Aug - West Bengal tourism does not operate ship tours to Sunderbans as it is hot and humid.

The State of West Bengal with a variety of forest types is very rich in terms of Wildlife. North Bengal flood plains harbor wild animals like Tiger, Common Leopard , Elephant, Rhino, Himalayan Black Bear, Sloth Bear,Gaur, Sambar, Barking Deer, Spotted Deer, Hog Deer, Wild Boar, Rhesus Monkey, Common Languor, different types of small Cats and Civets, Crocodile, Gharail, Jungle Fowls and a large number of Birds & Medicinal Plants.
Siliguri is second most populous city after Kolkata in West Bengal and is situated at the entrance of North Bengal (@8km from Park).The whole park concept is the brain child of Dr B R Sharma, the then Memner Secretary, WBZA & Sri U K Bhattacherjee, AO.North Bengal Wild Animals Park (Bengal Safari), Siliguri is spread in an area of 297 hectares. The Park is developed in its natural habitat of Sal & its associated species.
