When considering the best time to take an Alaska cruise, the answer is not as clear cut as you would think. There are several factors you need to consider when selecting the best time of year to cruise to Alaska.
For those looking for the best weather conditions, a cruise in mid-July to mid-August is the safest bet. Although, the driest month of the year in the Alaska cruise season is May. So, those looking to stay dry might consider earlier in the season.
Similarly, cruisers who want to save money on an Alaska cruise should consider cruising during the shoulder seasons. The months of April/May and September/October will offer the lowest cruise fares. However, there could be fewer wildlife sightings. Plus, the weather can be more variable during those times. Although, sailing later in the season gives cruisers a chance at seeing the Northern Lights.
For those looking to see wildlife, there really isn't a bad time of year to cruise to Alaska. However, the peak season for sightings of creatures like bears and bald eagles tends to be mid summer.

In 2017 we bought our first sprinter van and spent 30 days renovating it into our dream tiny home. The plan was to van life around the world and we'd made it all the way from Canada to Africa. Fast forward to COVID...us abandoning our van in a Moroccan parking lot, flying home to Canada, converting yet another van, and then moving to our cabin in the woods. Now, we're taking the plunge into BOAT LIFE!
We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. And as much as we love cabin life we've definitely been craving an adventure so we moved onto a boat for 72 hours to explore the Rideau Canal system!

Day at SEA On Board Carnival Jubilee | Carnival's newest Ship | Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse | Vlog
Today is another day at SEA on our way to our first port of destination Mahogany Bay in Roatan Honduras. We hit Java Blue Cafe for their breakfast option, a lunch at Carnival's smoke barbecue joint - Pig & Anchor, and a dinner at Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse - a specialty restaurant onboard the ship and watch Family Feud. We enjoyed some entertainment from Carnival's famous comedian. It indeed a day at SEA packed of fun activities.

The cruises I chose are P&O Britannia sailing for 3 nights and Regal Princess also for 3 nights. In this video I explain what a Seacation involves, how preparing for them differs and also give my FIVE expectations of what I expect to see differently. 3 days in the Irish Sea: a window between two storms | Ep 20
We left it a bit too late to leave Scotland and in this week's episode we're heading southbound through the Irish sea at the end of September. The autumn storms were already arriving and the best weather window we had was into the tail end of one storm with another arriving in a few days time. The first night of our passage was super rough and intense, with big seas and strong winds. We had a brief period of calm before entering the strong down wind portion of the sail, with bigger but slightly more comfortable waves. We were relieved to make it to the south coast, but everything didn't go exactly to plan.
