What are the pros and cons of living in France right now? This is the most visited country in the world. But we all know that visiting a country is not the same as living in it. Still, many people that arrived for just a few days in France, decided to stay there for the rest of their lives. This is the case, for example, of the enormous British community living in Bordeaux. We talked with some of these foreigners and in this episode, we will bring to you the Pros and Cons of moving to France. And stay until the end. because in the final part of this episode, we will expose some realities of the cost of living in Paris, and compare it with New York and London. There are some clichés that make people consider moving to France. Europe is diverse and culturally amazing.
Living in Europe has its pros and cons when it comes to healthcare expenses, taxes, and job opportunities.
But don't worry, there are as many as 44 different countries in the Old Continent you can choose from depending on your budget, career goals, and language skills.
Over 500 million people call Europe home, and they contribute to a wide range of cultures, languages, religions, and so much more.
This is what makes it so exciting to live in Europe. In an hour or two from anywhere in Europe, you can be immersed in a different culture, language and food!
From most capital cities in the EU, you can get flights from €30 upwards to other capital cities in Europe.
If the train is what you prefer, the train system is fantastic all over Europe and getting better by the day.
The cost of living in Europe is very wide-ranging. If money is no object and you enjoy the finer things in life then you can live in the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland.
For a great lifestyle at a much lower cost, head south to the likes of Portugal or Spain where it is extremely reasonable.
For the lowest cost of living, head to Eastern European countries like Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic.

The Dark Side of Living in The Netherlands
What are the downsides of living in the Netherlands? There is a wide variety of advantages that come along with relocating to the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a country that has a lot to offer everybody, whether they are searching for a higher standard of life, more work prospects, or a location to live that is cheaper. Let's not sugarcoat things and have an honest conversation about some of the challenges you could face if you decide to relocate to the Netherlands.
1. It’s an expensive country
The Netherlands is well-known for having some of the highest tax rates in the world, and almost everything is subject to taxation. The income tax is particularly high in contrast to those of other countries in Europe. You could also discover that the prices of electronic goods are higher in the Netherlands (here's a pro tip: shop on the German Amazon), and that the prices of some foods are also a little bit more. On the other hand, it is possible to acquire some excellent prices if you have learned how to shop and where to shop. The relationship between supply and demand is to blame for the typically high cost of rent throughout the whole of the United States. Jobs, in general, pay very well here; yet, in the end, it all comes down to how you look at it.
2. You have to learn a new language
Even though most Dutch people are aware of this fact, conversational English is not sufficient. You are going to need to educate yourself in Dutch since the majority of the labels, notices, goods, and parcels are all in Dutch. You are going to have to utilize Google Translate whenever you go to public locations like the grocery or railway stations until you master the local language.
It is well known that the service sector in the Netherlands is notorious for being less helpful and more difficult to navigate than in other nations. Even if someone has been downright impolite to us extremely seldom, the Dutch aren't exactly famed for their ability to provide good customer service.
You are either going to have to wait an eternity to speak to the manager, you are going to be in a line of 25 people on the phone, or you are going to have to wait weeks for a response to an email. Not to mention the level of frustration that a good number of individuals experience whenever they are confronted with tasks such as receiving mail or shipments.
3. Accommodation
Insane housing shortages are plaguing the Netherlands at the moment. As a result, it is essential to do apartment hunting in advance of relocating to this location for permanent residence. There are both furnished and unfurnished apartments available to choose. The furnished homes come with very huge rent prices. When you rent a property that isn't equipped, you may think you're getting a good deal, but in reality, you have to buy everything, even rugs and appliances that are necessary. In addition, property owners are reaping the benefits of the housing shortage by charging their renters unreasonable prices.
Due to the unfortunate state of affairs in the housing market in the Netherlands, it is essential that you begin your search for a new place to call home at the earliest possible date. Bear in mind that there are no assurances that you will locate a location right away; yet, you should not give up hope!
If you want to live in Amsterdam or one of the other cities in the Randstad, you need be extremely patient in your hunt for a new house, and you should prepare for a little bit of more wiggle space in your budget.

Top 50 Cheapest Countries To Retire To | Retirement Planning
Escaping the daily grind and retiring to an exotic locale where you can spend your golden years exploring and enjoying a new setting might actually make your retirement nest egg go a lot further.
To assist in your retirement planning, GOBankingRates used Numbeo, an online pricing database, to identify 50 countries that are the cheapest in the world to live during retirement. The countries are ranked by four key affordability metrics, and each metric is measured against what you would find in New York City:
• Cost-of-living index: Includes the costs of local goods and services, such as restaurants, groceries, transportation and utilities
• Average rent: The typical rental price in the country
• Groceries index: Includes typical grocery prices in the country
• Local purchasing power index: Measures the relative purchasing power of a typical salary in that country; a lower purchasing power buys fewer goods, whereas a higher purchasing power buys more
The study also factored in the following quality-of life metrics for each country:
• Healthcare index: Includes estimates of the overall quality of the healthcare system, healthcare professionals, equipment, staff, doctors and costs
• Safety index: Measures the safety of the country on a scale of 0-100; a higher safety index indicates a safer country, whereas a lower safety index indicates a more dangerous country
• Average temperature: The average annual temperature of the country based on the average annual temperature for major cities in the country
Based on a combination of these affordability and quality-of-life metrics, GOBankingRates’ study found that the most affordable places to retire abroad were in the following 50 top-ranked countries.

This Is A City We Could Get Used To! | Brussels, Belgium for Expats
Well here's the last of our travel adventures with our special guest, ellie's mom! We took a very impromptu and unexpected drive over to Brussels, Belgium, and we have to say, it was quite worth it!
The city, for probably obvious reasons, feels a bit more inviting to tourists and international people and it just had so much cool stuff to see and offer. Plus, the food and waffles were to die for! This is definitely a city we would not have a problem returning to in the future. We saw a historic shopping mall area, historic waffle cafe, historic chocolate store, so many world firsts of their types, and everything looked and tasted delicious :D

How do you get medical care in Belgium? This is a story about how I finally stopped being confused and got covered by the Belgian health insurance system: the Belgian mutuelle/mutualité. Hopefully this starter guide gets your started or at least clarifies some of your basic questions about the healthcare system in Belgium. Good luck!

She has completely caught the travel bug in Europe and uses travel as a way to educate her children. Shantel’s Blaxit Blueprint:
1. Declaring Your Intention: Shantel recognized that the racial climate in the U.S. was not the best environment to enable her children to flourish. The safety of Brussels and its proximity to many other countries within Europe now serves as the backdrop of their global classroom.
2. Get the Support You Need: Shantel and her husband have developed a rhythm over the course of their 25-year marriage. Part of what enables them to manage extended time away from one another includes encouraging Shantel to get the help she needs. Shantel credits this for her ability to adapt and adjust to change.
3. Family Motto: Kissi’s family motto continues to guide their life pursuits, “connect to as many people and places as possible and you’ll identify your passions”. Shantel is enjoying this new phase of her life as a trailing spouse and fully embraces what lies ahead.

I QUIT - leaving my office job in Belgium to go for an adventure
We are Robin & Manon and at the end of February we are moving abroad!!
Since the day we met it has been our dream to travel the world together.
We’re finally going to make it happen. Traveling during this pandemic will be different for sure.
That’s why we made the decision to start slow traveling .
Live for a few months in one place to really discover te culture and explore the country.
This week was my final week at my office job in Gent. Saying goodbye is never easy and feels kind of strange.
We are really excited for our next adventures to come.
