In case you didn't know, there is an ancient and UNESCO-recognized Holy Valley in northern Lebanon. Having never heard of the Kadisha Valley ourselves before coming to Bcharre, we thought the hiking trail that runs along the bottom of it would make for a nice day hike. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into! We only covered about half of the 13.6 mile trail, and even then we didn't get to see any of the ancient monasteries along the way. We will definitely be back someday--Hopefully in warmer weather ????

A new day in Michigan starts with a typical superb Lebanese breakfast at AlTayeb restaurant (1:55), the foul is melting and you can have it without bread, the hummus is rolled the Beirut old way, and the dishes are very generous.
The next stop, (20:10) Famous Burger Restaurant 1970, started in Beirut and mixed history with a modern vibe. Every bun is branded, and the recipe is top secret.
Arriving at the University of Michigan-Dearborn (34:19), I met Nadia, the president of the Lebanese Students Association, she prepared a university tour to discuss Lebanese culture and traditions and had lunch together.
I had the chance to interview 2 dentists, Dr. Ali and Dr. Mohamad at their house to talk about their career and attachment to Lebanon.
The Custard Company is a specialty custard shop owned by Jamal Jawad, they make waffle sandwiches, sweet buns, and the favorite loaded Ashta.
Ended the day at the factory of Cannelle to meet the Lebanese Chef Matt Knio, he has a huge beautiful patisserie, a high ceiling, and a nice atmosphere, and the smell is mind-blowing.

Right off the coast of Lebanon's second largest city, Tripoli, you'll find many small islands. Some are better for fishing while others are perfect for a tropical island getaway with white sandy beaches & a cold beverage. On the day we went to check out Tripoli's islands, it was not only Ramadan, but ALSO Easter. With all of that going on, we were incredibly lucky to find the one boat crew that was willing take us out for a tour.

The Beqaa Valley, Lebanon, spectacular view
Our host Jonathan tells about the valley and the position where we are. The Beqaa, or Bekaa, is a fertile valley in Lebanon, located about 30 km (19 mi) east of Beirut. The valley is situated between the Mount Lebanon to the west and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains to the east. It forms the northeasternmost extension of the Great Rift Valley, which stretches from Syria through the Red Sea into Africa. Beqaa Valley is about 120 km (about 75 miles) in length and has an average width of about 16 km (about 10 miles).

Dr. Joyce Azzam, first Lebanese woman ever to climb the 7 highest summits of the world, booked us a bus from Dora to Arz (Cedars), and it took us around 2 hours and a jiff to get there. Our first stop was at Kawkab's restaurant, a local business specializing in traditional Lebanese cuisine, namely manakish (Lebanese dough filled with thyme, cheese, etc.), hummus, foul (fava beans), and locally grown veggies (cucumber, tomatoes, mint), etc. Since I'm vegan, I had the zaatar manakish, veggies, and a cup of warm tea.
We then headed to Oyoun Orghosh (The springs of Orghosh), where we started our ascent cutting through the vast arid mountains of the region. We started at roughly 2600 meters above sea level and had a total elevation of roughly 400 meters until we reached the peak (3088 meters). Luckily, the weather was ideal to hike all the way up; sun shining with cold winds. The temperature was around 14 C (55 F).
The scenery along the way is spectacular. Expansive desert stretching to all sides is something to behold, especially the sharp juxtaposition of dry rocky soil and permanent snow fields classified as “alpine tundra.” Then, just nine miles east of Qurnat as Sawda’s summit, Mount Lebanon (the common term for the entire range), drops off more than 8,000 vertical feet, revealing breathtaking views and impressive cloudscapes.
N.B: I thought I was filming in 4k the entire time, turns out I was filming in 1080p/30fps. I was quite disappointed honestly but hell, life goes on and I have to deal with my mistake. Also, bear in mind that I am filming with a DJI action 2 dual screen camera.
