Similarities have been found between the experiences of these two women who joined the royal family.
Prince Harry said that before he and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior royals, they feared that history would repeat itself. And this is not the first time his wife has been compared to Lady Diana in some British tabloids on the issue of treatment in the royal family.

Many people do not agree with his justification for leaving the UK and avoiding the media.
Because now they can see Meghan and Harry more than they do in the UK.
Harry told Opera that the Netflix and Spotify deals were never part of his plan, but the royal family separated them financially in early 2020.
Everywhere she went, a large number of journalists and photographers were capturing her every move on camera, said James Brooks.
James believes Prince Harry's views on the media have been influenced by the time Lady Diana died.
Harry and William's opinion of the media is influenced by [their mother's death] because in their eyes the cause of their mother's death was a paparazzi, he said.
Princess Diana died in a car accident on August 31, 1997, in a tunnel on a Paris street. Prince Harry was 12 at the time.
The driver, Henry Paul, was drinking and the paparazzi on motorcycles behind him were chasing him.
An investigation later found that Diana had died as a result of gross negligence by the driver and the paparazzi.
In a 2017 BBC documentary, Prince Harry talks about his mother's death and the role of the paparazzi.
I think the hardest thing is that the people who chased him in the tunnel were taking pictures of his death in the back seat of the car.
Despite Prince Harry's statement in October 2019, Katie believes that the paparazzi did not pursue Meghan as Diana did.
However, he thinks that Harry is clearly annoyed by the stories that criticize Meghan.
He is criticizing journalists who he thinks are constantly making negative statements about his wife.
There are a lot of negative stories about spending, he said. That includes the cost of renovating their home, which is covered by taxpayers' money.
The couple later paid 24 2.4 million, or 33 3.3 million.
There is also the cost of designer clothing from the Duchess of Sussex, which can run into the hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Prince Harry's 'unhelpful' decision to pour his heart out to James Corden has already caused 'disquiet' at Buckingham Palace after the Queen's grandson insisted he and Meghan Markle 'never walked away' from the royal family by emigrating to Los Angeles from London, declaring: 'I had to get my family out of there'.
The Duke of Sussex said the move to California last year was about 'stepping back rather than stepping down' as royals as he appeared on The Late Late Show with Mr Corden, who has gazumped Oprah Winfrey to the exclusive interview with his British friend.
The Duchess of Sussex also makes a brief appearance on the show during a FaceTime call, revealing her pet name for Harry is 'Haz', while her husband calls her 'Meg' throughout and reveals that his grandmother bought their son Archie a waffle maker for Christmas.
And in another extraordinary moment Harry raps the theme tune to The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air outside the mansion where it was filmed before the royal and Mr Corden head off to complete a muddy army assault course together, ferried around LA on an open-top tour bus serving afternoon tea.
But critics have questioned the timing of his 'prancing' TV appearance, released last night just as the Queen gave a rare public statement encouraging all Britons to have the jab.
The timing of Harry's TV appearance is 'unhelpful: and has caused 'disquiet' at the palace, especially with Prince Philip spending his 11th day in hospital battling a nasty infection. 'When the Queen speaks as she has done about the vaccine it is accepted that she has a clear field', the insider said.
Others watching the film, where Harry complains about the 'toxic' media attention he received in the UK during a TV interview watched by millions, urged him to 'stop bl**dy whining' and 're-writing history'. He was also accused of 'ignoring' the multi-million dollar deals he and his wife have signed with Spotify and Netflix, even praising the streaming giant's The Crown, despite its negative portrayal of his family, including his parents Charles and Diana.
Royal expert Robert Jobson, a biographer of Prince Charles and the Duke of Edinburgh, said: 'Timing is everything isn't it. On the day that the Queen has issued a very, very important message about the whole of the nation getting the jab, that message has sort of been blurred by Harry, the man who wants a private life, talking about his private life again'. Royal expert Phil Dampier said: 'As The Queen urges us to think of others, Prince Harry prances about in LA and makes the absurd claim that he hasn't walked away from the royals. What planet is he on? Hollywood I suppose.'
While commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told MailOnline: ‘What is Haz thinking of, appearing on this sort of show and making an idiot of himself? He reveals the Queen gave Archie a waffle maker for Christmas. Waffle is what he does. The script is puerile. It's nauseating to watch, all 17 minutes of it.’
Prince Harry decided to open up to James Corden about his relationship with Meghan, his son Archie and their decision to quit as frontline royals, saying the pressure of being in London was 'destroying my mental health', branding Britain's media 'toxic'.
Describing the couple's decision he said: 'It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment, which I think a lot of people saw. So I did what any father or husband would do and thought: 'How do I get my family out of there'. But we never walked away'.
And while the interview was carried out before the Queen stripped the Sussexes of their royal patronages last week, Harry appears to know what was coming and says: 'My life is public service, so wherever I am in the world it's going to be the same thing. As far as I'm concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side [in Britain], I will never walk away'.
The royals have already been warned to 'hide behind the sofa' when the Sussexes' incendiary interview with Oprah is broadcast on Sunday March 7, with experts saying the Late Show appearance suggests the 90-minute CBS show will focus much more on Meghan.
In a wide-ranging chat mostly carried out on an open-top bus, an off the leash Harry also reveals that he has had Zoom calls with Prince Philip and Queen, who sent Archie a waffle maker for Christmas, and describes his son as 'hysterical', claiming his first word was 'crocodile'. He also says he knew Meghan was 'the one' after two dates, describing their relationship as '0-60 in two months'.

Meghan Markle's childhood sweetheart says he does not believe she bullied members of the royal staff but imagines she refused to 'fall in line' with expectations
Meghan Markle's childhood boyfriend has said he does not believe that she ever bullied members of staff, saying that his guess was she refused to 'fall in line' and spoke out against being disrespected.
Joshua Silverstein, a Los Angeles-based actor, told Us Weekly on Wednesday that he does not 'personally see her' mistreating employees of the royal family.
In a report on March 2, days before Markle and Prince Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, The Times reported that members of their household in London were left traumatized by working with the former actress, and senior members of their team were deeply troubled at the 'bullying' of junior staff members.
Silverstein, who was Markle's first kiss, aged 13, and dated her throughout that summer, said he could not believe the allegations.
'I see her doing whatever it is she feels like she should do in order to be happy and coexist within a system that has probably not been very welcoming to who she is and where she comes from,' he told the magazine.
'When you find women of color — particularly black women — standing up for themselves and speaking out and speaking against what they feel [is] disrespect or oppression, often times whiteness tends to classify that in negative ways because they don't want that to happen.
'It's almost like people are expected to know their place and whenever they don't fall in line with that, then people say it's a problem.'
The Times was told that staffers were reduced to tears and couldn't 'stop shaking' following a confrontation with Markle - claims she vehemently denied.
Markle, 39, was said to be 'saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.'
Buckingham Palace is currently investigating the claims.
Silverstein, now a married father of two who will be conducting a summer session at Cazadero Performing Arts Family Camp, said he doubted the 'scrutiny' and 'negative criticism' will disappear with the Sussexes settled in California.
But he said that her happiness was all that mattered.
'She's probably having to make hard decisions and uncomfortable ones for the sake of just being able to smile the next day,' he said.
'That's what life is about — making tough decisions so that you can live the life that allows you to thrive as the person you want to thrive as.
'As long as she's happy and he's happy, that's all that matters.'
Silverstein and Markle's teenage romance began after the pair met at a drama-focused summer camp organized by the Agape International Spiritual Center in California.
Founded in 1986, adherents, who include Meghan's mother Doria and Winfrey, believe that God is everywhere, that sickness starts in the mind and that positive thinking has a healing effect.
As a result, Silverstein says, participants in the camp were encouraged to take part in meditation sessions as well as in acting and dance workshops – the latter much loved by Meghan, then a budding actress.
He says the pair initially bonded over their mixed race heritage, telling DailyMailTV in 2018 that they found themselves thrown together because of their 'intimate' class of 15.
Silverstein told Us Weekly that Markle and her father Thomas had a 'challenging' relationship.
'I knew her dad growing up as kids,' he said.
'I didn't see him often, but I did know that Meghan's relationship with her dad was complicated and I understood that as most teenager-to-parent relationships are.
'Being there when Meghan's parents were divorced at that time - it's hard raising your kids without the secondary parent.
'It's all challenging. I don't think there was anything specifically surprising to find out at that time because there were a lot of people that I knew [who] had challenging relationships with their parents. But I did know about it.'
He said that he 'couldn't speak to the specificity of what Meghan went through' with her father, but said that he remembered having 'very cordial' interactions him.
Their relationship as father and daughter 'might have been strained' at the time as a result of the divorce, Silverstein said.
Meghan's father moved to Mexico, living south of Tijuana, and the pair have been estranged since he began speaking to the tabloid press shortly before her wedding.
