AMERICAN SAMOA: Exploring the disappointing capital ☹️ of PAGO PAGO (Pacific Ocean)

American Samoa and the capital of Pago Pago, what to see, tour of Pago Pago in American Samoa. Let's travel to American Samoa (also known as Eastern Samoa) in the Pacific Ocean and let's go for a walk around Pago Pago, the capital of the American territory of American Samoa. In Pago Pago, we will see a variety of sights and I will explain to you why this place will not be on anyone's visitation plans any time soon. American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the South Pacific Ocean, southeast of Samoa.
Pago Pago, the capital of American Samoa, comprises a string of coastal villages on Tutuila Island. It’s a gateway to the National Park of American Samoa, which protects lush rainforest, coral reefs and waters visited by humpback whales. Fagatogo village is home to the Jean P. Haydon Museum, exhibiting local historic artifacts in a former U.S. Navy facility. A trail leads up to Blunts Point Battery, a WWII gun site.

National Park of American Samoa

This year we're visiting all 59 National Parks to celebrate the NPS centennial year and share the park love! National Park of American Samoa was #24. It's the only park in the southern hemisphere, it's the farthest in our travels and it's completely unique. Since the park doesn't have camping, we utilized its unique homestay program to stay for a week in Vatia village with a family. The village was surrounded by the park on all sides and we were constantly exploring the park right behind the house with the kids. Check out our video to see how we found our park through the beautiful land, cultures and mostly people of American Samoa!

SAMOA ADVENTURE

What an island!!
I am half Samoan and it was both Jake and I first time to this tropical paradise.

The island Upolu has some magical places and we only reached the north west coast of it! We Stayed at Tanoa Tusitala Hotel in Apia town centre.

We went to places such as:
Piula cave pools
Vavau beach
To Sua Trench Pool

The waterfalls are amazing, and the weather is tropical heat just how I like it. The food oh my fish, palusami, tuna, oka and Taro are some of their famous traditional dishes. (Palusami my favourite with seared fish in the picture)

We can’t wait to go back and visit Savaii Island
And the south west of Upolu!
Definitely will be staying within walking distance to a swimmable beach next time, but this trip was still a delight!

Enjoy our seven day experience video in four mins
