Unbelievable Boat Cruise Through Laos on the Mekong River!
We took the slow boat down the Mekong River in Laos to Luang Prabang! It was an incredible adventure and things got a little crazy at one point. The Mekong River 2 Day Slow Boat cruise on the Nagi of Mekong was the perfect introduction to Laos. Along the way we stopped at Hmong villages, drank lao lao or rice whiskey, spent the night in the small town of Pak Beng, visited the Pak Ou Caves and got stranded for a short period of time on the banks of the river during a huge storm. The Mekong River is the lifeblood of Southeast Asia providing people with fish, water for crops and a unique way of life. We started our journey in Chaing Khong, Thailand where we crossed the border in Laos and took a traditional long boat cruise.

INCREDIBLE MEKONG RIVER CRUISE to Luang Prabang, Laos!
What’s the best way to travel from Thailand to Laos? Going on a Mekong River cruise, of course! Today we show you how to get from Chiang Rai, Thailand to Luang Prabang, Laos via the scenic route.
To start, we took the local bus from Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong, where we then stayed overnight before our big journey down the mighty Mekong River. We highly recommend the Fortune River View Hotel in Chiang Khong.
From there, we did a land border crossing from Thailand to Laos across the Friendship Bridge. This process was super easy and handled perfectly by our Mekong River cruise tour guide.
We booked our luxury Mekong River cruise with Nagi of Mekong, taking the slow boat from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang, Laos. This river cruise was the highlight of our trip in southeast asia and one of the most relaxing and peaceful vacations you can take!
We stopped along the Mekong River at a small Laos village to meet some locals before heading on to Pak Beng, Laos where we stayed overnight at the gorgeous Le Grand Pakbeng hotel. This place totally spoiled and surprised us with a river view villa overlooking the beautiful Mekong River and surrounding mountains!
In our next video, we’ll pack up and cruise down the Mekong again to finish the journey from Chiang Rai, Thailand to Luang Prabang, Laos.

INCREDIBLE MEKONG RIVER CRUISE to Luang Prabang, Laos | (we took the 2 day slow boat)
Today we are taking a Mekong River cruise for two days to Luang Prabang, Laos!
We started our journey in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Then we took a bus to Chiang Khong, Thailand where we stayed one night before crossing the border to Laos. The border crossing was very easy and organized by our tour guide. We then boarded our two day slow boat cruise down the Mekong River.
We enjoyed slowly cruising and watching life along the river. After a few hours, we were served a delicious buffet lunch with options for everyone. We then arrived to a local village and tried their homemade rice whiskey.
After visiting the village our cruise continued down the river until we arrived to Pak Beng to stay the night. Our room had an amazing room overlooking the river and surrounding mountains.

Cruising down the Mekong River on a luxury riverboat from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang was an amazing experience. This river cruise with Luang Say Cruises easily ranks in my top three experience of the entire trip. The northern Mekong river cruise starts on the Laos border city of Huay Xai. Crossing the border from Chiang Khong to Hauy Xi was extremely easy thanks to Luang Say Cruise's helpful staff that walked us through the entire process!
We boarded our luxury river boat around 9 a.m., and by 9:30 we were cruising down the Mekong River. After cruising down the river for a couple of hours, we were severed an amazing lunch buffet. After lunch we continued down stream until we got to a small village on the bank of the Mekong River. Our boat docked on the shore while we explored the village to learn how the local mountain people live.
After visiting the village our luxury cruise continued down river until we arrived at the Luang Say Lodge. We spent the night in a beautiful bungalow that offered amazing views of the Mekong River. That night we were served an amazing dinner, and the next morning we woke up to awesome views of the misty Mekong River.

Die Mutter aller Flüsse nennt man den Mekong in Laos. Du kannst den südostasiatischen Strom und das Abenteuer Mekong ganz gemütlich per Schiff erleben. Ich bin im Februar 2020 sechs Tage mit dem Boutique-Schiff Mekong Sun von @lernidee von der laotischen Hauptstadt Vientiane nach Luang Prabang gereist. Während dieser Mekong Flusskreuzfahrt habe ich einiges erlebt.
Die anderen Passagiere und ich hatten während der Reise auf dem Mekongschiff jede Menge Begegnungen mit Menschen, wir hatten kulinarische Erlebnisse und auch so manches Abenteuer war mit dabei.
