In this travel report we travel through Slovenia in 14 days by camper van. We start in the north, near the Triglav National Park, visit the Kranjska Gora region, Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. We travel through the Soča Valley towards the coast and then return via the vineyards in the east. We present well-known and insider tips.

Rafting in Slovenia offers the chance to explore some of the majesty of this country, whilst at the same time enjoying what is primarily an adrenaline based adventure. From the more casual to the extreme, Slovenia's rivers offer it all. Arguably the best rafting river is the Soča as it wends it way along the breathtaking beauty of the Soča Valley. That's not to say that the Upper Savinja, Sava, Kolpa and Krka Rivers will not peak your interest and generate ample amounts of adrenaline. No matter which river you choose, the scenery and adventure will not disappoint.
Slovenia's best rafting and most breathtaking river scenery is arguably on the Soča River; one of Slovenia's most beautiful rivers. Rafting is great for people wanting to experience the wild Soča River but who do not want to go it alone in a kayak - and is suitable for complete beginners as well as kids as young as 5.
Canyoning is an amusing, energetic and unique way to discover the deft artistry of nature; normally hidden from the casual glance of passers-by. Traversing narrow channels, jumping over small waterfalls, into crystal clear pools, sliding on natural chutes and challenging more powerful falls with a rope; it could be seen more as child’s play then the extreme water sport it is considered to be. Appealing to those sure of foot, sure of stroke and those at one with nature, it is an enjoyable adrenaline-boosting adventure experience. The venues for this high energy pursuit are often hidden narrow gorges in unspoilt natural surrounds. Most suitable, yet not limited too, are the gorges Sušec, Mlinarica and Fratarca near the Soča Valley and Grmečica , Mostnica and Jerečica near Lake Bohinj. Your choice will be limited only by your level of experience. With suitable equipment and a compulsory guide you can experience Canyoning safely in Slovenia.

There is fantastic canyoning in the Soča region to suit a range of abilities. The Sušec canyon near Srpenica (between Bovec and Kobarid) offers a relatively gentle but great fun beginners option. Or try the longer and more advanced Mlinarca canyon in the Trenta Valley or for more hardened adrenalin junkies the Fratarica in Log Pod Mangrtom is a great option including a 50 m waterfall to abseil down!
Fratarica Gorge
Fratarica Gorge due to its location requires a higher degree of awareness. Ropes are mandatory on three waterfalls and it is rated intermediate; not technically difficult. For the most part it is possible to jump and slide from waterfall to rock pool.
Predelica Gorge
Trekking between towering rocks and rappelling into dark green pools and you will experience five emerald waterfalls, the highest being 15 m. You can choose either the upper or lower section, or both if you are good physical condition.
Sušec Gorge
Due to its relative proximity and easy access, Sušec is the ideal choice for an introduction to canyoning. It allows the first timer a chance to experience the hidden world of narrow channels, shady rock pools and waterfalls. It is possible to slide down most of the falls and to experience the elation of falling into an oversize bowl of water.

Kaňoning, canyoning, tiež nazývaný aj schluchtenwandern (nem.) alebo canyonisme (fran.), canyoneering (angl.) je spôsob pohybu kaňonom kombinujúci viacero spôsobov adrenalínových činností a športov ako horskú turistiku, horolezectvo, zlaňovanie a plávanie. V kaňoningu sa spája športová rôznorodosť s výzvou skál a vody v prapôvodne zachovanej podobe.
To všetko si vyžaduje skúsenosti a znalosť istiacich a lanových techník. Práve tie sú pri canyoningu najdôležitejšou a háklivou témou. Nesprávne použitá technika môže mať smrteľné dôsledky, keďže práca s lanom je odlišná od horolezectva a času na opravu v prívaloch vody je veľmi málo. Preto každý, kto sa rozhodne podniknúť dobrodružný prechod kaňonom, mal by sa dôsledne oboznámiť s týmito technikami a venovať im dostatok času. Bezpečnejším variantom je vydať sa v sprievode profesionalneho vodcu, ktorý je akreditovaným vodcom canyoningu.

Every day we would drive about 1-2 hours to visit sights such as Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj, Soča River, Vintgar Gorge and the beautiful Slap Kozjak Waterfall.
