The Ghost Town Stuck in Time

On the Eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains lies a town that time forgot. Bodie, Calif. was once a mining village with 10,000 residents. Today, it looks as if the townsfolk simply vanished one day: cues remain on the pool tables, jackets hang next to unmade beds and arithmetic lessons adorn the schoolhouse chalkboard. It's a relic of the past covered in three inches of dust.

SECRET ABANDONED GHOST TOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOJAVE DESERT...

Today we explore a hidden, and some call secret ghost town in the middle of the Mojave National Preserve.

Two of the nice abandoned cabins are maintained by volunteers as public cabins anyone can use. We tried to not give out the name in order to protect them from scumbag vandals.

Amazing Ghost Town Left With Trolley Busses | Abandoned Sandon | Destination Adventure

I have finally made my way to Sandon BC, after many years of anticipation. Sandon has very little left today but it used to be a large thriving city. From the main street you can see several of the original buildings invluding the original power house that is still function and in use, more than 100 years later. If you walk through the woods anywhere around Sandon, you will stumble across endless ruins, remains and artifacts slowly becoming reclaimed by mother nature. I had only planned to stay one day here but i ended up staying four. The beauty and history was just too much for me, so I had to stay and enjoy it.

Lost to the Sands of Time: The Ghost Town of Namibia

This far-flung desert town was once one of the world’s richest, but was abandoned after World War I and has been slowly sinking into the sand ever since. Take a tour of Kolmanskop, Namibia, which was known for its diamonds and was full of German miners hoping to make it big in the middle of nowhere.

The Ghost Town of Metropolis - Nevada's Garden of Eden

To give a one-time tip, please visit:

In theory, a town should be able to thrive anywhere in the world, so long as there's enough water to sustain it, right? That's what Harry L. Pierce wanted to prove in 1909, by creating a 40,000 acre, 10,000 population city in the middle of the Nevada desert, but getting the water out there turned out to be a whole different problem.

Operating with the Pacific Reclamation Company of New York City, advertising an already thriving city with orchards and farms, and partnered with the Mormon Church, Pierce was even quick to secure a railroad contract with the Southern Pacific Railroad to have a train line to the city built within the first year of its life.

The nearby Bishop Creek was dammed using rubble from the 1906 San Fransisco Earthquake, and water diverted to the town. The town began to flourish, but ranchers downstream, now deprived of the water they relied on, sued the Pacific Reclamation Company. The company was forced to limit Metropolis' water consumption, and the town began to dry up. Famine, disease, and infestation of wild animals tool its toll on the town until fire finally gave it a death blow.

Now, even most of the streets have disappeared beneath the dust and sagebrush, but the Lincoln Hotel and the old Metropolis Schoolhouse ruins have become iconic among the ghost towns of the west. The arch for the school still stands as a grave stone for this ambitious town.

Metropolis is located in Elko County, Nevada, a few miles north of Wells.

ABANDONED Time Capsule UNTOUCHED For 10 Years | 1800's GHOST TOWN

This is our return trip to a ghost town full of stuff. We call this ghost town The Hills Have Eyes ghost town because it reminds us of The Hills Have Eyes.

It appears the people left this area many years ago and never returned. They left all their stuff behind and hit the road. There are many buildings full of stuff, and a few locked buildings we did not enter. We did enter all of the opened buildings though, which provided plenty of great stuff to show you. We also discovered new buildings on this return trip full of stuff.

This place dates back to the early 1900's with a very rich history. Fortunately, it's tucked deep into a valley and vandals have not yet discovered this amazing place. I will NOT share the location in order to protect the property from vandals and thieves.

The places we visit are usually very remote with little to no chance of help if something were to happen. It's been said that one can stumble upon drug labs out at these remote locations, which is a possibility we always keep in mind.

The Horton Mine: Encountering a Ghost in a Haunted, Abandoned Mine (Summer 2013)

MAY 2023 UPDATE: Three other explorers and I went to the Horton Mine’s flooded cousin – and boy oh boy was she even bigger and more dangerous than he was! The main haulage tunnel goes in for at least half a mile (0.8 km)!Check out my video exploration of this massive, creepy, flooded mine by clicking here:

NOTE: For all the non-believers out there: The Science Channel aired an episode of their TV show Strange Evidence which featured my Horton Mine video footage! Scientists and other specialists analyzed the footage and found it to be legit. Don't take my word for it -- take theirs! The episode was titled The Devil's Mutant and aired in Season 3 during June 2019 on the Science Channel. Check it out!

I had a startling encounter with the supernatural while exploring the abandoned Horton Mine located near the massive Victorine Mine in Nevada. The Horton Mine dates back to the mid-1800s. I have been inside over a hundred abandoned mines, but this one was definitely the creepiest. As I ventured hesitantly down the tunnel, it felt more and more wrong. You'll see in the video the supernatural occurrence that caused me to ultimately turn around and head back out of the tunnel.

ABANDONED GHOST TOWN (Found Hidden Vault / Safe)

We found a vault / safe in the middle of nowhere at a ghost town.

This time we explore another abandoned home with a hidden massive safe and a treasure map to the gold.

The hidden safe was built into the abandoned home. It was very large, the size of a small room, but it was locked and sealed in concrete on the outside. We can only guess as to what is inside the old safe / vault.

On the white board we see a map to the gold. We are not sure where the map leads too, but we plan on finding out in the future and will make a video of our search for the gold.

Most of all, thank you for watching. Please subscribe and leave a comment if you like our videos. We appreciate your support.

Death, Decay, and Desolation in the Delamar Ghost Town

An iconic image of the Old West is a remote, abandoned, fading ghost town slowly being lost to time and the elements. The ghost town of Delamar, Nevada is like that. Three thousand hardy people once lived in Delamar during its heyday from about 1895 to 1900 or so. The town boasted a hospital, a school, an opera house, a cemetery, churches, saloons, houses, a MASSIVE mill, and other businesses. It must've been quite the place! A massive wildfire destroyed much of the town in 1900. The town was rebuilt somewhat and continued having residents until about 1920 or so. It never regained the size it had before the fire, though.

While exploring the ghost town with Nick from the Miner49er channel, I found the lower part of an old bottle that was over 100 years old! Wild horses and burros were also nearby and keeping a watchful eye on me as I explored. Some of the walls still standing in the town were over two-stories tall! The mill foundation is really super-impressive. It's huge! And it's made of neatly stacked rocks that were all put into position by hand! The sheer size and scope of the mill foundation is amazing to see in person. I also visited the town's can dump and the town's cemetery where there were gravestones dating back to the late 1800s! Another interesting thing I found was a series of partially buried metal barrels in the town. Was this some kind of bridge or flash-flood control? Or was it where the town stored its drinking water which was pumped in from a well 12 miles away?

Delamar was where the miners and their families lived, but only the men worked in the massive Delamar Mine. The mine was nicknamed the Widow Maker because many miners died from silicosis caused from breathing the dust inside the mine. Nick and I explored the Delamar Mine and probably walked a couple miles total through its extensive drift tunnels. My three-part video series documenting the Delamar Mine and its main haulage tunnel is here if you haven't seen it yet:

Head on over to Nick's YouTube channel and check out his many interesting uploads of abandoned mines including the mine at Delamar. He uploads pretty much on a weekly basis, so don't forget to subscribe to his channel as well. Nick's channel is here:

Why Is This ABANDONED Town In The Middle Of Nowhere?

We found this mysterious ghost town in the middle of nowhere and could not find much information on the place. I do know it must have been an old mining town, so there are probably some good mine tunnels to go back and explore as soon as the snow melts. I also found that the main commodity was gold, placer gold deposits.

I also want to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to like this video and comment. I READ EVERY comment, but many times I may not have the time to reply. I want you to know that I do read it and will make every effort to reply. ????

ABANDONED Ghost Town Laboratory Full Of Dangerous Chemicals Leaking

Part 10 of a multi-part video series. Please subscribe and comment to support our channel.

This was recorded on a cheap camera and is not very smooth. I apologize for that in advanced.

The town first started nearly 100 years ago, and had some residents or squatters in the last 20 years, but today it's completely deserted and forgotten.

We came across this entire ghost town and mine while out exploring. In this part, we explore the workshop, mill, and some surrounding buildings.

The places we visit are usually very remote with little to no chance of help if something were to happen. It's been said that one can stumble upon drug labs out at these remote locations, which is a possibility we always keep in mind.

Most of all, thank you for watching. Please subscribe and leave a comment if you like our videos. We appreciate your support.

Ghost Town Johnsonville Connecticut For Sale

Hearing impaired see below in comments for dialogue...
Update November 1, 2014 Johnsonville Sold Video
62-Acre Vintage Village For Sale in East Haddam, Connecticut built in 1846.Bids will start at $800,000 October 21 for a Ghost Town.
The parcel is known as the Village of Johnsonville.
It was an abandoned 19th Century Mill Village located two hours from New York City.
Johnsonville in the 1870's was a thriving mill town as the mills used water from the Moodus River to operate. It was originally a company town built to house the workers of the Neptune Mill, which made twine and rope for the fishing industry.
The original town included offices for the company, the mill, a library, post office, general store, houses for the workers, and a mansion built by the mill owner.
The mill and village prospered together until the early 1900s, when the industry changed and the old-fashioned water-powered mill could no longer compete.
Without major industry in the area, the residents left and the town was mostly vacant.
It’s eight parcels...Permitted uses for the land include single-family housing, multi-family housing, retail, education and entertainment.
It was a filming location for Billy Joel’s “River of Dreams” music video and the movie “Freedom” starring Cuba Gooding Jr.
The land holds eight historical structures.
Many were brought to the site to recreate the mill community. It has a pond, covered bridge, wooden dam and waterfall.
Modernization brought the town’s water-powered mills to a halt, forcing the town’s population to move elsewhere making Johnsonville a Ghost Town.
In the early 1960's Raymond Schmitt, an aerospace tycoon bought the property and moved 1800's buildings to Johnsonville.
He erected new buildings and restored an old mansion during that time...
The property was open to visitors and had special events like wedding's in the town's chapel that was moved there when Ray Schmitt bought the property and had receptions at the Red House Restaurant on his property...
Ray Schmitt passed away in 1998 and work was never finished...
The Property remained a Ghost Town...
It is said that the Ghost of Raymond Schmitt roams His Town because he had so much love for it...
Thank You to the wonderful Connecticut native Carrie Leber narrating this video...
