Myanmar Travel Highlights: My favorite spots in the Hpa-An area!
???? March 2017 ▶️ Myanmar has been the one country in South East Asia which surprised me the most. It is a very different expierence to the other countries in the area and offers a lot of cool caves and temples to explore. This video focuses on the Hpa-An area and you can see all details of the locations in the Timestamps below. Hitch hiking was super easy as well and based on my travel expense stats, it is also the cheapest country I have visited with 2,65€ average costs on food per day!

PS: Myanmar has always been a troubled country, even back in 2017 already. On February 20th, the situation recently escalated when two protesters were killed by the military, who took over power in the country on February 1st. I condemn these actions and hope that the country will find peace again. This video has been put together prior to these recent events and I hope that the situation in the country will soon get back to the beautiful land I have discovered in 2017.

Have you explored Hpa-An, Myanmar?
Hpa-An is about 7 hours east of Yangon by bus.
There are many things to do in Hpa-An but the best thing to do is explore the caves. The best cave is Saddan cave, where you can see many statues of Buddha as well as bats and take a boat ride!
How do you get to these caves? You can rent a scooter for the day for about 8000 Kyat, which is about $8 CDN. It is well worth your money and time! Wake up early and go explore those caves!
Don't forget to go and explore the bat cave and watch millions of bats leave the cave for the night!
The street food at the local night market is incredible as well. You must try all of the delicious food. It all costs around 500 Kyat or about $.50 CDN.
The last, but maybe the first thing to do in Hpa-An is make friends with the locals and watch sunset by the lake!

We've woken up to a beautiful day in Hpa-An, Myanmar and have rented a motorbike from the guesthouse where we're staying, to go explore this very untouristy area of Myanmar.
As we are driving towards our first point of interest in Hpa-An, Saddan Cave, we're amazed by all the beauty around us and the Cave itself didn't dissapoint. What an amazing place.
We walked through the impressive cave and were asonished but what we saw coming out on the other side. It was like a fairy tale. We visited yet another cave before renting a long tail boat which took us under Saddan Cave and out on the other side, through rice fields and majestic limestone formations.

YATHAE PYAN CAVE, Hpa-An - ရသေ့ပျံဂူ၊ ဘားအံ

Yathea Pyan Cave, or the Hermit Cave (Ya Thea means hermit), is located near Kawgun village, 7.4 m (12 km) southwest from Hpa An.This cave is a historic and sacred site for many Buddhist pilgrims and devotees who come here to pray and worship it. The place is rich with Buddha statues and images and votive tablets dating back to the 17th century.
From the inside of the main chamber, there is a wonderful view of the valley.Visiting the cave is free, but please keep in mind that this is a Buddhist religious site and you should walk barefoot. After going through the Yathaypyan Cave, which takes about 10 minutes, you’ll emerge at a viewpoint with views over the surrounding countryside. The view from there is really refreshing. It's also a must visit place when you go to Hpa-An.

Hpa-An is the capital city of Kayin state. Hpa-An is a distinctive rural city, that could very well be one of the most beautiful on the planet. With the backdrop of the dramatic Mount Zwe Kabin, covered in luscious greenery of tropical palms, while not far away from the center of the city is picturesque Thanlwin River.

Here you can see the 7th-century artwork of the Kawgun Cave consists of thousands of tiny clay buddhas and carvings plastered all over the walls and roof of this open cavern.

In this vlog we visit the amazing little pagoda, Kyaut Ka Latt, built on top of a rock in the middle of lake, get invited for som Karen hilltribe food and we also visit the impressive Yathae Pyan Cave, where we run into the most photogenic monkey we've ever met.

Hpa-an (ဘားအံ) Backpacking | THE MOST AMAZING SUNRISE- TAUNG WINE | Explore Myanmar | Ep06
Hpa-an (ဘားအံ) was the most surprising of all places in Myanmar. We were exploring Myanmar the backpacker's style but Hpa-an turned out to be the most adventurous. We commuted either by e-bike or via hitchhiking.
We visited Saddan Cave, Kaw Ka Thang Cave, Pom Pa Tha Village, Kyat Ka Lat Pagoda and finally sunrise above mt Zwegabin from Taung Wine.
Hpa-an's Night market was one of the best night markets we came across in Myanmar.
From here we went back to Yangon to catch our flight to India.

Best Staycation in Hpa-an Myanmar #VLOG5
HPA-AN is a small beautiful town located in southeast part of Myanmar, surrounded by mountains scenery, rice fields, undiscovered caves with one of the longest river in Myanmar, Thanlwin River. It is known by backpackers and international travelers and the culture and religious places of Kayin Ethics local people. It is around 5 to 6 hours drive away from the city of Yangon and you can explore the small town and sightseeings within one or two days.
Hpa-an Lodge (rebranded as Keinnara Hpa-an)
We found the perfect hideaway at Hpa-an lodge (rebranded as Keinnera Hpa-an) at the base of Mount Zwekabin and stayed overnight at Karen Cottage, one of myanmar ethnic traditional house with moutain view and Doom, the one and only, on the top view of Hotel above their swimming pool.
Service and Location
One thing to remember is Hpa-an lodge is quite isolated. You need your own transport or tuk-tuk to get around and it takes 20 minutes to get into Hpa-an downtown.
They don't offer TV and room service also need prepayment for booking. But Wifi is good and AC is relaxing for hot weather. The best feeling is immersing yourself in a tropical Jungle, living in a lodge, doom overlooking Mount Zwekabin is like a private dream home and perfect romantic place for couple and honeymooners in Myanmar.
You can book easily to stay at Hpa-an lodge from their facebook page or phone number and email. Now they have moonsoon promotion for each room type from 90 US$ to 130 US$. Check-in time is 2pm- 12pm as usual so If you take the bus from Yangon at the early morning, you will arrive on time.So, Grab your chance and book before the end of September.
My Staycation at this beautiful lodge is one of the most amazing experience I have ever had. So, I did the vlog to share my love and happiness with you guys.

This pagoda is far from the center of Hpa-an. It takes a time for around 30 mins by a motor bike or car. This pagoda is small, so I recommend you to go to there, if you have enough time.

Sadan Cave return boat trip
Sadan Cave is an impressive cave of religious importance near Hpa An in Karen State. You can walk through it all the way under the mountain; when you reach the other side, you can take a boat back by another route under the mountain.
