One of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in aviation. Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (RWY27L) during #StormImogen Over 60mph winds battering southern England clearly took its toll on my flight. This was Swiss Air Airbus A321 (HB-IOK) flight LX332 from Zurich, was scheduled to arrive at 13:00 but due to ATC restrictions in the extreme weather was delayed by just short of 2 hours. If I said I wasn't hoping for the flight to make an aborted landing I'd be lying because it is exciting. However I wasn't quite expecting to be thrown violently left & right just above the runway, before slamming down, bouncing and then climbing away again. Got a bit more than I bargained for, was absolutely terrifying for everyone onboard. The captain did announce that the Missed Approach was due to a sudden gust of wind. Must take my hat off to them both in the flight deck for displaying some incredible skill and their fantastic quick reactions at getting the plane back off the ground & into safety immediately.
We did then circle for a few minutes and re-entered the approach and landed safely the second time around without further incident.
I wasn't even booked onto this flight. Was due to fly to London City but that flight was cancelled because of the storm and I was rebooked onto this one.

UA 757 Go-Around @ SFO After Losing Separation w/ Cathay 747
UA900 from SAN executes an ATC-ordered go-around from the approach to 28L after the Cathay Pacific 747 from HKG for 28R. ATC asked Cathay to slow and avoid overtaking United 757 on your left. Cathay responded they were at minimum speed and after our pilot couldn't speed up sufficiently, a go-around was ordered. Filmed from seat 8F. Our pilot later asked ATC why - exactly - were we sent around??

Crosswind difficulties - Worst conditions in history!
Some landing and take-off highlights in awkward wind conditions at BHX this winter (a record winter for stormy conditions in the UK). Note the frequent flexing of the planes' wings in response to the turbulence.
Of the five missed approaches shown, three diverted to other airports, two were go arounds and landed successfully on second attempt.

3 ABORTED LANDINGS at PARO AIRPORT!! | Go Around in Extreme Winds | Missed Approach

As if the pilots don't already have enough on their plate, the strong winds blowing at the Airport made things even worse. Hats off to the pilots who landed the aircraft safely and did go-arounds when in the slightest doubt!
The flights in this video are Bhutan Airlines flight B-3718 from Mumbai (BOM) to Paro (PBH) and Druk Air flight KB-203 from New Delhi (DEL) to Paro (PBH). Both flights were operated by Airbus A319, which is capable of STOL (Steep takeoff and landing), which is required to get in & climb out of the valley!

Both a touch-and-go landing and a low pass are types of go-around. An unplanned touch-and-go landing is also called a rejected landing or balked landing.
Touch-and-go landings can perform a crucial safety role when a plane lands with not enough space to come to a complete stop, but has enough space to accelerate and take off again.

In this video you will be able to see a terrifying ABORTED landing , one of the planes decides at the last moment to cancel the landing, incredible!
Aborted landing (with touchdown) in crosswind
In a crosswind averaging about 17 knots at right angles to the runway, this Monarch Airbus A320 on a scheduled passenger flight was hit by a strong gust at the wrong moment, so the pilot aborted the landing after touching down and did a go around to land successfully a while later. This video shows the whole sequence.
The go around is the standard and safe procedure if things aren't quite right on or before landing.
People sometimes refer to an unscheduled go around without touching down as an aborted landing, but that should really be called a missed approach.

WOW! Easyjet A319 late go-around at London Stansted Airport (STN/EGSS) on Monday 31st March 2014. PLEASE READ:
We was already almost 2 hours late leaving Ljubljana due to over running maintenance on our scheduled aircraft. G-EZBE, based at London Gatwick was flown over to London Stansted to complete our sectors.
The weather conditions were very calm with good visibility at the scheduled arrival time.
The pilot simply misjudged the approach meaning we was very high & too late down the runway to touchdown, leading the pilot to initiate a late go around. People on-board were very scared & nervous, but the situation quickly improved when the cabin crew & captain gave announcements to the passengers.
The pilot called it 'floating down the runway' - more like he completely messed up the approach!
This was my first go-around, and was not disappointed! Just pleased I captured everything on camera! :D

Air France Airbus A318 Go Around / Aborted Landing at London Heathrow Airport - 26/09/20
Video: An Air France Airbus A318-100 (reg. F-GUGH) is seen making a last minute go around / aborted landing due to windshear affecting the flare upon its touchdown, accompanied by the spoilers not coming up. It is then seen landing on runway 27R on its its second attempt successfully, but with a fairly aggressive crosswind.
This was operating on Air France flight 1280 from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.

Aborted Landing Lufthansa 747 & go around at YVR Vancouver Airport April 25 2023 4K
This is a recording of final approach, with touch and go aborted landing and go around to successful landing of a Lufthansa Boeing 747-400 at YVR Vancouver airport from Frankfurt.

It starts with approach over Vancouver, turning at Surrey for final approach into YVR at 04:30, and touch & Go landing aborted at 09:42 with go around south of the airport for final successful landing at 23:24
The go around route 24:45 is an unusual route for any approach into YVR especially for a Boeing 747 at low altitude, going over BC Ferry terminal at Tsawwassen, Delta, with White Rock in the distance and back to YVR
The view of Vancouver, Burnaby and other cities as well as the local mountains on approach is very clear.
