A River Raft Adventure

The HD Quality version of this film is here:

A short film about building a log raft on a river in Sweden, and drifting away from the world with your friends... I hope that you enjoy it. This was one of the best adventures I have been on in a while!

DIY Pontoon Raft Performance on the Swan River

A few years ago, this home-made drum raft pontoon spent 6 weeks on the challenging Murray River in Victoria. It housed 2 blokes and 3 dogs and towed a decent sized dinghy with supplies. The temperatures were freezing.

SO todays relaxing amble down the Swan River for “Ponty” the pontoon was a cinch.

Perth sparkled on a warm 25 degree day showing off the city skyline, Optus Stadium, Crown Casino and past Heirrisson Island.

We take you under the Matagarup Bridge opened in 2018 and under the causeway built in 1952 and recognised for its heritage value.

The pontoon started out life with metal drums but after rust began to show it was relaunched with 44 gallon poly drums in February 2016. It is really easy to enjoy a day out on the river with plenty of room to walk around and a lounge, kitchen area and of course the pot belly stove.

Brett, myself and guests Laurie and Amanda enjoyed great food, wine and company on our day out - Ponty on the Swan.

Keep an eye out for the #littleferrycompany #onthepoint #torres chops and right at the end #redfeather tinned butter #riverpeople

Homemade Raft Boat Made With Boxsprings and Water Bottles Test Float

This is a raft made with 3 discarded boxsprings that we filled with 1200 empty water bottles. We used chicken wire to secure the boxsprings and prevent, in the event the material rips, bottles falling out everywhere. We also left the top boxspring empty, cut a hatch in the top of the deck for storage. This video does not show the wire or deck. it is just the test float. We plan on living on this boat for 3 days while we float down the Meremac River. We plan on documenting the trip and posting it this June.

We Built the Raft and It Floats! Awesome DIY Raft from Storage Bins and Plywood Step-By-Step

It’s construction day for our prototype raft! After a visit to the home supply store, we get to work framing the raft and attaching the Storage bins for flotation. This video goes step-by-step explaining how and what we did. At the end, we take the raft on a sea trial to see if it floats. Spoiler alert: it does! However, there were a couple of moments when we thought we were going to get wet!

This raft definitely needs to be bigger if we are going to successfully float down the Congaree River and later the Mississippi. At least another section and probably two more to make the raft 8‘ x 12‘ is going to be optimal.

We learned a ton during this construction. Drilling pilot holes is best practice when joining the 1x4 lumber. Otherwise, the wood is likely to split. The blocks that go in the inside corners can’t be bigger than 1 1/2“ x 1 1/2“ or the storage tubs won’t fit in the space. We used a 1x4 as a saw guide while ripping the plywood into strips. Those strips are 4” wide, 16”, 8” for the center, another 16”, and another 4”. The widths don’t have to be precise. The two edge strips and the strip down the center will be attached to the frame. The two 16-inch strips will simply rest on top of the frame and not screwed down so they can be removed to allow access to the storage bins underneath where gear and provisions will be stored.

Overall, we were very pleased with this outcome. The do it yourself raft is absolutely a viable concept and once we duplicate the process and add two more sections, we feel this will be a stable craft that will serve us well during our 45 mile journey down the Congaree River.

Crazy Epic Idea: Build a Homemade Raft and Float Down the Mississippi River - the Journey Begins

I had this crazy epic idea to build a homemade raft and float down the Mississippi river like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn as a way to inspire my Scouts to dream wildly. This is the beginning of the journey. In this episode, I get into the motivation, the people who said it can’t be done, and the decision to make it happen, first on a smaller scale and a better-known waterway. The Congaree River meanders from Columbia, SC, through Congaree National Park, and eventually joins the Sanger-Cooper system on its way to Charleston and the Atlantic Ocean. The first step of this adventure is to make a prototype raft and float the Congaree for an overnight camping trip.

Full design credit goes out to @OutdoorBoys and @Catfish and Carp.

A Look at Plastic Boats ( Home Made Plastic Drum Boats)

We took a day out of our busy life to go look at boats made from plastic drums. They had 4 different ones for sale that they made. some with motor and some with out. One even had two motors in it, one for back up if the there one quit. There's lots of these boats in Thailand but its new to the Pi. well thanks for watching Eric's Adventure's. and as always stay cool and stay sexy.
I have lived in the US all my life, but I have traveled to a few different countries. In all the country’s that I have been in I fell in love with the republic, (Philippines) the food, people and the culture not to mention the provinces and mountains. Thai land coming in second. I love to travel and see all what a new place has to offer. I love the outdoors so a lot of my videos will be about nature that includes human nature when I can get it. So come alone with me on my adventures, and my everyday life. Hope you find some of my adventures insisting to you. Some of the beast adventures are not climbing Mount Everest but just everyday life as we humans strive to be better people and co exists and survive on this planet.
Thanks For Watching.
