Pittsburgh is a historic city, and several of its most notable attractions honor that. Start by browsing the Carnegie Science Center or Museums of Art or Natural History, then visit the Senator John Heinz History Museum.
Many of its historic sites honor the city’s most notable residents and their legacies. Visit the Andy Warhol Museum or the Big Mac Museum.
Some of the best things to do in Pittsburgh are also the strangest. You’ll see a range of art made of repurposed trash at Randyland and macabre items at Trundle Manor and The Weeping Glass.
Pittsburgh has always been a town that has a strong love for sports, and several of its attractions celebrates this history. Honor its most famous baseball player at the Roberto Clemente Museum or stop by Heinz Field or PNC Park on game day.
Another essential part of Pittsburgh’s history is its designation as the “steel city.” The best way to get a glimpse into this is a visit to the Carrie Furnaces, one of the last remaining blast furnaces in the world.
The industrialization hasn’t taken all of the natural beauty out of the city. Enjoy the surrounding greenery at Grandview Park, Point State Park, or the Melton Park Walled Garden.
Pittsburgh is also a great place to relax and get a drink after a long day of traveling. Stop by the Allegheny Wine Mixer or Church Brew Works. You can also go to the Square Cafe, Pannit’s Bakery, or The Original Oyster House for a bite to eat.

446 bridges (the most in the world!), loads of history, quirky museums, and gorgeous green hills all around, Pittsburgh it's so ridiculously picturesque! Sara's word to describe the city. . . LUSH!
Pittsburgh is one of the larger cities in the United States. This was our first time truly exploring the city together, so we spent the weekend day doing as many touristy things as possible!
And I have a confession. I was a little hesitant coming here, Sara will touch on that in the video, but just driving through a little bit of the city, and seeing all the incredible bridges (and there are a lot of bridges) makes me really excited to see a lot more of this city!

The so-called City of Bridges might only be home to 300,000 folks, but it packs a punch. Famed for its steel industries, largely long since died with the rest of the embers of the Midwest’s industrial boom, the metro area here is a place of red-brick facades, numerous depots, and arched bridges, utilitarianism oozing from each pore and pocket. However, delve a tad deeper and see Pittsburgh’s more characterful edge. There are more bars per capita than in any other town in the US, believe it or not, all hidden in the basements and old workshops and mills. Steel City’s museums punch heftily above their weight.

Pittsburgh is located in southwest Pennsylvania at the confluence of the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River, which combine to form the Ohio River. Pittsburgh is known both as the Steel City for its dominant role in the history of the U.S. steel industry, and as the City of Bridges for its 446 bridges (Most in the world!). The city features 30 skyscrapers, two inclined railways, a pre-revolutionary fortification and Point State Park at the confluence of the rivers. The city developed as a vital link of the Atlantic coast and Midwest, as the mineral-rich Allegheny Mountains led to the region being contested by the French and British empires, Virginians, Whiskey Rebels, and Civil War raiders.
In 2015, Pittsburgh was listed among the eleven most livable cities in the world by Metropolis magazine. The Economist's Global Liveability Ranking placed Pittsburgh as the most or second-most livable city in the United States in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2018. The region is a hub for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and energy extraction.
