#269 It's certainly feeling like we're never gonna leave Ponta Delgada. This time though it's because of the mounting pile of tasks, dodgy ovens and fibreglass repairs. La Vaga is looking more like a construction barge than home right now. As much as we want a functioning kitchen, we're really itching to get out on the water again. Especially because a submerged crater is just sitting there, come on let's goooooooo.
And we have a late change to the squad: Bri is leaving us, fair winds! But Andre returns, back on the boat for our Azores adventures. Welcome back, and let's hit the water.

BAD WEATHER before we embark on a voyage south. ????
#281 We're in the not-so-terrible position of being stuck on the Azores. Our old foe The Weather has delayed our departure for Madeira but nevertheless we're making the most of it. Join us for some roaming around on Faial and some of our last moments on the Azores for this trip. Lenny meets a goat and we're getting ready for returning to open water sailing. It feels good to get back to the water and be working together as a team for some serious sailing. And with all the advanced telemetry and whatnot, sometimes you just have to flip a coin to decide which way to go.

This is boat life and we're getting our life on the road again and hitting the waves. After some truly Top Gun piloting from yours truly to escape the marina, we're on our way to the next of the beautiful Azores Islands, Faial. As usual the wind is in our face and slow when we're sailing, and blowing hardest when we're on land. Boat life hey, but we've made it to the sailors paradise at Horta and we're ready to get stuck in.

#275 Utterly perfect day for a spot of spearfishing don't ya think?
We get the full Azores spearfishing experience with our new doctor friends, we've traded sails for engines and we're speeding around some of the best spots here in the middle of the Atlantic. Yep there's still fish out here if you're good enough, even though Riley's having a bit of trouble and Andre's stuck his catch to the ocean floor ???? If you're ever on Sao Jorge, look out for our mate John for a tour of this wonderful island, a lovely place with lovely company. And Lenny finally gets some wheels. You bring 'em up on a boat and they want a truck. Go figure...

It's pretty rough when you have some bad seasickness which you can't escape. Lenny and Riley at the helm as we wrangle some bad weather at the very first stretch of our foray into the Atlantic. The Azores better be worth it!
Bonus: Riley puts on his meteorologist hat for a forensic post-mortem of the journey to the Azores. Every hour and day matters and timing, as you'll see, is so critical to planning and executing our journeys.

Hiking The Beautiful Hills of Sao Jorge
#276 It's truly one of the best walks we have done. What is this place?? We go on a massive descent down the hills of Sao Jorge, hiking on to a little surf village. The Azores have been dotted by these beautiful settlements by the sea but this one might just take the cake. Possibly because it took such a big effort to get there. The people living there are seriously remote, what a place to live.
The Azores though, seriously, nicest people you'll meet in the world. We've been helped out of a jam more than a couple times, thanks once again to the kind folk of the middle Atlantic. And thank you guys for tuning in with us today!

#271 Hey guys, come aboard with us as we get moving through onwards the Azores. It takes the whole SLV family to get ready and be sailing at all hours round the clock. And while Lenny's sailing ability is naturally limited at this young age, we expect him to be sailing us around by age 6 and we'll never have to take night shift again. In the meantime we are so blessed to have Andre crewing with us as we make it to the next island. We're headed to Terceira and its capital Angra do Heroísmo where we get to explore a stunning 500 year old town.

Sailing on the open ocean for days! Wanna know what it's really like? We’ve made it to Tonga! But, our journey back home to #Curiosity is going to be a long one. The borders are still closed and we must quarantine for 21 days before we’re set free. Crazy!
Regardless of our negative Covid-19 tests, all passengers from the #repatriation flight are being treated and held in quarantine as if we have the virus. It feels extreme but we also understand. We’ve landed on the main island of Nuku'alofa where we’ll stay for our 21 days of government monitored quarantine. Then we catch a cargo ship to Vava’u Tonga to see Curiosity for the first time in a year! I still have to pinch myself every time I say it because it seems too good to be true: We're Finally Home!
WHO ARE WE?
We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living #OffTheGrid and exploring the world for 10 years.
Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America.
Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not!
Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild #adventures and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible.
We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life.
And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure.

SPAIN after a CHALLENGING 8 days at sea! SV Delos Ep.256
There's a lot packed into this one :) After 3 months of being onboard its finally time to say see you later to our DELOS SCHOLARSHIP winner, Ruben. It's bittersweet as we go on one last 4x4 adventure as a complete crew. After we say our goodbyes to Ruben, we check weather and make the spontaneous call to set sail for the Canary Islands, Spain! The 914 mile passage puts us to the test both mentally and physically. After 8 sleepless days of beating into the wind we are welcomed into Lanzarote, Spain with a beautiful feast and wine!
