Auckland is surprisingly coastal... one of 4 destinations the airline flies with Tokyo, LA and Paris.

Flying to the most beautiful lagoon island in the world! (2001)

In 2001 JustPlanes was lucky to spend 10 days in Tahiti filming both AIR TAHITI NUI's Airbus A340 to Los Angeles, Osaka and Tokyo as well as AIR TAHITI's fleet of ATR-42s and 72s to 10 destinations around French Polynesia in the South Pacific. What an experience and what a beauty.

One of the flights includes a roundtrip from Papeete to Bora Bora where the crew did a flyby of the island before landing.

Air Tahiti Nui Airbus A340-313X | Los Angeles to Paris CDG *Full Flight*

This video is property of Train_PlaneHub

2160p 4K HD!

I've been wanting to get on one of Air Tahiti's A340's for many years now and finally the opportunity came up and I found a flight for a good fare on my way home from LA to Paris that I simply couldn't miss. Air Tahiti Nui is probably one of the best liveries out there and the A340 is personally one of my favourite aircraft. Unfortunately the days of these colourful A340's are now numbered as Air Tahiti introduce the 787's into the fleet.
This was flight TN8 from Papeete to Paris via Los Angeles, where I picked it up. Quite a strange flight time for a European bound flight to leave the West Coast of the U.S. Departure time was in the morning, 11:25am arriving in France at 7:20 the next morning. So a morning to morning flight to speak. Leaving in the morning, flying all day, all night and arriving the next morning. Quite a struggle for the body clock it has to be said.
So departing LAX from 25R we climb out over the pacific before spinning round to the left and back over land towards the north west. Passing over some Californian snow covered mountains during our climb up to altitude. Shortly into the flight was served with a meal, before the sun started to set. At 28:50 some great views of Chicago far below just before the sun finally set as we crossed into Canadian airspace. The next part of the video leaps forward to over Wales and before descent. Still a dark morning but the city lights of south Wales and Somerset shining below as we fly parallel to the River Seven estuary. All in good time, the sun began to show itself during the final stages of the descent creating some beautiful lighting as well approach Charles De Gaulle from the West passing just to the North of the city itself making for some breathtaking views.

FLIGHT DETAILS:
Airline: Air Tahiti Nui
Aircraft: Airbus A340-313X
Reg: F-OJGF
Age: 18 years
Seat: 14L, Moana Economy.
Departure Runway: 25R
Arrival Runway: 08R
Flight Time: 10 hours 50 mins
Flight Number: TN8
Date: Feb 24th/25th 2019.
Distance: 5,662 miles
Route: LAX-CDG

All in all a great flight, friendly crew and the perfect engine view window seat I managed to bag at last minute. Food wasn't too bad and considering the aircraft was over 18 years old, the cabin and IFE system wasn't too dated at all. The only thing showing its age was the window itself. Quite a lot of scratches and dirt between the window panes which was a little irritating but glad, none the less to have got on one of these magnificent A340's before they retire.

Thanks for watching!

Air Tahiti Nui exclusively operates one of the youngest fleets of Airbus A340-300 aircraft in the world. These new generation aircraft feature the quietest cabin in the sky while offering state-of-the-art technology and innovation.

Uniquely suited for long-haul flights, the 294-passenger cabin is rated as the quietest in the sky with added spaciousness and comfort in all classes. Reliability and commonality with the Airbus family of A330 and A320 aircraft make our A340s highly efficient to operate in terms of maintenance, parts, and crew training. The four-engine configuration allows for maximum efficiency while surpassing twin-engine limitations on trans-oceanic flights.

The Air Tahiti Nui fleet is powered by the world's most popular engine: the CFM56, built by General Electric/Snecma Moteurs of France. Today, this engine powers over 3,000 aircraft (one take-off every seven seconds worldwide) and has accumulated more than 100 million flight hours (or some 12,000 years).
