Aljazeera - The Traveler - Albania - Episode 1 (activate subtitles)

We haven’t been posting much over the past year. Because we were busy with these ones.
This is the first episode from a season we directed and produced for The Traveler, a new travel series broadcasted on Al Jazeera Arabic.
What do you think should we publish all 15 episodes?
Make sure to activate the subtitles while watching.

All episodes:
originally launched and broadcasted in June 2018

This time: Albania!

“Hidden gem” is an overused word, but when talking about Albania both words have their true sense. Being closed off from the world for decades, ruled by despot forces, Albania opened it’s doors only a quarter of a century ago. After the fall of Communism, Albania was at once revealed to the world. Rugged mountain scapes, immensely rich of deep turquoise blue water flowing through it’s rivers, hot springs, a Mediterranean vibe, the friendliest people and last but not least the highly fascinating history and heritage; castles, ruins from the big empires to the bunkers left in the past century.

In this episode the remote and rugged Albanian Alps, the Krüje bazaar, The Skanderbeg museum, amazing Lake Koma, Lake Shkoder, Rozafa Castle, climbing and zip lining in Kosovo

HIKING IN ALBANIA - 600 km from Valbona to Saranda

Before reaching Albania, we heard absolutely everything about this country, the best and the worst. Now, after having hiked 600 kilometers there from North to South, we are happy to share with you our experience of Spring 2019.

We literally fell in love with Albania and Albanians. We discovered a country where the nature is still all around and where people would not only invite you for a dinner and a homestay, they would give you their bed to make you feel at home and to give you the best experience of their country.
No less than 6 guests came to hike with in this amazing country!

We arrived from Montenegro in the Valley of Valbona, climbed to Theth before heading towards the Lake Skodër. We discovered the surroundings of the Lake Uzle and took a ferry ride on the Lake Komani. From there, we went to Kosovo and North Macedonia. We came back to Albania on the edge of the lake Ohrid, in Pogradec and went adventuring in the mountains of Korça. The canyon of Osum was spectacular and the city of Gjirokaster very nice. Of course, we visited the Blue Eye, probably the most touristic place of Albania. Finally, we reached the sea between Saranda and Ksamil before crossing the border with Greece.

Albania keeps surprising me !! Syri I Kaltër / Blue eye

Finally, finally, finally ! I met so many people who visited this place but never visited myself. Since I was already in Gjirokaster I hitchhiked there and had an amazing experience. Felt really strange having almost no one in this place... The water was insanely clear no just the spring but the river too. And I made a travel buddy!! We'll explore Saranda together for a few days !! Amazing day ! Albania never stops surprising me !!!!!! Shume bukur!

Fascinating Tirana City (Walk, Climb, Fly): Part 2 of our Epic Albania Adventure and Roadtrip 2018

Matthew, Mark and Luke go on an epic road trip and adventure to explore Albania in Summer 2018. In this second part, we are in Albania's capital city, Tirana, where we took the free walking tour to do some sightseeing, climb up a pyramid (fly my drone) and go down into a huge Cold War bunker (Bunk'Art).

Watch our Tirana travel vlog to see how we climb up the Tirana Pyramid, which I also capture from the air with my drone. Coming down was even more scary and I basically had to let my backpack (yes, I carried all my photography equipment up) slide down the pyramid.

What is the Cost of Living in ALBANIA? (2019)

Ever since I moved to Albania people from the US have been shocked at how little things cost. So, in light of this, I decided to dive into the cost of living a normal life in this beautiful country. While the cost of living may seem extremely low, you have to keep in mind that average salaries are also low. Life in Albania isn't exactly cheap for many Albanians.

This is Albania...? Theth National Park

This was the first day to explore a little bit in the area and made it to the water fall.Walking in this place is so calming with the incredible views that's around you. All locals are really happy to help you, and it's just so quiet... I hope that this place will stay like this. I chilled at the guest house table outside in the evening and I don't know I feel like I was truly enjoying just sitting outside talking to the staff of the guesthouse... This day will be one of the days that I'll remember forever!!

Hitchhiking in Albania is DANGEROUS ? (She thought we were getting kidnapped)

Another day of hitchhiking in Albania, joined by my German Grandma Anja! We had such a good time in Himare but we had to go back to Berat. Since Anja hadn't hitchhiked before and quite interested in trying it for the first time, we decided to hitchhike back to Berat. Even though the route is not very simple, we somehow managed to get back to Berat thanks to those kind people who took us. The last one was a bit confusing and the fact that Anja was so sacred right next to me made me a bit worried but they really were nice people. Cannot wait to hitchhike more!!

Backpackers Paradise| ALBANIA 2019| Europes hidden natural beauty

Our travels to an uncommon destination: Albania

We journey through the capital city of Tirana were we flew into, drive to a small village called Ulez and end up surrounded by mountains and waterfalls in Theth, a backpackers paradise.

The untouched natural beauty of this country is something to see and is a great stop before going to common travel countries like Greece or Croatia. I highly recommend a stop in Albania.

Albania to America: A Christmas Surprise!

#ad

Back in August, I had the fantastic idea of buying a plane ticket from Albania to the United States to surprise my family for Christmas. As I was thinking through details, I realized that the easy part was the airports and plane, but I was going to have a bit of trouble getting from the airport in Birmingham, Alabama to my parents’ house - about 30 minutes away. So I reached out to Enterprise to see if they would like to partner up with me to sponsor this trip in order for me to have quick and easy method of showing up to my parents’ front door. After explaining my idea, they were more than excited to help me celebrate the holidays with my family. Thanks, Enterprise, for helping me pull off the greatest surprise of my life (so far)! #EnterpriseInspires #sponsored
