Watch AIRBUS LANDS ITSELF - Full CAT III Autoland

Autoland is designed and used for landings in poor to almost no visibility due to fog, mist, low ceiling generally when the RVR (Runway Visual Range) is less than 600 meters. In this case the GULF AIR crew on our Airbus A321 coming from Cairo into Bahrain will perform a practice autoland in good visibility to demonstrate to the JustPlanes viewers how this works.

The GULF AIR Cockpit Film is nearly 5 hours long and includes flights on the Airbus A320 to Frankfurt, A321 to Cairo and A330 to Manila and London Heathrow.

Crazy Low Visibility Landing into Newark EWR - United A319 - ILS CAT III Approach

This was a crazy landing, where there was absolutely no visibility until 10 seconds prior to reaching the airport. You could hear all the plane's actions like landing gear down, or flaps/slats extending, which are all indications that we are close to landing.

Do you guys think this classified as a ILS CAT III Approach? Autoland used?

Boeing 737 ILS CAT IIIa Autoland - PFD View

Letting the two autopilots do a practice landing on a CAT III ILS - well, not because its CAT III weather, but because you have to stay current in summertime ;) The Boeing 737-800 does nicely... Oh yeah, and this is obviously not a sim but the real deal :)

LOWEST VISIBILITY landing I've EVER done

Landing during low visibility operations at Canberra Airport on the ILS, flying IFR from Melbourne, Australia, in a Cirrus SR22. In today's video I'm flying to Canberra for a conference, watch the flight, the low visibility approach, plus the return flight to Moorabbin Airport in Melbourne.

I'm flying to the Women in Aviation/Aerospace Australia Summit in Canberra to give a talk. Flying my Cirrus SR22 VH-EYZ from Melbourne takes around 1 hour 40 minutes. I get vectored onto the STAR (Standard Terminal Arrival Route) then the ILS (Instrument Landing System) for runway 35 at Canberra Airport, a Class C airport in the capital of Australia. The cameras don't show the exact moment when I could see the runway approach lights and runway threshold, but I was above my personal minimums (which were the ILS minimums plus 50 feet) when I saw the runway and committed to land.

CAT II ILS Approach into Birmingham

View from the cockpit of an Embraer 145 jet during a CATII (bad weather) landing in foggy conditions on runway 33 at Birmingham International Airport.

The runway visual range was reported as 300m & the decision height during this approach was 100 feet (the absolute minimum allowed on this type of aircraft).

The callouts you can hear are 200 feet above the runway and minimums which is the decision point at 100 feet above the runway.

As there is no autoland on the aircraft, the autopilot has to be disengaged at 80feet and a manual landing carried out.

Cat III Landing at Brussels IFR

Cat III Landing at Brussels IFR

Extremely low-visibility (CAT III) landing, Philadelphia International Airport

This was an American Airlines CRJ landing in basically zero visibility, October 16, 2016. That cloud layer is maybe 50-100 feet high, and right at ground level. Look how short a period of time we're in the clouds. It was about 20 seconds.

I wanted to stay and ask the pilots if this was an autoland, but I had to catch my next flight.

LOW VISIBILITY CAT III AUTOLAND @ PARIS CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT

#paris #cdg #airfrance

Hey guys,

it´s time for the next aviation video. This time onboard an Air France (Joon) Airbus A340-300 landing at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. Weather was extremly foggy and the crew announced that we will be perfoming a CAT IIIb full autoland. Therefore all passengers had to completely shutdown their electronic devices.

After an amazing view on Paris at night you notice that the visibility decreased dramatically. Autoland describes a procedure that fully automates the landing of an aircraft. That system allows you to land in conditions which otherwise would be impossible to operate in. If you change the autoland mode to CAT III the aircraft will be flown by the flight computer along the localizer and glideslope beams. The antennas for such systems and the localizer is some distance beyond the runway so that at a predefined distance above the ground the aircraft will initiate the flare maneuver settling onto the runway within the designated touch down zone.
