The Bollenstreek is famous for the amazing Dutch Tulip Fields between March and May. These 'flower fields' are also known as the Garden of Europe. All the different types of flowers and in particular the tulips are shown in the Flower Park of Keukenhof. Keukenhof Park is located in the city of Lisse. The footage in this video is taken in Noordwijk and Lisse near Keukenhof but not in the official park.

Tulips From Above - Aerial view of beautiful flower fields in the Netherlands
In this aerial film I explore some of the beautiful tulip fields scattered around the Netherlands, including a very special one dedicated to health care workers fighting the coronavirus. The tulips usually blossom in April and early May, and the immense fields are a spectacular sight. From up close, but also from the air.
Originally growing wild the nature, tulips started to be cultivated in Istanbul around one thousand years ago. Many centuries later, they came under the attention of Western diplomats and gradually grew into a highly valued commodity, especially during the ‘Tulip mania’ period in the Netherlands. These days, the Netherlands are the main producer and exporter of tulip bulbs.
Usually, tourists from around the world come to admire the vivid colors of the tulip fields, both in the famous ‘Keukenhof’ and in other parts of the country. This year, it’s not possible for most travelers to visit Holland, but hopefully this clip can provide a glimpse into the beauty of our amazing tulip fields.

The striking colors of the flowering tulip bulbs are a typical sight in Holland during the spring. The bright red, pink and yellow colors are overwhelmingly beautiful and are a must see, or should we say, a must experience! The Kop van Noord-Holland area is a perfect place to explore the real Holland. Starting from Amsterdam, this rural region full of tulip fields, windmills, and the coast and dunes is within easy travelling distance.
The region between Petten, Den Helder, Nieuwe Niedorp, and Wieringerwerf is unique. This piece of land wedged between the North Sea and the IJsselmeer boasts the world’s single biggest flower bulb field. At the same time, you will be surrounded by the coast in the Kop van Noord-Holland (the northernmost part of Noord-Holland). Visit one of the attractive seaside towns along the North Sea coast or have fun on one of the small beaches on the banks of IJsselmeer lake.
The Kop van Noord-Holland boasts the world’s biggest flower field. This area transforms into a huge sea of flowers from mid-March to mid-May. The flowers are at their most beautiful towards the end of April. With its fantastic cycling and hiking routes past endless flower fields, this extraordinary area is a great alternative if you want to get away from the crowds in the Keukenhof.
With more than 5,000 hectares of tulip fields, annual festivals and a host of unique activities to enjoy, Flevoland is one of the most spectacular regions in the Netherlands’ to explore the country’s amazing flower production.
In Flevoland, Holland’s youngest province and the largest land reclamation project in the world, millions of colourful blooms are springing up on land which was once the sea floor of the Zuiderzee. Throughout the area you will discover abundant nature. Walk or cycle through beautiful landscapes and along vast flower fields, an unforgettable experience.
One of the best ways to explore the region’s remarkable scenery and flower fields is by walking, cycling or driving along one of the routes which form the Tulip Route Flevoland every spring. All along these beautiful routes through the countryside around Dronten, Lelystad and Zeewolde, you will discover vast vistas filled with blooming flowers, charming farms and traditional Dutch landscapes. The routes range from around 10 to 70km. Along the way you can take a break at a designated stop to take part in a range of activities – including farm tours where you will learn how tulips grow, and even crafting your own bouquet in a flower-picking garden.
From April to early May you can visit the Tulip Festival in Noordoostpolder, which offers the chance to admire more than 2,000 varieties of the iconic flower in special gardens and shows. Further activities include carriage rides, pop-up eateries and children’s attractions.
Will you be visiting Holland in spring? Then be sure to visit Keukenhof, where you will experience the gorgeous views of blooming Dutch tulips and other flowers for which Holland is famous. Keukenhof is the most famous and largest flower park in the world and lies not far from Amsterdam.

Tulips from Holland are world famous. If you want to see the Dutch tulip fields in bloom, you should visit Holland in April and May. This is the same period in which the biggest flower park in the world, Keukenhof, opens its doors.
Keukenhof is a park where more than 7 million flower bulbs are planted every year. Gardens and four pavilions show a fantastic collection of: tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, orchids, roses, carnations, irises, lilies and many other flowers. You will be overwhelmed by a spectacle of colors and perfumes.

The tulip fields of Holland are a nature spectacle. You’ll find them in many places in the Netherlands. But you have more options to see them. There is even a theme park for it and a new flower market. Read my article with best tips:
Springtime in the Netherlands means fields of blooming flowers like tulips and hyacinths. Rows and rows of lots of different colours. You can take a guided bike- or walking tour to see them. These are the best tips to see the flowering tulips.
There are many ways to visit them. I prefer to walk or ride my bicycle past the fields. It’s great to go and find them on your own accord, on foot or by bike. You can easily make a stop on the fields for photos.
But be aware, don't go into the fields. The delicate flowers are easily tread on, which means they can not be sold anymore. The tulip farmer will obviously not be happy. So ask permission first.

The Keukenhof gardens is of course the most know place to visit but outside this beatiful park is where the real beauty starts :) Scattered along the western coast of the Netherlands are many beautiful and sometimes very long tulip fields.
