COMMON MISTAKES on a LONG MOTORCYCLE TRIP (do you make them?)
Do you make these common mistakes on a long motorcycle trip? Regular motorcycle travel is one thing, but once you start going on longer motorcycle adventures there are some things to consider. I go through some of these travel and riding mistakes based on my own experiences traveling on the road and explain how to avoid these with some motorcycle tips.

Solo Woman Rider Crosses into Iran on a BMW F800GS. EP 10
Iran was the 9th country I visited on my round the world tour. Officially motorcycles over 250cc are illegal in Iran and woman are not allowed to ride. But Iran is a strange country where the law is one thing and the way people interpret it, another. Normally these laws apply to Iranian citizens but not so much to tourists on big bikes. During my stay I didn't have any problems at the border crossings or on the road when stopped by Police... and I was stopped a lot!
Despite how Iran is perceived in the world’s media and how distorted the public’s knowledge of Iran is, It's a stable country, open to tourism, with a low crime rate. All the people I've come across were kind and generous, even the Police! As a woman travelling solo, I've never felt safer than in Iran.
I entered Iran from Turkmenistan and traveled South. This Episode shows my first few days through
Dasht-e Kavir (Salt Desert) from Bojnurd to Yazd.

How to Run In a Motorbike BMW R1200GS Rallye TE - 710 Miles in a Day
How to run in a motorbike - is it possible to do it in a day? After picking up Helga last week, I only had a day available to get the miles in before her 1st service was booked. I'm heading up to Hilltop Motorcycles soon to let them work their magic so needed Helga (the BMW R1200GS Rallye TE) all run in prior to that.
I often run my bikes in by heading to Dover for sunrise, then taking the back roads West to Land's End, having a brew, then turning around and heading home again - roughly about 700 miles in one hit.
So after posting up on the facebook page what I was doing and asking for people to meet up along the way, I was absolutely stunned by the response as a host of eager (mental) bikers agreed to meet up at various points along the route.
So that was it. Set in stone, we were going for a ride - only drawback was it was February and FREEZING!

100,000 Mile Review of R1200GS Motorcycle
What I really think about this bike. Now that I have 100,000 miles on my BMW R1200GS, I figured it was time for a long term review of this motorcycle. I definitely feel like I have had a good amount of time to get to know this bike, all the quirks, and the features and characteristics I love and even a little insight into the maintenance involved in putting this many miles on a motorcycle.
I am hoping to put many more miles on this bike before retiring it, many many more! Here's to another hundred thousand!
