Madagascar: Andasibe, Analamazaotra, Mantadia and Antananarivo. How to travel around?
How to travel Madagascar? This is my last video about traveling around Madagascar. After leaving Mahambo and passing by Tamatave we arrived in Andasibe! Andasibe is a small town where you can visit two major national parks: Analamazaotra and Mantadia. A perfect place to experience wildlife and all kind of lemurs: black and white lemur, brown lemur, the indri etc. We also visited the Vakona forest lodge where you can actually touch lemurs. They will jump on you, you can pet them and everything. Andasibe is quite touristy, there are greater spots to visit but it is also a must do in Madagascar!

1. TSENA’NY TANTSAHA TALATAMATY: Rice Porridge + Chinese Noodle Soup

Four miles outside of Madagascar’s capital city, Antananarivo, lies Talatamaty City. Talatamaty City is home to one of the country’s largest local morning markets, Tsena’ny Tantsaha. Sellers open up shop at 3am, selling everything from produce to fabrics. And lucky for us, the market has no shortage of food to try as well.
????RICE PORRIDGE: Zebu (Malagasy cattle) and sausage are mixed with leaves, ginger, special Malagasy rice, porridge, and spices.
????CHINESE NOODLE DISH: Pasta, macaroni, potato, mayonnaise and zebu skin.

2. TALATA VOLON’ONDRY: Sausage + Koba
ADDRESS: Talata Volon’ondry
OPEN: Varies
Talata Volon’ondry is a village located just outside of Antananarivo. The village is known for producing sausage and Madagascar’s national snack, koba.
????SAUSAGE: There are typically two types of sausage being sold - zebu sausage and a halal style potato sausage. This snack is frequently accompanied by local rum.
????????KOBA: Layout banana leaf spines with banana leaves on top. Add a layer of rice flour to prevent the Koba mixture from sticking to the banana leaves. Then add the Koba mixture, a combination of crushed raw peanuts and sugar. Wrap it all up in the banana leaves and allow it to cook in a bit of water for 3 days.
Koba is beloved across Madagascar, primarily sold on the street or to people in their cars as they drive through a city. The fuel from the ingredients gives people energy and helps them stay full even when walking long distances without and source of food along the way.

Travel Madagascar, On the road from Antananarivo to Isalo It took us four days, which is a fairly standard plan for the tours. We noticed most of the other tourists we kept meeting up with were on the same schedule. We did Antananarivo to Antsirabe, then Antsirabe to Ranomafana, an extra night in Ranomafana, and then another day to Isalo (Ranohira). You wouldn’t want to miss Ranamafana, it was a terrific National Park.

How to travel Madagascar?
In this video I explain what you need to prepare before traveling to Madagascar. This includes general information about visa on arrival, the currency, what are the highlights of Madagascar and how to get around.
Getting around in Madagascar can be really time consuming so we booked a private driver and one internal flight with Air Madagascar. This helps you to get around faster as you can't really rely on the public transport. For our trip we mainly focus on:
Ranomafana, Andasibe Mantadia national park and Île aux Natte (Nosy Noraha). Of course there are more places to visit like: Antananarivo, Isalo, Nosy Be or Antsiranana.
Your medical preparation must include: malaria prophylaxis, typhoid, hepatites and rabies, polio.

Our visit to this park was to see how lemurs live in the wild. We were fortunate in that we saw two different groups, both the Indri Indri (largest lemurs, no tails), and the Sifaka (dancing lemurs) and all their magnificence. For all Lemur lovers, a visit to this national park is a MUST!

Visit Madagascar: Driving From Antananarivo to Andasibe National Park
A bus (literally) was waiting at Tana Airport for transport to Andasibe for the last lemur expedition.
It is a less than 5 hour drive on a decent road that leads to Madagascar's third seaport. Past flooded rice paddies and little villages to Andasibe National Park (Perinet), whose montane forest has a wealth of fern and orchid species along with fantastic birdlife and colorful reptiles.
Andasibe National Park is relatively close to Antananarivo and very popular.
