The Dead Sea is one of the wonders of the world. It is the lowest point on earth and you can
float on its dense salty waters! Where are the best beaches and what do you need to be aware
of?
Ein Gedi is a national park that is home to two spring-fed streams with drinkable water that flow
all year round - Nahal David and Nahal Arugot. A visit to Ein Gedi combines history – there is an
ancient, 6,000-year-old temple, and a beautiful synagogue with a mosaic floor – and wildlife –
there are plants that originally come from Africa, and you get to see animals including the ibex
and the rock hyrax. Ein Gedi is perfect for those who love hiking. Most visitors go for two to
three hours, but there are also longer full-day treks.
Qumran is a small archeological site. I describe it as the most important unimpressive site in the
world. The site is hardly spectacular in itself, but in order to understand it you need to look at the
cliffs all around and know the history of the place. The Dead Sea scrolls were found in the caves
set in the cliffs around Qumran. This is one of the most important archeological finds in Israel
and the world.

Best Free Dead Sea Public Beaches in Israel
If you are looking for the best free Dead Sea Public Beaches in Israel you will have an easy job as there are at least a couple of them on the way down to Eilat.
The closest free Dead Sea Beach to Jerusalem is past a military checkpoint, on the left side of the road as you are heading towards Eilat.
Park up your car by the Dead Sea and walk down to the water to enjoy this free public beach. What you need to know is that there are no showers here and no life guard, so you visit this free Dead Sea beach in Israel at your own risk! Also, consider that there are sink holes all along the coast, so that is another risk you take. Now if you watch the video, you will see that nothing has happened to me.
If you want the comfort of a shower, then drive to Ein Bokek in Israel on your way to Eilat or Masada. Here, all you need to pay for is the parking, otherwise the shower, the sand and sunbathing will all be free.

Dead Sea Resort District Ein Bokek
This is the lowest resort district in the world, located on the shores of the Dead Sea, with 17 beautiful hotels and crystal clear water. Ein Bokek is home to stunning mountain hikes, the Ein Bokek spring, and the ancient Roman/Byzantine ruins, dating to the 4th century.
In this episode, we will explore the main beach of the Dead Sea, the Ein Bokek's public park and its Roman farmhouse, the Bokek Fortress, and the fascinating story behind Prof. Mordechai Gihon, the man who excavated the fortress.

Discover the Best Dead Sea Beaches, Israel
A trip to Israel wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Dead Sea. This sea is the lowest point on earth and is known for its high concentration of salt. It’s divided into two sections -- North and South -- each with its own Dead Sea beaches to explore. If floating serenely in this body of water is on your bucket list, then here are the best Dead Sea beaches to check out.
First, the North region is where you can find relaxing resorts that take advantage of the natural mud found in this area. The three beaches we are going to start with are all accessible through the same road, so you can visit all three in one go. The Kalia Beach Dead Sea resort is just 30 minutes outside of Jerusalem and is home to the lowest bar in the world. Restaurants and photo opportunities await on Kalia Beach in Israel!
Not far from Kalia Beach is Biankini Beach, which houses several resort accommodations to suit families. An outdoor swimming pool, event center, and cultural dining options make Biankini a great resort destination.
The North is also home to Neve Midbar, a beachy paradise with a youthful party atmosphere. It has separate outdoor swimming pools for kids and adults, making it suitable for all ages.
Ein Gedi Beach is the place to go for natural mud massages and spa treatments as well as outdoor swimming. Unfortunately, the Dead Sea Mineral Beach is currently closed due to sinkholes. The Mineral Beach Dead Sea sits to the north of the Dead sea.
For those who want to visit a Dead Sea public beach, the South region is for you. Stunning salt formations and turquoise waters await you on these public beaches.
For instance, Ein Bokek Beach joins several beaches together to create a relaxing vacation destination. Stroll the waterside boulevard, do some window shopping, and enjoy a meal before admiring the view from a beachside hotel.
Near Ein Bokek is the Segregated Beach, named for its men- and women-only swimming spots. This is also home to Neve Zohar Beach, one of the area’s island formations made of natural salt. This is the southernmost Dead Sea Beach, featuring soft sand and water that you can easily float in.
Be sure to stay safe while swimming in the Dead Sea by covering any open wounds or scratches and wearing water shoes to protect your feet. Now that you know the best beaches in Israel, you can start planning your next getaway.

Kalia Beach, Dead Sea, Israel (March 2023)
The Dead Sea is situated between the hills of Judaea (Israel) to the west and the Transjordanian plateau (Jordan) to the east. The sea is 50 km long and 15 km wide. It contains 114 km3 (997 cu ft) of water. The lake surface is 431 meters below sea level making it the lowest land-base elevation on earth. Its water is 9.6 times as salty as the ocean and has a density of 1.24 kg/liter which makes swimming similar to floating. No plants or animals can flourish in this water but only bacteria and algae.
