I just go through with some fun things to do in the area, keeping a relatively tight budget. Each coast has its distinct charm, people, and lifestyle.

Australia's Gold Coast is situated in subtropical Queensland, an hours drive from the state capital, Brisbane. The Gold Coast is a fast-growing city of a half million people, drawn by the perfect coastline, incredible hinterland and sun-drenched lifestyle.
Surfers Paradise is the region's glittering resort, shopping and entertainment strip. Burleigh Heads is home to a stunning national park and some of Australia's best surf. A little further south is Currumbin, a place where the bush meets the beach.
The Gold Coast's most southern beachside neighborhood is Coolangatta. only a five minute drive from the Gold Coast's international airport.
The Gold Coast is the theme park capital of Australia. Spend a day riding the waterslides at Wet 'n' Wild and White Water World. Then ride the rollercoasters at Dreamworld and Warner Brothers Movie World.

GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA: This is a travel tour guide from Gold Coast, Australia. We walk around Surfers Paradise and the beach. When you arrive in Gold Coast at the Coolangatta Airport the car ride is about 30 minutes to Gold Coast City center along Cavill Avenue. The first day I arrived in Gold coast it was nice and sunny but then the weather changed and most of Queensland got a much needed rainy forecast to offset some of the fires.

Hidden Gems of Brisbane & Australia's Gold Coast
In this segment from season four of The Travel Detective, Peter Greenberg explores the hidden gems of Brisbane, Australia.
Living In Brisbane and Gold Coast, Australia
Our flight from Darwin at the Top End to Brisbane in south-eastern Australia took about four hours. There is a half-hour time difference.
Darwin was hot and muggy. We arrived in January, the Australian summer, and it was hot and muggy here, too. One day it was 37deg Centigrade in the shade.
Gold Coast has offices, shops and many tourist spots alongside a network of waterways running by the sea. There is bird wildlife not to mention bull sharks that swim in the water from the sea. These waters are not considered safe to swim in.
Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast beaches have plenty of white sand and are among the nicest we saw on our travels. The skyscrapers by the beach remind me of Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach.
Sadly, there was an epidemic of blue bottle jellyfish in December and January, and hundreds of people were stung. Inessa made contact with the long string-like tentacles of one blue bottle, which she said was painful. That was Inessa’s last time in Australian seawater. We stuck to swimming pools. A few days later a surfer lost a leg to a shark in Byron Bay, not far south of Gold Coast.
Next, a coffee house for cat fanatics. You can pay to sit with a moggy and watch one parade in front of you. Or you can watch cats through glass while you eat a pastry and drink a beverage. And you can even buy cat paraphernalia.
Brisbane Botanic Gardens by Mount Coot-tha is free and a has a large collection of plants, not just tropical but also Bonsai trees, cacti and much, much more. En route to the gardens we came across a poster protesting against a long zipline planned for the area, which locals believe will disturb local wildlife.
It is hard to avoid spiders in Australia. They get pretty big here too. Apparently the smaller ones are the ones to beware of.
And brush turkeys are common in Brisbane. We also saw many in Darwin.
The Brisbane Planetarium is right next to the gardens.
A statue of Russian space science pioneer Konstantin Tsiolkovsky marks the spot.
The Daisy Hill Koala Centre is in a national park and is free to visitors. It has a number of exhibits for information about koalas and local wildlife. It also has koalas outside in the park, if you can actually spot one.
The centre has BBQ facilities and walking trails. It is definitely a place to come to see koalas and have a picnic.
Brisbane’s waterways have an efficient public transport system. We used it to see downtown Brisbane on an afternoon out.
I enjoyed Australia very much. We found it pricey, but people do earn much more here than in the UK. Also, I had just come from South East Asia which is much cheaper to live. But I found Australians very pleasant, the food and drink good, and it is definitely a country worth taking out some time to explore. In some respects it conjured to my mind a tropical Canada in the sense of the size of the country, the friendliness of the people and a casual way of living. But, all things considered, Australia is uniquely Australia.
