One of Georgia’s Seven Natural Wonders, Radium Springs Gardens pumps 70,000 gallons per minute of clear, 68-degree water from an underground cave. Walk through a courtyard where the former Radium Springs Casino once stood, enjoy foliage-draped hillocks, crystal clear waters and flora both indigenous and exotic. The park features a restored terrace, new sidewalks, a casino garden and gazebos.

Experience this unique country between East and West, between Russia and Europe, hardly known by anyone in Western countries, although Georgians proudly call themselves (first!) Europeans.
The Republic of Georgia is a country at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, bordering Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey. It is a country full of surprises, where we encounter many traditions we have never seen before (such as Georgian bakers diving headfirst into the hot clay oven and Georgian dance), taste flavors that are unfamiliar to us (such as Churchkhela, Khinkali, and Khachapuri), and learn that Georgia is the cradle of wine and has one of the oldest living languages in the world!
We listen to what young and elderly people have to say, we delve into local markets, where the true essence of Georgian life unfolds before our eyes, we discover towns that transport us back to the days of the Soviet Union, like the mining town of Chiatura, we witness that Stalin is still worshipped (in Gori), we venture into remote and genuine villages like Oni and Ninotsminda, we uncover UNESCO gems (Kutaisi, Ananuri), we marvel at the beauty of the landscapes (Caucasian Mountains, canyons, alpine lakes, Black Sea), we drink healing waters (in Borjomi), we are intrigued by the UNESCO-listed cave city of Vardzia and admire the modernity of Batumi. And last but certainly not least, we immerse ourselves in the exceptional atmosphere of Tbilisi, the captivating capital city.
We become involved with the remnants of the Soviet era and hear the outcry of Georgia's tension-filled relationship with Russia. Since Russia's war on Ukraine, thousands of Russians have fled to this neighboring former Soviet country, causing resentment among Georgians who see Russia as a threat. Throughout history, powerful empires like Russia, Persia, the Ottoman Empire, and the Byzantine Empire have all left their mark, shaping Georgia's destiny and its unique personality!

Radium Springs is an unincorporated community located on the southeast outskirts of Albany in Dougherty County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Albany Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Radium Springs is best known as the location of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia: the largest natural spring in the state. The deep blue waters of Radium Springs flow at 70,000 gallons (265,000 liters) per minute and empty into the Flint River.[1] There is also an extensive underwater cavern system.
The water contains trace amounts of radium, and the water temperature is 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) year round.
Prior to the discovery of radium in the water in 1925, the site was known as Blue Springs.

A casino was built overlooking the springs in the 1920s, and Radium Springs was a popular spa and resort. Northerners traveling by train to spend winter in Florida often stopped to swim in the springs, which were thought at the time to be healthful because of the radium content.[2] The casino was severely damaged when the river flooded in 1994, and again in 1998, and was demolished in 2003.
The nearby Radium Country Club and Golf Course has been refurbished. The course was originally designed in 1927 by noted golf course architect John Law Kerr.[citation needed]

I took a recent trip to southwest Georgia to see one of Georgia's 7 natural wonders -- Providence Canyon State Park. Located an hour south of Columbus, Georgia, the canyon was formed by erosion caused by poor farming practices about 150 years ago.
We not only saw the canyon from the top, we walked down to the canyon floor to see the canyon walls! A great afternoon but pretty warm on this day!

The Park contains several well-marked trails which allow visitors to view the geology of the canyon and its surroundings.[1] A paved, wheelchair-accessible trail about 0.25 miles (0.40 km) long overlooks the rim of the canyon. The park also features four more extensive hiking trails, including one backpacking trail. These trails are generally considered moderate in difficulty.[8]
The Waterfalls Trail begins on a paved section, at the main overlook, and progresses into the canyon along a 40-degree slope. Most of the trail consists of gravel, and a 600-step staircase.[7] Each waterfall emanates from Daniel Creek, and both cascade down sheer faces at 60 feet (18 m) and 90 feet (27 m). The trail is generally considered to be a strenuous hike, which can take up to 90 minutes to complete.[8] Cherokee Falls is 0.3 miles (0.48 km) from the trailhead; Hemlock Falls, at the bottom of the canyon, appears at 0.5 miles (0.80 km).[9] Each cascades into small pools at the base of the canyon, and continue down through a boulder-strewn stream bed. The creek flow feeding the waterfalls varies considerably according to the season. The Sitton's Gulch trail, commencing at the bottom of the Waterfalls Trail, runs parallel to the creek until it ends in a parking area in Trenton.
In contrast, the 4.8-mile (7.7 km) long West Rim Loop Trail is rated as moderately difficult, although it contains a few short, steep rocky sections.[10] A scenic hike[11] beginning at the Daniels Creek Bridge, it offers panoramic views before climbing out of the canyon and onto the plateau. This trail also provides views of Trenton, Georgia, neighboring Sand Mountain, and of Cloudland Canyon. Rhododendron and mountain laurel thickets are interspersed with sour gum and dogwood; large oaks, hickories, hemlocks and maples shade the trail. Cottages and walk-in camping areas are accessible via the West Rim Loop. Passing over varied terrain, most of the hike is moderately difficult, and is considered strenuous along several short sections.
The 2.0-mile (3.2 km) Backcountry Loop Trail provides access to the park's eleven secluded primitive hike-in camping sites.[12] Beginning at the parking area for group camping, the trail passes through hemlock groves, before descending on a moderate grade into a hollow filled with spring and summer flowers. At the far end of the loop, hikers emerge from the hemlock groves onto level trail, among oaks and hickories, before returning to the parking area.
Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area is a 1,003-acre (405.90 ha) Georgia state park located in Stewart County in southwest Georgia, United States.[2] The park contains Providence Canyon, which is sometimes called Georgia's Little Grand Canyon. It is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia. It is also home to the very rare plumleaf azalea.
The Tallulah Gorge is a gorge formed by the Tallulah River cutting through the Tallulah Dome rock formation. The gorge is approximately 2 miles (3 km) long and almost 1,000 feet (300 m) deep.[1] The Tallulah Gorge is located next to the town of Tallulah Falls, Georgia. Tallulah Gorge State Park protects much of the gorge and its waterfalls. The gorge is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia.[2]
