Today, February 27th, 2024, is a special day for Travels with Dottie channel because today I woke up to see that we've reached 5000 subscribers! Almost exactly a year ago, I had celebrated the first significant milestone of gaining 1000 viewers and 4000 watch hours, enabling us to become officially monetized. And in just 12 short months, the channel has grown fivefold, which is, to me, an absolutely remarkable achievement.
This incredible journey has been even more unique because every piece of advice I've ever come across on YouTube and elsewhere, I've pretty much sidestepped in running this channel. It seems that doing things our own way, with Dottie leading the adventures, has truly resonated with you all.

Australians First KHMER NEW YEAR! | Day 1 of Siem Reap Sankranta 2024!
Join us as we celebrate our first KHMER NEW YEAR! We are in Siem Reap, Cambodia celebrating Khmer New Year 2024, and attending the 4-day Siem Reap Sankranta celebrations.
We were deciding between attending Khmer New Year/Sankranta in Cambodia, or Songkran in Thailand, but ultimately opted to attend Siem Reap Sankranta celebrations, and we are so glad we did!
Khmer New Year, or Cambodian New Year, is the celebration of the solar new year in Cambodia, coinciding with similar celebrations in Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and many other Asian countries!
On the first day of the festival, April 13th, we head to Pub Street in Siem Reap where the festivities are kicking off, in particular, water fights! We wander around, mingle with the locals, and immerse ourselves in the Khmer New Year celebrations in Siem Reap!
