Samrub For Thai: #ThaiFood #Bangkok #Thailand

What I love so much about eating at Samrub For Thai (สำรับสำหรับไทย), is that it’s a Thai food learning experience. I learn so much about ingredients, combinations, history, and taste. I believe Chef Prin is one of the most talented chefs of Thai food.

The private dining room of the extremely talented Chef Prin, known better as Samrub For Thai (สำรับสำหรับไทย) is for me one of the best Thai restaurants in the world. Having a foundation of Thai food, it’s just incredible to see how Chef Prin takes Thai cuisine to the next level, but actually brings back ancient Thai foods that have been buried and lost.

The menu at Samrub For Thai (สำรับสำหรับไทย) constantly changes, typically every month. And what’s incredible is that many of the ancient Thai recipes listed ingredients, but not amounts. And so it’s up to the cook to determine the balance and taste - and you need to have a seriously good tongue and knowledge of Thai food to determine the best ratios of ingredients.

Here’s the list of Thai dishes we ate during this meal:

Miang som (เมี่ยงส้ม), marian plum
Oysters snack (ขนมหอยนางรม)
Beef salad, tree basil (พล่าเนื้อสด)

Sour pomfret soup (ต้มส้มปลาเต๋าเต้ยน้ำส้มโหนด)
Crab coconut cream relish (หลนเจ่าปูม้า)
Roasted duck, langsat fruit, salad (ยำเป็ดย่างลองกอง)
Shrimp curry, young mangosteen (แกงตู้มี่)
Beef with holy basil (เนื้อผัดใบกะเพรา)

Sticky rice ice cream, mango, golden beans (ไอศรีมข้าวมะม่วงกับถั่วทอด)

It was an outstanding meal, almost unbelievable flavors, quality of ingredients, and just an amazingly fun time to hang out with friends and eat best Thai food.

Thai Food - 1.5 YEARS WAITING LIST! (Hardest Reservations in Thailand)

????Ultimate Bangkok Late-Night Street Food:
????Follow P’Tan ( and P’Tape (

????Banana Chips available now!!
????T-shirts:

Ruen Jarung (เรือนจรุง) also known as the Ayutthaya Real Chillin' House, is the hardest to book restaurant in Thailand, and has one of the longest waiting lists of any restaurants. Last year when they opened up bookings, they sold out for an entire year in 8 seconds. I had heard a lot about it, and I wasn’t just interested in trying the food, but seeing the location and atmosphere and finding out just why Ruen Jarung (เรือนจรุง) is in such high demand for Thais. #ThaiFood #Thailand #Food

Thanks to my friend P’Tan ( for inviting me to eat at Ruen Jarung (เรือนจรุง) for lunch one day, and since P’Tan had eaten there a few times, he chose a menu of only his favorite Thai food dishes that they serve - only the best dishes.

Ruen Jarung (เรือนจรุง) serves home-style Thai food, dishes people remember from childhood. Most of the dishes are pretty common, but some are more creative, and presented on big communal plates and platters so they really stand out. I found most of the Thai dishes to be delicious, well flavored and very comforting. Not many of the dishes were really stand out, but they were all just solidly good. Another reason I think so many people love Ruen Jarung (เรือนจรุง) for the atmosphere, communal food, and having a chance to spend time with friends and family. Also, it’s the type of restaurant that brings back great memories.

Here are all the Thai dishes we ordered, that I had a chance to try:

Shrimp paste chili dip (น้ำพริกกะปิ)
Stink beans with shrimp (กุ้งผัดสะตอ)
Sour curry bamboo shoots (แกงส้มหน่อไม้)
Winged bean salad (ยำถั่วพลู)
Roasted river shrimp (กุ้งเผา)
Dried fried pork (หมูแดดเดียว)
Dried fried beef (เนื้อแดดเดียว)
Beef soup (ต้มแซ่บเนื้อ)
Fried squid (หมึกทอด)
Bengal currant dessert (มะม่วงหาวมะนาวโห่)
Snail curry, climbing wattle (แกงคั่วหอยขม)
Fried pork belly (หมูกรอบ)
Congee (ข้าวต้มเรือโป๊ะ)

There were actually even a few more dishes, that I didn’t even have a chance to try, we had 26 different dishes.

Overall, I thought the food was fantastic, especially since P’Tan chose the best of the Thai dishes that they make. The atmosphere was great, but really the best part of eating at Ruen Jarung (เรือนจรุง) was hanging out with friends.

Total price came to about 2,000 Thai Baht ($65.17) per person

Thank you again to P’Tan ( for the invitation.

The 140-Year Old Thai Restaurant, and the Dishes They Served a King

Of all the historic restaurants in Bangkok, one must be the oldest. We set out to try to establish which place in the city has the longest history, and to our surprise, it's somewhere that we've been on the channel before; a restaurant along a canal near the Talad Phlu market that we visited while filming our second video ever.

So we went back to the restaurant to tell their story and record the history of the oldest restaurant in Bangkok, and to try the five dishes they've served continuously since the days before the roads were built and the city began to modernize. This is Tek Heng Jeen Lee, the home of crispy fried noodles (Mee Krob) favored by the legendary King Rama V, and a place with a wild history befitting the oldest restaurant in Bangkok.

SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI BANGKOK, THAILAND (Part 1)

We were invited to join some friends for an absolutely wonderful dinner at SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI located at 100 Mahaseth, 102, Maha Set Rd, Si Phraya, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500.

When you first walk by the front of the main restaurant you are lead to believe this is the place you will be eating but to get to Samrub Thai 's private kitchen / restaurant (สำรับสำหรับไทย) You must enter through the rear of the carport on the left side of the restaurant , up a few stairs which leads to a room with a full kitchen, a long bar that seats 10 and 1 table that seats roughly 6. It is run by Chef Prin who was formally the LEAD CHEF of Bangkok’s NAHM RESTAURANT. His expertise as a chef focuses on ancient family Thai recipes from a book dating back to King Rama 5. Most of his dishes have either been lost a long time ago or passed on from generation to generation and only enjoyed by a choice few. I was amazed at the synchronicity of the staff. It is a well oiled food preparation machine that is as enjoyable to watch as it is to eat. I say food preparation machine but the food is anything but mass produced. Each plate is handcrafted and designed with perfection!

From every ingested morsel that passes by your lips is at Samrub (สำรับสำหรับไทย) is gourmet PERFECTION! The environment sitting at the bar is interactive with Chef Prin, laidback and fun! Chef Prin will give you a history on each plate served. During the food preparation process you can see the care that goes into crafting each individual plate and also notice the care that was taken in selecting the choice ingredients that go into every savory morsel you place between your lips.

You can tell Chef Prin is a true FOODIE who loves people, preparing his amazing gourmet meals as well as eating and yes, adding a different twist to an old recipe to tweak it it to perfection. He takes pride in his every creation and it shows! Chef Prin's menu is constantly changing and reflects ingredients that are readily available during specific seasons in Thailand. Nothing during our meal was too spicy or could not be tolerated by those who are faint at heart about trying new things. I would TRUST anything that comes out of Chef Prin's Kitchen and would award hime extremely high marks and a must visit when in Bangkok.

Thai Food at Amphawa Floating Market - Thailand SEAFOOD FEAST Cooked on a Boat!

Mike and I are taking you on a Thai street food snacking tour of Amphawa Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำอัมพวา)!
►Check out Mike’s channel:
►Subscribe to my channel for more videos:

Amphawa Floating Market is one of the most well known Thai floating markets, located around 1.5 hours drive from Bangkok in a province called Samut Songkhram. So we first drove over to the market in the mid afternoon to get started snacking on some of the amazing Thai street food snacks available throughout the market.

Tod man pla (ทอดมันปลา) - 20 THB ($0.57) - We started by sampling some fried fish cakes. They were pretty good, both Mike and I both enjoyed it.

Khanom krok kai nok (ขนมครกไข่นก) - 20 THB ($0.57) - Another snack at the same stall was fried quail eggs. They are so pure and so delicious.

Khanom bansib (ขนมปั้นสิบ) - 100 THB ($2.87) - This is a common Thai street food snack at Amphawa Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำอัมพวา) and they have a few stalls serving it. It’s alright, a pasty wrapper filled with fish, but not my favorite.

Hoy shell yang cheese (หอยเซลล์ย่างชีส) - 150 THB for 6 ($4.31) - Mike and I both saw the scallops topped with a variety of seasoning and then finally some cheese, and we both mutually agreed that we didn’t want to miss it. It turned out to be extremely delicious.

Floating Market boat restaurants - There aren’t actually that many real boat floating restaurants at Amphawa Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำอัมพวา), but they do have a few. After waiting a little while, we got seats and orderded up a selection of Thai seafood. We had goong pao (กุ้งเผา roasted shrimp), pla meuk yang (ปลาหมึกย่าง grilled squid), pla pao (ปลาเผา grilled fish), and finally boo pao (ปูเผา grilled crab) to complete our entire Thai seafood feast at Amphawa Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำอัมพวา). Total price - 1,060 THB ($30.47). Overall, the seafood was pretty decent, I especially enjoyed the crab.

Miang kham (เมี่ยงคำ) - 10 THB ($0.29) per stick - This vegetable leaf wrapped snacks is one of my favorites. In every bite, it’s a real taste of Thailand.

Khanom takoh (ขนมตะโก้) - 35 THB ($1) - We had a dessert, which is coconut pudding, and this time served in a take-away clay bowl.

Yam kai maeng da (ยำไข่แมงดา) - 100 THB ($2.87) - Finally to finish off this Thai street food tour of Amphawa Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำอัมพวา) with Mike Chen, we had to try some horseshoe crab salad. It was as good as always.

Thank you very much for watching this video!

Ayutthaya Day Tour - HUGE Freshwater Shrimp in Thailand! เที่ยวอยุธยา กินกุ้งแม่น้ำจัมโบ้ มันเยิ้ม

►Subscribe now for more food videos:
►Camera gear I use:

In this video we took an Ayutthaya (อยุธยา), Thailand day trip tour from Bangkok. After visiting a temple, we then at Thai boat noodles, visited a few more attractions in Ayutthaya, and finished the day with an epic meal of huge freshwater shrimp, one of the best foods to eat in Thailand!

Ayutthaya (อยุธยา), Thailand - The drive from Bangkok to Ayutthaya took about 1.5 hours, and we rolled into Ayutthaya sometime in the middle of the morning.

Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon (วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล) - Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon (วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล) is one of the most significant and interesting ancient temples to visit in Ayutthaya. What I like most about the temple is being able to climb to the middle level for a nice view over the temple complex.

Boat noodles at Kuay Teow Reua Pa Lek (ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือป้าเล็ก) - After visiting one of the famous temples in Ayutthaya, we then headed to eat boat noodles. The boat noodles were alright, but they weren’t the best I’ve had. They were actually a little on the sweet side for me, but still good.

Wat Mahathat (วัดมหาธาตุ) - Another one of the must see attractions in Ayutthaya, locate in Ayutthaya historical park is Wat Mahathat (วัดมหาธาตุ). One of the most well known sites at this temple is the head of Buddha which fell down and has been wrapped up inside the roots of a tree.

Freshwater prawns / shrimp at Rauen Sai Nam Restaurant (ร้านอาหารเรือนสายน้ำ) - One of the best reasons to go to Ayutthaya is to eat freshwater shrimp. They are absolutely sensational. On this day trip to Ayutthaya we drove over to a restaurant called Rauen Sai Nam Restaurant (ร้านอาหารเรือนสายน้ำ). The giant freshwater prawns were grilled with nothing on them, and they are truly some of the most amazing single ingredient things you’ll ever taste in your life.

Rauen Sai Nam Restaurant
Tang Luang 347 Bang Pa-in District
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya 13160

ร้านอาหารเรือนสายน้ำ
ที่อยู่ ทางหลวง 347 บางปะอิน

It was a great Bangkok day trip to Ayutthaya, and I especially enjoyed the freshwater shrimp!

Incredible Shrimp Salad and Maybe The Best Cinnamon Buns in the World

►Camera I use:
►Check out my Stockholm travel guide for food lovers:
►Subscribe to my videos:

On Day 19 of our Round The World Trip with Star Alliance, we had a morning fika (Swedish coffee break), and enjoyed some seriously delicious cinnamon buns. After visiting the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, we then went to a garden restaurant and I had and incredibly delicious shrimp salad. It was a relaxing and another wonderful day visiting Stockholm, Sweden.

1:00 Fika at Valhallabageriet Bakery - There’s a term in Sweden that’s called fika, which means to have a coffee break. And not only does it just mean to have a coffee, but it also has is a deep part of Swedish culture. So to begin the day, Ying and I headed over to a bakery called Valhallabageriet Bakery to have a fika, and I bought a cinnamon bun, a cardamom bun, and a coffee. We arrived pretty early, so the bakery was still nice and quiet and located in a beautiful area of town. The cinnamon bun and cardamom bun were easily the best I’ve ever had. I’m not a huge baked good lover or a sweets lover, but these were on the next level. It was a very successful fika in Stockholm. Total price - 74 SEK ($8.60)

5:18 Vasa Museum - 130 SEK ($15.12) per person - Next we walked over to the Vasa Museum, which is one of the most famous museums in Stockholm that’s home to a war ship that sunk just off the coast of Stockholm. The ship was in near perfect condition and it was salvaged and is now within the Vasa Museum. It was very interesting to see. Also within that area there are numbers other Stockholm attractions, museums, and entertainment.

7:06 Blå Porten Restaurant and Cafe - For lunch we walked over to a restaurant called Blå Porten Restaurant and Cafe, which was just around the corner from the museum we visited. To begin with the restaurant is in an absolutely beautiful setting, within a garden and courtyard. You walk in the restaurant and it’s kind of cafeteria style, where you walk through the line, order the Swedish food you’d like, and then pay before finding a seat. For Ying and I, we ordered a plate of lamb meatballs, and then a Swedish styles shrimp salad. The lamb meatballs were wonderful, but the highlight of lunch was the shrimp salad which was incredibly good. The shrimp were so sweet and stringy that they almost tasted like crab. Total price - 314 SEK ($36.52)

12:40 Boat to Slussen Pier - 25 SEK ($2.91) per person - One of the best ways to get around Stockholm is by taking the ferry. The views are fantastic!

17:37 Dinner at Björk Bar & Grill - After walking all the way home and getting some wonderful views of Stockholm, and also waiting out a rain storm, we headed back to our hotel, and had dinner at the Björk Bar & Grill. I ordered some more dill cured salmon, and also one of my favorite Swedish dishes, toast skagen. I didn’t pay for this meal, but each dish cost about 120 - 170 SEK ($13.95 - $19.77).

It was an amazing final day in Stockholm, and I especially enjoyed the shrimp salad at Blå Porten Restaurant. Stay tuned for the next day when we fly from Stockholm to Barcelona!

Disclaimer and Thank You:
Thank you to Star Alliance and their Round The World tickets ( for sponsoring my business class flights.

Day 6, A hidden gem which will keep you coming back - Bangkok edition. Bangkok has some incredible Traditional Thai Food restaurants, it can be challenging to actually to find authentic Thai food. On this day I’m taking you on typical thai lunch in Sukhumvit area of Thailand!

The local restaurant - Baan Somtum Sathorn Sukhumvit - is a Traditional Thai Food restaurant selling northeastern Thai food such as Som Tum #papayasalad , sticky rice, grilled chicken, and other delicious dishes. They have more than 20 types of Som Tum dishes, if you are a papaya salad lover! I had the chance to try Baan Somtum with my friends and actually this restaurant was not far from my hotel so went there quite often. What i really loved about the restaurant is that you can order many small dishes, similar to tapas i would say. They're dishes are great and tasty. Here are the dishes that i loved. The prices are bit expensive comparing to eating on streets. However, it is worth the price.

Seafood Papaya Salad (ตําทะเล)
Fried Fish Cake (ทอดมันปลากราย)
Tom Yum with Snakehead (ต้มยำปลาช่อน)
Grilled Chicken Sabai Jai Gai Yang
.
The traditional Thai food meal was fantastic and the entire experience was outstanding.
Thank you for watching Traditional Thai Food at The Local Restaurant in Bangkok food tour in It was a wonderful city to visit with lots of scrumptious food.

5 MUST TRY Bangkok Food Stalls, THAILAND

Eating Thai food in Thailand is an unforgettable experience. The flavours, the atmosphere... did we mention the flavours? Thai cuisine is one of our favourite and Bangkok has delicious food pretty much everywhere. In this episode, we bring you 5 Thai food stalls and restaurants that you absolutely must try in Bangkok.

We start this food tour off with what is said to be the BEST pad thai in Bangkok, Thailand. This is a bold claim but if you love pad thai, then Phat Thai Nana should be on your list of must try food in Bangkok. They only make pad thai at this humble Thai restaurant but they do it so well!

Phat Thai Nana
Address: 152 Samsen Rd, Ban Phan Thom, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Hours:
Saturday & Sunday Closed
Monday - Friday 12–9pm

Second up we try a sidewalk street food place that is super famous for their tom yum soup. If you love those strong Thai flavours of salty, spicy, sweet and sour, then tom yum goong is a must try in Bangkok. Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu is best known for their prawn tom yum soup and they have a number of other dishes too. Many have stated that this shop sells the best tom yum goong in Bangkok and we can easily understand why.

Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu
Address: Soi Kraisi, Talat Yot, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Hours:
Monday, Thursday & Saturday: Closed
All other days, 9am - 8 pm

Boat noodles is one of the first dishes we tried in Bangkok back when we visited Thailand over 10 years ago so when we re-visited the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market to shoot our Top Things to do in Bangkok, Thailand video: we had to get ourselves a bowl of boat noodles again.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Address: Damnoen Saduak, Damnoen Saduak District, Ratchaburi 70130, Thailand
Hours: Monday - Sunday 7am–5pm
NB: this place is about 1.5 hours out of central Bangkok

When we heard there was a Thai restaurant where the chef use to cook for the Thai Royal family, we knew we had to try the food there. Two of the most popular dishes to get from Krua Apsorn are their fluffy crab meat omelette and stir fried crab meat with yellow chilli. There are numerous branches of Krua Apsorn. The restaurant in Bangkok's Dusit district along Samsen Road is the original branch, however we ate at Krua Apsorn Dinso Rd which is another very well established branch and in close walking proximity from Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (roughly just 15 mins walk away).

Krua Apsorn
Address: 169 Dinso Rd, บวรนิเวศ, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200
Hours: Monday - Sunday 10.30am - 8pm

For our final stop, we met up with our good friends Shinji & Yoko at another restaurant that Mark Weins made famous, the legendary Thai restaurant Soei. Mark Weins has described Soei as one of his favourite food spots so you know it has to be good! It's our second time eating at Soei and it was just as good as we remembered. Many years ago we ate at Soei's original location which has since moved so be aware of the new address below. Food is cooked slowly and with a lot of love here so make sure you've got time to spare when visiting Soei.

Soei
Address: Phibun Watthana 6 Alley, Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400, Thailand
Hours:
Saturday Closed
Sunday - Friday 10am–9:30pm

We hope you like this Thai food episode as much as we did making it! Let us know if you go to Bangkok and try any of these food spots out.

While all of us at Thaifoodies really enjoy reviewing the exciting and diverse fare on offer in Bangkok, every now and again you find a restaurant that serves up such incredible fare that you get that little shiver down your spine when you take that first sip or nibble.  Eat Me, just off Convent Road n the Silom area of Bangkok is just such a place so I'm going to give you some very useful advice.

Don't think!  -  just watch our video and then go to Eat Me!  You will thank us!  Oh, and don't forget to subscribe :)

From the Eat Me website:

Opening the doors back in May of 1998, Eat Me has been called a veteran of the Bangkok dining scene, yet we think our restaurant feels as fresh and as alive as ever. Some have put this down to our progressive approach, but we believe a number of factors keep diners coming back again and again.
Head chef Tim Butler, who hails from New York, exhibits genuine creativity in the kitchen, fusing influences from around the world. Dishes are characterised by daring flavour combinations, which showcase a kaleidoscope of international ingredients.

DISHES ARE CHARACTERISED BY DARING FLAVOUR COMBINATIONS, WHICH SHOWCASE A KALEIDOSCOPE OF INTERNATIONAL INGREDIENTS…

Set over three floors with a sleek, muted colour scheme, the restaurant houses a bar and a bamboo-shrouded veranda, which is irresistibly romantic at night when illuminated by flickering candlelight. Friendly staff and fabulous cocktails are further reasons to visit – and help explain why Eat Me is much-loved as a late-night dining destination.

Although Eat Me has been around for almost the entire time I've lived in Bangkok I never actually visited this classy late-night eatery and now I'm really kicking myself.  Of course, our intrepid critic Babe knew and at long last she introduced the whole team to some truly impressive dishes and potables.

We entered the cool confines of Eat Me and procured a high table adjacent to the bar and were shortly enjoying a couple Negronis while we reviewed the list of unique Thai cocktails available at Eat Me.  Eat Me mixologist Khun Pop has created a menu of drinks that capture the essence of Thai cuisine but the a drinkable form that is oh so very yummy.

Check out our video review above for our reactions and critique of the dishes we samples at Eat Me including:

Pan Seared Sea Scallops 850 Baht ($26.56)
White Asparagus/Caviar/Jambon Ham/Cheese w/ Saffron Sauce Plate 790 Baht ($24.68)
Lab Moo Cocktail - 390 Baht ($12.18)
Truffle Risotto - 750 Baht ($23.43)
Duck Confit 780 Baht ($24.37)
Grilled Iberico Pork Pluma 1,250 Baht ($39.06)
Lemongrass Creme Brulee 360 Baht ($11.25)
Flourless Dark Chocolate 380 Baht ($11.87)

Eat Me is open everyday from 3 PM to 1 AM.   Head on down for a memorable experience - you'll thank us!

Week of Checking Out New Restaurants in Bangkok - August 2019 Episode 4

Last week we went to see the progress of our latest business venture. The location is still not ready for us to build or shop. Matter of fact, the whole entire mall is not ready to open until sometime late September.

So delay, no surprise. But overall, we're happy with our location. At least there are walls.

Also last wee Dtan and I decided to try out a bunch of restaurants that we've never eaten in before. Just to be food curious.

An Ocean Front Restaurant, in Thailand, Serves me the Spiciest Thai Food I've Ever EATEN

#thaispicy #thailandfoodie #thaifood
In this video, I will show you what happened when I ate lunch at an ocean front restaurant, in Thailand. That restaurant served me the spiciest Thai food I've ever eaten. Thai food is delicious. Unfortunately, Thai food is also very spicy. I am not a person who can eat spicy foods. The view from this ocean front restaurant was amazing. The only food they had on this menu were Thai foods. Thus, I had no choice but to eat something that was spicy. The Thai food tasted great! I was very satisfied, and surprised at how good the Thai food was. I hope you enjoy this Thailand travel vlog from two traveling expats, who are eating Thai food.
