A Trip Across HARDANGERBRUA ????????The Hardanger Bridge, Norway’s longest suspension bridge
Hardangerbrua or the Hardanger Bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, and Norway’s longest suspension bridge. It is also world’s longest tunnel-to-tunnel suspension bridge.
On the south end of the bridge, cars immediately enter the 1.2-kilometre (0.75 mi) Bu Tunnel that goes under the village of Bu, while on the north side of the bridge, cars immediately enter the 7.5-kilometre (4.7 mi) Vallavik Tunnel which includes a 500-metre (1,600 ft) long segment to a roundabout inside the tunnel. At the roundabout, cars can take another 500-metre (1,600 ft) long tunnel that leads to Ulvik or they can take a 7-kilometre (4.3 mi) long tunnel to Granvin.
It is not only the country's longest suspension bridge, but also the eighth longest of this type of bridge in the whole world. The main span is 30 meters longer than the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
The Hardanger bridge project had a budget of 2.3 billion kr (€290 million) and more than half of this will be paid by toll and saved ferry subsidies.
The Norwegian Administration is considering a different route over a future bridge as the main connection between East and West.

Hardanger is a traditional district in the western part of Norway, dominated by the Hardangerfjord and its inner branches of the Sørfjorden and the Eid Fjord. It consists of the municipalities of Ullensvang, Eidfjord, Ulvik and Kvam, and is located inside the county of Vestland.
In the early Viking Age, before Harald Fairhair, Hardanger was a petty kingdom with its capital at Kinsarvik. The area is dominated by the vast Hardangervidda plateau in the east and the large Folgefonna glacier on the central Folgefonna peninsula. The district was selected as the millennium site for the old Hordaland county.
