GIBRALTAR | The Best Day Trip From Malaga, Spain

Gibraltar is a British territory, a 2 hour drive from Malaga, Spain. Gibraltar is famous for its military forts hidden within the Rock of Gibraltar, a nearly 1,400 ft tall limestone ridge jutting up from the Mediterranean sea. After going through border control and getting our passports stamped, we ate a full english breakfast and hiked to the top of The Rock. Although we took the road up to the top, we hiked down the Mediterranean steps with some of the sketchiest stairs we have ever seen.

Inside GIBRALTAR: Strange British Territory in Spain????????????????

Johnny Harris geography: I traveled to Gibraltrar, in search of Bald and Bankrupt..Gibraltar is a British overseas territory in the Iberian Peninsula that borders Spain. Its geopolitical past and present and position as one of the world's richest places is what makes it unique place worth visiting. The people don't identify as British nor Spanish, they identify as Gibraltarian.. So that begs the question.. How similar to Great Britian is it? Brexit has also been an ongoing issue the last few years. Sir George Rooke captured Gibraltar for the British during the War of the Spanish Succession, and Spain formally ceded it to Britain in 1713 with the signing of the Treaty of Ultrecht. Quick trip to Gibraltar - NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!

I decided to make a quick trip to Gibraltar. I've never been before. I had an expectation in my mind that it would be some kind of ultra British enclave, but its not at all. They voted overwhelmingly to Remain. I spotted one Union flag on the high street. I didn't do the tunnels or go to harass the Monkeys, I'll do that at a later date. Huge queue of cars to get in, but I just parked up on the Spanish side and walked across. I wandered up and down Main Street, which felt like any European town. I'll go back in 2023 and do the tunnels.

What to do in GIBRALTAR?? - BEST Gibraltar day trip guide

What to do in Gibraltar? Especially when you have one day in Gibraltar? Luckily Gibraltar is a small area, only 6 square kilometers, so you can visit it easily. Gibrlatar is located in the south of Spain, but it is a British teritory, so you will have an interesting experience. Gibraltar's main attraction is the Rock of Gibraltar, which offers a lot of sightseeing! Caves, viewpoints, history and of course the famous Gibraltar monkeys. The only wild monkey population in Europe!

Why You SHOULD Visit Gibraltar!

What's it like in Gibraltar? Join me on a Tour of Gibraltar on Spain’s southern coast, a region well known for its towering rock and fascinating military history. The British Overseas Territory situated at the end of the Iberian Peninsula is dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, famous for it's siege tunnels and it's monkeys (actually Barbary Macaques,) Although it covers less than 3 square miles, the strategic location of Gibraltar has made it one of the most fought over places in Europe. For centuries it has withstood political manoeuvring, sieges, battles and today, with its red call boxes, Union Jacks and high street shops, Gibraltar staunchly stands as a small pocket of England in the heart of the Mediterranean.

We start the tour in Casements Square and walk in to Gibraltar town centre towards Main Street, We the pass through Grand Casements Gates and cross the street to explore Ocean Village - The famous marina and site of many bars, restaurants and coffee shops. from there we explore the rock of Gibraltar and it's many attractions including :-

Apes' Den / Barbary Macaques - Gibraltar's wild monkeys in their natural habitat
Gibraltar Nature Reserve, Upper Rock - Gibraltar's most prominent landmark and nature reserve
Mediterranean Steps - UNESCO World Heritage Site Buffer Zone
O'Hara's Battery - Highest point of the Rock of Gibraltar
Skywalk - Glass lookout with spectacular views at the top of the Rock
St Michael's Cave - A natural cave in the heart of the Rock
Windsor Suspension Bridge - A suspension bridge - not for the faint hearted

I also check out the beaches of Gibraltar including

Camp Bay & Little Bay - A former quarry turned into a lido, and a little rocky beach by the cliffs
Catalan Bay - A picturesque village by the sea located on the east side of the Rock
Eastern Beach - Gibraltar's largest beach located adjacent to the airstrip
Sandy Bay - A secluded beach with orange sand from the Sahara

And lastly Gibraltar Airport is listed as one of the most dangerous airports in the World. Not at least because of it's only 1777m long runway, but also because of the 4-lane Winston Churchill Avenue, which is crossing the runway

A day in Gibraltar | Where to eat & drink in Gibraltar

In todays vlog, we head into Gibraltar for the first time and show you our first impressions of Gibraltar!

We didn’t know what to expect going through passport control to get into Gibraltar from Spain but it was so much easier than we expected, we showed our passports and walked straight through! We thought it was so cool how you walk over the Gibraltar runway to get into town, never seen anything like it!

We started our day by checking out the main shopping street in Gibraltar. It bought back so many memories visiting the shops I used to go to in England! We also checked out a few different areas to see where’s best to get food and drinks in Gibraltar to headed to Chatham Counterguard, Casemates Square and Ocean Village. We ended up at a restaurant called Las Iguanas in Ocean Village and we were so impressed! The staff welcomed us so friendly, we sat looking out at the harbour and enjoyed a gorgeous vegan meal, we can highly recommend this restaurant (Especially if you’re looking for vegetarian or vegan food in Gibraltar).

We can’t wait to show you our next vlog here in Gibraltar where we visit The Rock of Gibraltar (and get pounced on by a monkey).. so make sure to subscribe and hit the notifications bell so you don’t miss it! Thanks for watching x

In this video, we take you through some of our favorite things to do and see in this exotic and gorgeous locale. Now, if you’ve heard the name Gibraltar before, it’s pretty likely that you heard about the Rock of Gibraltar. It’s the attraction that Gibraltar is most known for, certainly, and it’s one you won’t want to miss. But, fortunately, there is a lot more to do and see in Gibraltar than that one attraction. It’s actually filled with gorgeous landscapes, natural wonders, exotic animals, and interesting architecture. And with its many cultural influences over the centuries, it’s a place that offers a huge variety of incredible food.

It has beaches where you can spend the day lounging in the sand, as well as great shopping options. Plus, it has a lot of fun nightlife you can check out. We talk about some of the best spots to see, like the Europa Point Lighthouse, as well as the tunnels that run under the Rock of Gibraltar. We also cover some of the best spots, like Old Town, where you can simply wander the streets, admiring the old world buildings, and causally popping in for some great food. So check out this video today, as Viewcation presents: The Best Things to Do in Gibraltar.

Experience The Magic Of A Day In Gibraltar

With its beautiful Mediterranean surroundings and unique reality, Gibraltar is an interesting place to visit. I recently spent one day in Gibraltar and in this video, I'll share my day trip with you.

After wanting to visit Gibraltar for years, I was able to include it in a trip to the South of Spain during the winter. I stayed across the border in La Linea de la Concepcion because there were much better prices for hotels.

I included popular tourist attractions in Gibraltar like catching stunning views of three countries and seeing the macaque monkeys, but also captured less well-known activities such as visiting St. Michael's Cave and hiking up The Rock of Gibraltar. And you know I had to try some of the local food, too!

A day trip to Gibraltar

We drove down from Malaga in our rented car, to visit Gibraltar. Last time we did the Nature reserve, except the cable car, so this time around it was time to take the cable car. Sadly most of the driving photage around Gibraltar was lost, but anyway - hope you enjoy the little video we made.
