All You Can Eat KOREAN NOODLE Hotpot & TONKATSU (Fried Pork Cutlet) in Seoul

Fried Pork Cutlet(Tonkatsu) & Must Try RAMEN in Tokyo Japan

Yes, I'm finally in Japan!
My first meal in Japan was at a tonkatsu pork restaurant, and I could see why it was highly rated. The pork was perfectly crispy and so juicy. I really loved the pork over rice, and you can't go wrong with the tonkatsu sandwich.

After 3 pork dishes, I was in the mood for some ramen. I ordered 2 bowls: Yuzuratan ramen and Yuzu Tsuyu Tsukemen (dip ramen). I really loved how in the spicy ramen, the noodles just soaked up all the broth.

Finally, since I was in Harajuku, I had to end the night with some dessert. Harajuku is known for crepes, so I went to a location that had an assortment of choices. I got the blueberry cheesecake crepe. Yeah... maybe a bit heavy after the 2 dinners I finished. Anyhow, it was amazingly crispy, and the tartness of the blueberries in combination with the soft cheesecake made it the perfect combination!

Maisen || Tonkatsu

Afuri || Ramen

Best Japanese Tonkatsu - GOLDEN BOAR Gourmet Vs. Old-Style Food in Tokyo, Japan!

Which Japanese tonkatsu would you prefer to try? Or try them both in Tokyo!
Subscribe for more videos►
T-shirts for sale here►

Tonkatsu is a Japanese food that has international influence - it was originally a dish inspired from a European fried meat cutlet like Wiener Schnitzel, but it’s now one of the common Japanese dishes. Usually a pork cutlet is dipped in egg and flour, coated in breadcrumbs, and deep fried to a golden crisp. Tonkatsu is served with rice, cabbage salad, and a tonkatsu sauce which typically consists of Japanese worcestershire.

Just like with all types of Japanese food, there’s everything from fast food restaurants serving tonkatsu, to gourmet high end restaurants serving Tonkatsu.

So for this video I wanted to taste two of the best tonkatsu’s in Tokyo, eat them back to back, and compare their differences and decided on a winner… since they were so different, it ended up being a little harder to compare than I had first thought!

1. Butagumi Restaurant (豚組) - Gourmet tonkatsu, rated as one of the best
Golden boar from Hyogo
Ryuka-ton from Okinawa
Total price - 6,500 JPY ($58.70) for 2

Butagumi Restaurant (豚組) is a fancy and gourmet tonkatsu restaurant, but at the same time it’s very friendly, situated in an old Japanese house environment. One of the best things about Butagumi Restaurant (豚組) is that you can choose your specific breed of pig from the menu. Their tonkatsu is incredibly high quality and extremely delicate. Amazing.

2. Tonkatsu Tonki (とんき 目黒店) - One of the most legendary and oldest tonkatsu restaurants in Tokyo
Fatty tonkatsu
Total price - 3,800 JPY ($34.32) for 2

Tonkatsu Tonki (とんき 目黒店) is one of the most well known restaurants in Tokyo for tonkatsu, that’s been an institution in Tokyo for over 70 years. They make a much different type of tonkatsu, much rougher and the type of tonkatsu that you can chow down on, and add loads of sauce and mustard to it. One of the best things about Tonkatsu Tonki (とんき 目黒店) for me is that you can see the entire kitchen and watch your tonkatsu being made.

The Japanese tonkatsu face-off decision was so hard… and I came to 2 conclusions.

For taste - there’s no doubt Butagumi Restaurant (豚組) wins for me.
For style and ambiance - I really loved Tonkatsu Tonki (とんき 目黒店).

I think you just have to try them both when you’re in Tokyo, Japan!

THE SPICIEST RAMEN in Tokyo at Karashibi Kikanbo - DEVIL LEVEL Japanese Food!

Subscribe for more videos►
T-shirts for sale here►

Karashibi Miso Ramen Kikanbo is known for serving the spiciest bowl of ramen you can eat in Tokyo, Japan, and not only is it insanely spicy, you’ll also find that it’s one of the most flavorful bowls of ramen you’ll ever eat as well.

They have two shops, the one of the corner serves only Tsukemen, a style of Japanese ramen where the noodles are dry and you dip them in the sauce. For the traditional bowl of ramen, you walk around the corner to the side and that’s the shop you’re looking for.

Like most ramen restaurants in Tokyo, you enter to a vending machine and choose your bowl of ramen, pay and get a ticket. There are two different spice levels to choose from, chili 1-5 and Sichuan pepper 1-5, 5 being the strongest which is called Devil Level!

I decided to go Devil Level all the way, both chili and Sichuan pepper. Price - 1500 JPY ($13.60) for my bowl. From the top bowl, you pay an extra 200 Yen due to adding so much more spices.

First of all, the Japanese food miso ramen was outstanding, the flavor of the broth was incredibly delicious. On my first bite, what hit me hard was the Sichuan pepper, that made my mouth start tingling and made it hard for me to control my mouth or even talk! The Devil Level chili was not too bad for me, but it was the huge amount of Sichuan chili that almost did me in.

You don’t have to order Devil Level, you can order whatever level you like, but the ramen at Tokyo’s Karashibi Miso Ramen Kikanbo is sure to blow you away with insane flavor!

Karashibi Miso Ramen Kikanbo
2 Chome-10-10 Kajicho, Chiyoda, Tokyo 101-0044, Japan
Price - 1500 JPY ($13.60)

Eating Korean Tonkatsu (돈까스) and Udon (우동) in Seoul, Korea Travel Video Transcript:

Okay so what is on the menu for today Sam?

Alright, so for lunch today we're having Tonkatsu (돈까스) and Udon (우동) and this place is right nearby our apartment where we're staying at in Hapjeong here in Seoul and I just happened to discover it. As was at the sauna the other day and I was walking around, and I'm like ah I'm really hungry, afterwards it was like I don't know like probably really late at night. Ten or eleven. So I saw this place outside that had a huge Donkatsu (돈가스) sign and I'm like I've gotta come here and try it. Yeah, and he came without me. Yeah, and let me tell you they have the biggest portions of Donkkaseu (돈까스) so when it comes here we're going to be in for a treat.

Alright, so we need to show you guys what showed up at the table like two seconds ago. Yeah.

This is insane.

I wasn't kidding when I said the portions were huge. Like massive. Here is my hand for a sense of scale. This is bigger than like both of my hands. It is bigger than your head.

It is bigger. Way bigger. It is bigger than your stomach. It is way bigger than my face.

So basically this is a Japanese dish that has become popular in Korea. It was invented in the 19th Century. It is basically a breaded piece of pork cutlet. Yeah, and it deep-fried. So if you look down here you can see that it has a gravy sauce over it. Oh la lah.

But you can also get it in Korea as well with a curry. Yeah, with a curry sauce. Sometimes you get it without sauce so it just has cheese stuffed inside. That is also really good too. Yeah.

And there is just a whole bunch of different variations and it has become such a staple in Korea that you can find it almost anywhere. You can find it at kimbap restaurants, you can find it at a restaurant like here that specializes in it. Yeah. And you can also find it in Japanese Korean restaurants so. And you know what else?

We've had similar dishes to this around the world wouldn't you say?

Yeah, we sure have. Schnitzel comes to mind. It reminds me of schnitzel in Austria and Germany. Yeah. And it also reminds me of Milanesa in Argentina. So this is the kind of classic pork cutlet meal and I'm just going to take my first bite here. Yeah, you're just soaking it in the gravy.

Soaking it in the gravy.

Alright, so my has arrived as well. And when I saw the size of the bowl it was like oh my gosh. This could feed a family or like a couple. Check it out. This is like a massive bowl. I knew you were going to like this one. I don't know how I'm going to finish all of this. But basically I'm having Udong (우동) which is a thick type of wheat flower noodle. We've got some greens here. No idea what kind of greens. It looks like maybe some fish cakes, some tempura. Um, yeah and we asked for it spicy. So we'll see what that is like.

Ah, my tongue was immediately on fire. So he was not kidding about the spice.

Let's try with some greens. I wonder what this is?

There we go. Actually I've already tried this when you weren't looking I took a piece. So this is your second bite. I didn't even see you having your first one.

It is good. I just love this sweet gravy. It works really well with the pork. Really nice.

Well, I'm going to finish my donkaseu (돈가스). You've got your work cut out with your Udon (우동).

But anyways let's talk about price point. So on to price point. So my Tonkatsu (돈까스) was eight thousand Won and you Udong (우동) was six thousand Won so it came to fourteen thousand Won in total which is W14,000 KRW. And that is roughly like under twelve US dollars. About eleven something US dollars.
