Dubrovnik in 4K

Dubrovnik is always worth a trip. That´s what the crew of Cities in 4K thought, too. So we decided to visit this beautiful city this spring after the Star Wars filming was finished.

Dubrovnik is located at the Adriatic Sea in Croatia and it´s on UNESCO´s list of World Heritage Site. It has a beautiful old part of the city which is bigger than the usual ones. It is a very popular touristic destination for tourists from all over the world, because it combines history and sea vacation in one.

Watch the Video from Cities in 4K and explore this amazing city with a lot of footage of scenes which were part of the popular series Game of Thrones. Other scenes you can find in the 4K resolution video of Dubrovnik (Croatia) are: amazing panoramic view of the city from mountain Srdj (which can be reached by cable car, car or walk), old harbour in the old part of city, Stradun (the main promenade in the heart of old town), panoramic view over the roofs of old town (from the city walls), castles like Minceta and Lovrijenac, Church of Saint Blaise and others. These are just parts of many architectural and historical buildings you can enjoy and explore in this worldwide popular city.

When in Dubrovnik don´t forget to take a ride with the Yellow Semi Submarine. You will experience a great sea ride around the old city of Dubrovnik and island Lokrum and an amazing dive under the water surface. This is a must do to complete your experience.

???????? Dubrovnik Croatia Walk 4K ???? 4K Walking Tour ☀️ (Sunny Day) ????????

???????? Dubrovnik Croatia Walk 4K ???? 4K Walking Tour ☀️ (Sunny Day) ????????

0:00 Intro
5:16 Walking Tour

Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in the region of Dalmatia, in the southeastern semi-exclave of Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, a seaport and the centre of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Its total population is 42,615 (2011 census). In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in recognition of its outstanding medieval architecture and fortified old town.

The history of the city probably dates back to the 7th century, when the town known as Ragusa was founded by refugees from Epidaurum (Ragusa Vecchia). It was under the protection of the Roman Republic then the Roman Empire then the Byzantine Empire and later under the sovereignty of the Republic of Venice. Between the 14th and 19th centuries, Dubrovnik ruled itself as a free state. The prosperity of the city was historically based on maritime trade; as the capital of the maritime Republic of Ragusa, it achieved a high level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries, as it became notable for its wealth and skilled diplomacy. At the same time, Dubrovnik became a cradle of Croatian literature.

The entire city was almost destroyed when a devastating earthquake hit in 1667. During the Napoleonic Wars, Dubrovnik was occupied by the French Empire forces, and then the Republic of Ragusa was abolished and incorporated into the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy and later into the Illyrian Provinces. Later on, in the early 19th to early 20th century, Dubrovnik was part of the Kingdom of Dalmatia within the Austrian Empire. Dubrovnik became part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia immediately upon its creation, and it was incorporated into its Zeta Banovina in 1929, before becoming part of the Banovina of Croatia upon its creation in 1939. During World War II, it was part of the Axis puppet state Independent State of Croatia, before being reincorporated into SR Croatia in SFR Yugoslavia.

In 1991, during the Croatian War of Independence, Dubrovnik was besieged by the Yugoslav People's Army for seven months and suffered significant damage from shelling. After undergoing repair and restoration works in the 1990s and early 2000s, it re-emerged as one of the Mediterranean's top tourist destinations, as well as a popular filming location.

Old City of Dubrovnik, Croatia [Amazing Places 4K]

Dubrovnik is one of the world's most amazing and best preserved medieval walled cities in the world. Recently it became even more popular as the filming location of Game of Thrones King's Landing.

Founded in the 7th century, a free state between the 14th and 19th centuries, Dubrovnik became an important Mediterranean sea power and rivaled Venice as a trading port. The Old City of Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding medieval architecture and fortified old town, for its beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains.

Dubrovnik Croatia ???????? 4K Walking on the City Walls

This is a Dubrovnik Croatia 4K Walking on the City Walls video, where I will start at the entrance of the old town city walls. I will walk the entire length along with showing the amazing views of the sea and the old town.

The Dubrovnik City Walls are a series of defensive stone walls surrounding the city of Dubrovnik in southern Croatia.[Note 1][1] With numerous additions and modifications throughout their history, they have been considered to be amongst the great fortification systems of the Middle Ages, as they were never breached by a hostile army during this time period.[2] In 1979, the old city of Dubrovnik, which includes a substantial portion of the old walls of Dubrovnik, joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

Dubrovnik Croatia ???????? 4K Old Town Walking Tour

This is a walking tour video of the Old Town in Dubrovnik, Croatia. It is one of my longest videos and I thought about splitting it into two parts but went ahead with a full hour video. The Dubrovnik Old Town is one of the best old towns I have visited, with numerous narrow streets going up or down a hill while surrounded by shops, cafes and restaurants. It was a pleasure to explore, at times getting lost but that's the best part because sometimes you come across new things. I've added timestamps since it is a long video and labeled the narrow streets because I do love walking through them. Hope you enjoy this Dubrovnik, Croatia Old Town Walking Tour!

About Dubrovnik and its tourist attractions and sightseeing:

Dubrovnik is a pearl of the Adriatic Sea. The city is famous for its amazingly beautiful nature and the Mediterranean atmosphere. Dubrovnik Riviera is located in the south of the Dalmatia region. Tempting sea, small picturesque places with beautiful houses with terracotta roofs, green islands located along the coast – you will see all these and more, if you arrive in Dubrovnik.

Founded in the 7th century, nowadays, the city has the population of 50 000 people. Dubrovnik can be surely called one of the most fascinating cities of Croatia. Due to its ancient centre, Dubrovnik has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. In the Middle Ages, Dubrovnik was one of the most famous economic and cultural centres of the whole Mediterranean region. This port city was especially popular with artists, writers and poets. Nowadays, tourists can find there a unique open-air museum with numerous towers, churches, palaces and monuments.

The whole historical centre of the city is a pedestrian zone, which is located on an enormous rock over the sea. If you want, you can get upstairs and enjoy the baroque beauty of the city from the birds' eye view. The ancient walls (Gradske Zidine) are the symbol of Dubrovnik. They were built in the 10th century and later, in the 13th century, they were completed. Such well-known architects as Michelozzo and Ferramolino took part in the creation of the walls. The whole length of the walls estimates 940 m, their height is 25 m, and their thickness is 6 m. More than that, the walls are fortified with ten semicircular bastions.

All sights of the historical centre are situated on several square kilometres. The main street, Stradun Street (its former name is Placa) is an extremely cosy and fascinating market street, surrounded by plenty of small streets paved with marble. One can endlessly walk here for hours without any tiredness. Stradun Street leads to the historical centre of the city and crosses Dubrovnik from east to west. Nowadays, you will find a lot of eye-catching bars and cafes in this part of the city. Driving is prohibited in this area, so you will have nothing to do but to enjoy a lovely walk.

The central square of Dubrovnik is called Luza Square. This is a traditional place for various meetings. There is also Dubrovnik port nearby, from which tourists can enjoy wonderful boat rides. Fans of lazy beach relaxation will find there wonderful nature beaches and pure sea water.

Dubrovnik has been a prominent Game of Thrones filming location since Season 2 and the Croatian city is a must-visit for any Game of Thrones fan. After all, Dubrovnik is King’s Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms!

Dubrovnik is a popular tourist destination with developed tourism infrastructure and tourism industry in general. The tourism sector is of great importance to Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik City Walls (Croatia) - Walking Tour (4K)

As it can be seen in our previous video, Dubrovnik is an open air museum and its master piece is definitely its medieval walls. Built throughout centuries to protect the enriching maritime republic from land or sea invasions, the Dubrovnik City Walls are one of the most impressive and well preserved medieval defensive systems in Europe. However, are they worth visiting? After all, the entrance costs almost 30 EUR! It is true that you can visit the city for free and behold the walls around it without paying anything for it. But if you have the time and the money, we would recommend you taking a morning or afternoon to visit the walls (do no forget water and sunscreen!). Besides its historic importance and its good preservation, the viewpoints to the old town below are unmatchable and the perspectives keep changing depending on the point you are at. You can check our video to decide yourself! And keep in mind that the entrance to the City Walls is also included in the Dubrovnik one-day pass (around 33 EUR) which will also give you access to other attractions such as the Rector's Palace and the Maritime Museum. Check our video and let us know your verdict.

4K Virtual Walking Tour through Dubrovnik, Croatia City Walks #3

Dubrovnik (Croatian pronunciation: [dǔbroːʋniːk] historically known as Ragusa, is a city on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea, a seaport and the centre of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Situated in an exclave, it is connected to the rest of the country by the Pelješac Bridge.

It was under the protection of the Byzantine Empire and later under the sovereignty of the Republic of Venice.
