KAUAI TRAVEL GUIDE | Best Things to do in Kauai, Hawaii

KAUAI, HAWAII - These are my recommendations for best things to do in Kauai, Hawaii:

-
This past December, I took my mother on a 10-day adventure to Kauai, Hawaii! I planned a packed itinerary to explore as much of the Hawaiian island possible; from Kapa'a and Poipu to the Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon. We found the best places to eat and best hiking trails in Kauai thanks to local advice from Hawaiian friends on Instagram.
In my humble opinion, these are the best things to do in Kauai!
I want to come back to Kauai again and do the full, 11-mile Kalalau trail, and discover more of the Waimea Canyon and Napali Coast. I would also like to return to discover the best beaches in Kauai!

THINGS TO DO IN WAIKIKI HAWAII: Oahu travel, free & budget must do activities!

In February 2023 we left our 2013 Ford Transit Connect Micro Campervan parked in our snow covered driveway as we traveled to beautiful Hawaii via plane! We spent the first two days on the island of Oahu in the Waikiki area, checking off some must do bucket list activities including hiking to the top of Diamond Head Crater, eating malasadas at Leonard's Bakery and visiting the Bishop Museum. Mike also caught some waves during his surf lesson with Hawaii Surf Guru before visiting Pearl Harbor, sipping on Mai Tais at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and catching a free Hula show on the beach. Our Hawaiian adventures in our 48th state are just beginning!

If you are looking for surf lessons in the Waikiki area, check this place out! (not sponsored, just really enjoyed the experience)

Discover Haneda International Airport's Customer-Focused Facilities. ????????

Haneda Airport Terminal 3 is a terminal that opened in 2010.
There are streets inspired by Edo (old Tokyo) and Japanese harmony is expressed here for the enjoyment of overseas visitors to Japan.
However, there are many tricks to help you rediscover Japan.
It is a perfect place for a vacation trip.

Haneda Airport Terminal 3 is the terminal where international flights arrive and depart. In fact, this terminal is relatively new, having opened in 2010. International flights have been arriving and departing from Haneda Airport since it opened, but by 1978, overseas airlines had moved to Narita Airport.

Edo Koji
There are a total of 44 shops of various types in Terminal 3. It is new, and although it is an airport, it has a good old Japanese feel to it, making it popular with both Japanese and travelers from all over the world. In addition to a collection of famous gourmet restaurants popular in Tokyo, there are also many attractions such as the observation deck where you can see many planes and the Edo Alley where you can feel the atmosphere of Edo, making it a great date spot and a place to go out.

Haneda Airport is one of the largest airports in Japan, with planes arriving and departing from all over the world. Below is a list of airlines from around the world that fly in and out of Haneda Airport Terminal 3.

List of airlines using Terminal 3
All Nippon Airways (ANA)
Japan Airlines (JAL)
Peach Aviation (APJ)

Useful places before boarding the plane
It is no exaggeration to say that Edo Koji is the most popular attraction at Haneda Airport. On the 4th floor, reached by escalators from the departures level, you will find an Edo-style cityscape with many unique shops. All of the shops are designed to convey the charm of the New Japan/Tokyo from Haneda Airport, as well as the culture and traditional skills of the people. This is an area where not only foreign tourists but also Japanese can rediscover a new Japan just by walking around.

Not only are the streetscapes of Edo (old Tokyo) recreated, but they are all constructed using real solid wood and traditional Japanese construction methods such as hand-kanna.

The street is lined with several general merchandise stores based on the concept of wa (harmony). They include BRUNO, a select store of daily necessities that enrich the world, KIRI, where you can easily purchase traditional Japanese crafts, and Manakanai Kosume, a natural material cosmetics store born in Kanazawa, all of which will make you stop and take a look.

There are also a number of restaurants from all over Japan where you have to wait in line to get in. These include Zunda Saryo, famous for its Zunda Shake, which originated in Sendai; Tsurutontantan, an udon specialty restaurant that also has branches in Roppongi and other locations; and Takafuku, produced by the long-established sukiyaki restaurant Imahan. Why not visit one of these restaurants before you travel overseas or when you return home to enjoy Japanese delicacies?

On the 5th floor of Terminal 3, you will find the TOKYO POP TOWN area, where you can feel the now of Japan in a completely different atmosphere from that of Edo Koji. The area is divided into the HOT ZONE and the COOL ZONE.

In the HOT ZONE, you will find shops selling character merchandise popular in the Showa and Heisei eras, as well as a powerful slot car racing track. In the COOL ZONE, you can find the official Hello Kitty store, which is very popular among foreigners, and Don Quijote, which sells a variety of Japanese souvenirs.

In the back of the COOL ZONE, there is a Purikura (Purikura photo booth), which is only available at Haneda Airport. It is also recommended to bring your foreign friends.

Let's get cured at the planetarium PLANETARIUM Starry Cafe
Haneda Airport Terminal 3 has a planetarium cafe, the only one of its kind in Japan! You can enjoy the cafe menu while gazing at the stars, and it is also recommended for dates.

It is located on the 5th floor near TOKYO POP TOWN. The cafe is operated by the Pronto cafe chain, so you can enjoy familiar noodles and drinks, and with over 20 different programs, you can enjoy yourself no matter how many times you visit.
