Campgrounds like Squaw Flat and Sand Flats are at the trailhead for some of the best hiking trails in the Moab area. And heading a little further along the road past Sand Flats puts you in the slickrock area famous for its off-roading.

If water sports are more your style, there are several campgrounds along the Colorado River east of Moab. They’re all right next to Highway 128 so you don’t need to go far from the main road. These campgrounds stretch anywhere from a couple of miles to more than 20 miles from town.
If you’re more interested in camping in Moab, Utah itself, there are several RV campgrounds to choose from in town. They range from a couple of blocks from the main street to a few minutes’ drive.

Canyonlands National Park is broken down into districts, including The Needles and Islands in the Sky. Each district offers several campgrounds, most of which are operated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Most of those sites are first-come, first-served so you’ll need to get there early to find a spot, especially in peak camping season from March to October.

In this video, we’ll look at the best campgrounds in Canyonlands as well as a couple of the other National Parks in the Moab area. Camping in Moab, Utah is a popular destination so it’s important to know where you want to set up camp before you get there.

14 Best Things to Do in Moab, Utah

Check out excursions you can do on your trip at the link below:

There are so many things to do in Moab, Utah, but what are the best things to do? This epic place has canyons, rivers, hiking trails, mountain biking, museums, boat tours, rock formations, winery’s, historic sights, jeep tours, national parks, the list seems to be endless. So it can be hard to know where to start when booking a trip or planning a quick visit. Especially if you are a complete outsider to Utah or the United States in general. We’ve put together a list of the fourteen best things to do in Moab, Utah.

Here’s a quick taste: Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage. This museum is located within the Red Cliffs Lodge, which are both part of the Red Cliffs Ranch. This ranch has been a filming location for many films. Some of the most notable films that were shot on this ranch include, Warlock, Geronimo, Rio Grande and Thelma & Louise. In the late 1940’s, the legendary filmmaker John Ford discovered the rugged beauty of Moab’s canyonlands and filmed the first of many movies at the ranch. Hollywood stars such as John Wayne, Henry Ford, James Stewart, Anthony Quinn and Rock Hudson have all worked on location at Red Cliffs Ranch. If film and history isn’t your thing, maybe mountain biking is more for you.

We’ve got you covered with biking the Slickrock Trail. The Slickrock Trail is a popular mountain biking destination. This 10.5-mile trail takes riders over a landscape of petrified sand dunes and the eroded remnants of ancient sea beds. Mountain bikers rate the Slickrock Trail as one of the more difficult rides in the Moab area, both technically and cardiovascularly. That’s just a couple of examples. So stick with us as we take you through the fourteen best things to do in Moab, Utah. Enjoy the video and get planning on your exciting trip to Moab, soon.

Moab Utah in a Day - Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands

Previously, Thomas and Robby hiked in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and drove through the Rocky Mountains on I-70. In this video, we woke up at Dead Horse Point State Park and explored one of the nearby trails to check out Shafer Canyon. Then we headed to the visitor center where we saw the potash solar evaporation ponds in the distance. After that we went to Dead Horse Point Overlook where we could also see Thelma and Louise Point in the distance behind a rock.

Then we drove to Canyonlands National Park, and even though we had a dog with us, we were still able to go anywhere a car could go. The park is split in to three parts, Island in the Sky, the Maze, and the Needles. We only checked out Island in the Sky, and our first destination was Mesa Arch. Then we made our way to the Green River Overlook. Next was the Orange Cliffs Overlook. And the finale was Grand View Overlook. On the way out Robby quickly checked out Buck Canyon before we were on our way again to continue west...

AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage – only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on YouTube are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

BEST OF MOAB, UTAH (REALLY) ARCHES NATIONAL PARK | EP 87

When is the best time ⏰ to visit Moab & Arches National Park? When the weather is “crisp” and there are no crowds. We had no idea what to expect when visiting Moab, Utah. We’ve really only heard about it for Mountain Biking and off road driving. We were blown away with the hiking, open blue skies, red rock and breath-taking views.

We teamed up with KYD Subscriber Micah who is a professional hiking guide with High and Mighty Hikes. He guided us through the Fiery Furnace, Landscape Arch, the North & Window Arch, Landmark Arch, Mesa Arch, Canyonlands and Dead Horse State Park. It’s almost comical to write this as it would not have been possible without being with an expert.
