A walk in Queens Gardens with its new Rose Garden display - Townsville Botanic Gardens #exploretnq
A relaxing afternoon walk at Queens Gardens, Townsville Botanic Gardens with its newly renovated and replanted Rose garden display.
Initiated in 1870, Queens Gardens is the oldest Botanic Garden in Townsville and is heritage listed.
Covering 4 hectares, it is considered a fine example of a tropical colonial garden of that era.
Queens Gardens is blossoming with the installation of the new rose garden complete and planting of 150 rose plants finished a few weeks ago which will be shown in this video.

What's in Townsville part 3: Queens Garden, The Strand and The Palmetum.. botanical garden's
Welcome back team to another episode of What's in Townsville.
In this episode we had to few different spots in Townsville showing off some wonderfull free spots to enjoy a day relaxing. Wether you want to go see to botanical gardens around Townsville top enjoy the cool shade or head to the Strand to get some amazing photos of magnetic island.
We head to the Queens garden first located only 5 min away from Townsville CBD. here you can go for a walk through some hedge mazes, a stroll along the paths going through the cool plants and trees. There is an aviary there with a few of Australia's iconic birds.
After the Queens garden we head to the strand to get some ice, relax and take in the beautiful view of magnetic island. The Strand is great place to head for a swim, a run, some food or to play in the free water park with your kids.
The last stop in this episode is the Palmetum which is another one of the botanical garden's in Townsville. this garden is larger then the queens garden and a great place to go for a walk to enjoy the plants and local garden's with a back drop of Mount Stuart. We also stumbled upon a memorail for the black hawk crash that involved members of the Australian Defence force......Lest We Forget.......
